  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) I'd be elated. I love AI2's game. So, I gotta ask. Per minute, Deng averages more points, more rebounds, fewer personal fouls, shoots just about as well from the field and slightly better from the line, etc. Iguodala gets several more assists per game, I will note that. Aside from the fact that Deng can't stay on the court, what is it about Iguodala's game that you like so much? His numbers are basically slightly below Deng except for the assists.
  2. I didn't see anyone having posted this. Yeah, there's no way the other execs in the league aren't furious with how this went.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) I have no idea but you didnt ask what I thought he would do you asked what I would do. If youre gonna be that cynical with all your players you will end up digging your own grave anyway. The Olympics can be a once in a life time opportunity and can be some players only chance to be a champion, you cant take that away from someone because LeBron James knows he cant win a championship being the man. I just have to wonder how you'd react if 3 years from now it came out that Derrick Rose agreed he was going to do whatever it took to become an UFA in order to sign with the Thunder and team up with Durant to challenge the Heat.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) We still have another move. Even JR admitted the Bulls have to get a shoot guard. I wonder if they'll pull of a Jason Richardson or something to that degree. Or are we going to go a Raja Bell? If we could get a quality 2 guard we could be a lot better than everyone thinks. Raja Bell would probably fit within their budget and cover their defensive needs. That's probably a top 4 team in the East, top 2 if Thibodeau can turn these guys into a defensive stalwart, just not a title contender.
  5. LOL, Seriously? What is with the athletic teams in cities where I live?
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) He'll get eaten up defensively though. Right now, it's all about the system for the Bulls. Was Ray Allen thought of as a good defender a few years ago? Paul Pierce? Maybe Garnett was, but everyone seemed to, correctly, credit the coach for 90% of that defense. Those Celtics seemed to do almost everything right in terms of their body position, hand position, playing in their system, doing their roles completely right, etc.
  7. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Id have a hard time telling someone they couldnt represent their country in the Olympics. You think Dan Gilbert wouldn't do that right now?
  8. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Yeah, I didn't think the pic weas that big until I saw it last night. Too lazy to shrink it, just took that one down for now. I like the Algore line anyway, so made that bigger instead! No pun intended. Gracias!
  9. This swing was about 2 swings before Dayan Viciedo's first major league home run.
  10. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Just asking....when does an AAP close when a player gets to the bigs? Typically, when they're traded or when there's no obvious chance of them returning to the minors.
  11. So...different point... If you're an NBA owner, and you happen to have a soon-to-be top 10 NBA player (i.e. Durant, Rose), and that player were asked to participate on the Olympic team...what would you say? You just saw a situation where 2 teams appear to have lost their best player to FA for nothing and were convinced to do so while hanging out during the Olympic team. On top of that, there's lots of signs that CP3 was involved in that hookup game as well, even if so far he hasn't been able to pull it off. You already don't want your guy wearing out or getting hurt, now you also have to worry about him deciding to leave your franchise because of the Olympics?
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Are you insane, Kobe Bryant would instantly make us the best team in the NBA by far. Really, I disagree, especially considering Kobe's arthritis.
  13. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Not doubting you, just verifying. I thought that I recently read somewhere that Freddys' fastball was back up tp 90 - 91. It was...but in that same game, Thornton touched 99. I think it was the gun.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) I've been Melo's main cheer-leader for like 5 seasons. He is so underrated. (or was before this year) I wonder if Melo would be the type of guy who would work out well with a coach like Thibs...
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) AJP is our starting catcher. He's not being held out against all lefties. He's not at that level yet. Castro is a backup. Let me ask you: Why do you get so worked up over this? You obviously want AJP to sit against all lefties and you are a logical man. That is simply not occurring this season. Why does that obvious fact bother you so much? s*** if we knock out Chen, then AJP may actually face more righties than lefties tonight. AJ's hitting .170 with a .506 OPS against LHP on the season. Even worse against lefty starting pitching.
  16. Alpha, that's a monstrously long Sig...any chance that could be shortened somehow?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) I agree. But let's face it, lots of times a play either breaks down or there simply isn't enough time left to really run an offensive set. So it ends up being an ISO regardless. And with Kobe being a better shooter, ball-handler and MUCH better FT shooter, Kobe over Lebron is a no-brainer. Frankly, if I were the Lakers, I'd want the ball going into Gasol's hands at the end of a game, down 1.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Who was first? Pinella, IIRC.
  19. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) And one of the worst moves Ruben Amaro has ever made. I wonder if they really were starting to doubt Smoak after seeing him in person.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) I was talking Kobe/Lebron. Kobe puts the fear of god into my ass whenever he shoots a game-winner. I don't get anywhere near the same feeling when Lebron takes a game-winner. Personally, I love it whenever a team plays for an isolation/single shot on the last play of a game; I would much rather see a team start moving the ball with 8 seconds left and try to run a serious offense. Isolation plays are too predictable. I defended Lebron dumping the ball off to Williams for that open shot, for example. The worst example I ever saw of this was the Bulls with Gordon. Gordon isn't good at creating his own shot, but VDN and others insisted that was their only option; he had to go 1 on however-many-defended-him.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) http://pratie.blogspot.com/2005/03/cuyahog...re-of-1969.html Ah I see. Stories about the olden days provided by our elders...
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) They had better stay away from the Lake. I don't get it?
  23. So, there's a TV/Radio organized Lebron stuff burning in a suburb of Cleveland tonight.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) what? a scientist has "faith" that his/her hypothesis is correct, despite the fact that it could be proven incorrect. Science might be more "factual" than spiritual belief, but at least with some aspects of sciene, it's still believing in something that cannot be proven. Entirely true. The issue then becomes to prove it wrong, or to throw every test you can come up with to prove it wrong. That's science.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Then the owners b**** and b**** about how the players make too much money and will threaten to lockout next year. That is all after they give Tyrus $40 mil, Brendan Haywood $55 mil, Travis Outlaw $35 mil, etc., etc. The reality is...if a team doesn't spend that kind of money on 2nd/3rd order guys, then they wind up in the boat the Grizzlies were in...looking cheap. We see these contracts go out every year, and then they bust, and then again the same contracts...because that's the only way to tread water in the league. Especially now that teams are just playing for a playoff spot, the owners are going to seriously break the union hard next year.
