  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) I would love it. Get Bosh, draft a sniper as a shooting guard (Anderson, Jones or Warren at 18, or pray Henry falls that low) sign a couple guys to the vet minimum for the bench, and call it an off-season. Is there any veteran SG that might be available this offseason for something close to the MLE?
  2. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) Don't know if this has been posted. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/knic...qlxSjLDmd8yKOgK "Most players believe James is staying in Cleveland and Dwyane Wade, who visits the Garden tonight for the last time before becoming free, will not leave Miami, despite selling his home for a loss. League sentiment also has Amar'e Stoudemire hooking up with Wade in Miami and Chris Bosh joining forces with point guard Derrick Rose in Chicago. That leaves Joe Johnson, who doesn't exactly make the Knicks world-beaters." I know you guys would be happy to have Bosh down low with Noah. Bulls would have a nasty front-court. I'd be absolutely thrilled to wind up with Bosh. IMO, if you're Gar Forman...you have an easy job this offseason, especially since I think Wade, Lebron, and Bosh all have the same representation. The first second you're allowed to make an offer...you make an identical offer to all 3, as much money and everything as you're allowed to offer. You say "The first one of you willing to sign we will take". You then start to recruit Bosh and Wade if necessary, and all you do is make sure you don't miss out on all of them.
  3. They have the "Target dog" in the first row behind home plate.
  4. I'd just like to say...Windows 7 snapping ESPN3's Twins game broadcast on 1 side of the screen and the paper I'm working on to the other side of the screen is a wonderful thing.
  5. And the first CS I believe. Pedroia with the first 2b.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) But no one did. We could have retained him for very little. Again...not at the time we made the deal for Pierre. Only in hindsight, after he signed with the Royals, was it clear that he'd been forced to drop his price. It's also possible we could have wound up bidding for him against the Royals for some time.
  7. Rays are talking about releasing Burrell
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) we've seen very little of Nix, so I'd bet he gets in a game or two this road trip. I doubt we see much of Nix until someone on the IF gets hurt. Especially as a starter.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) I said this a couple weeks ago. Sabermetrics (UZR in particular) is the worst thing that ever happened to JD. That and the fact he's apparently a very stubborn man. If his bat hadn't been godawful the 2nd half of last season he'd have found a job no matter his defense.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) I'm not arguing that. I feel the only reason he was not signed was because of the CS issues. It was because he thought someone would offer him $7 mil for a year.
  11. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) For the Bulls, they should still tank IMO and try to get a top 3 pick. As noted previously, repeating again: this is virtually impossible. Less than 1 chance in 300.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) He could hit .360 for the season and people here would still say he sucks. That would be a hell of a season for him.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) As usual, ignored until irrelevant. Like say, the case of the Senator I'm mocking subtly with the initial post?
  14. 2nd inning of the home opener and Soriano is being booed.
  15. BTW, the "Hollinger Playoff predictor" over at ESPN has it at 93%-7% for Cleveland over Chicago.
  16. The Marlins fans still have some fight in them.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Especially Harang. That dude has fallen off a cliff since 2007. I actually like Arroyo. Not sure how much he gets paid. But he's an ideal 4th starter. Link
  18. Robert Shiller (yes, that one) on the Housing market. The government supports for the housing market pretty much all end over the next month or two. After that, you've got a couple of months while things that close are absorbed into the data, and by the middle of the summer, we may start getting a sign about whether or not I'm right and the housing market still has a decent ways to fall.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) 0.1% > 0.0% You are welcome. And what are the odds of both Lebron and Shaq being injured and out for the whole series? Is that >0.1%?
  20. I'm sure I'm the only one who watches Fox's full Sunday lineup any more, but in case anyone else watches American Dad...last night's episode left me with no choice but to post this.
  21. My local newspaper yesterday featured a 2 page spread on the scandal of a corrupt current Senator paying off his mistress's family. Oh, wait, wrong John again.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) And I actually didn't get to see that swing (only saw parts of yesterday's game), so maybe that's a sign he's calming down a bit. Hopefully. Got out in front of a high inside fastball and drove it to LF.
  23. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) That was definitely a chicken sh*t bush league move. Ozzie should drill Hardy next time he faces the Sox. Make his 3rd base coach think twice about doing something like that again. Drilling Hardy seems less effective than finding a way to drill the 3rd base coach.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) Anything is better than 0%... and that is the chance the Bulls have of beating the Cavaliers. Could you please demonstrate that mathematically for me?
