The Yankees/A's game has been stuck on 7's for quite some time now. CC went 6.2 innings, 7 runs, 6 earned. Somewhat inconsistent from him so far, his ERA's sitting on 4.81.

Seeing what the other thread turned in to, I'm not even sure I want to go here, but what the Hell. Bunch of other torture leaks/reports today, some inspired by last week's disclosures, some working on their own schedule. First, a report from McClatchy: And a detailed report came out from the Senate Armed Services committee today, explaining why, as was pretty much expected, all those memos looked like they were being written to legally justify things that had already been done; they were written to legally justify things that had already been done. Lots of other stuff in that report about how the torture program was developed.

QUOTE (Cubano @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) I saw a good cutter from him against lefties. He needs to use that more. His velocity was OK for his age. El Duque with not as good stuff as El Titan knew how to pitch. Maybe, Contreras needs to start brushing some lefties with some high gas. He won't do it. He has a good heart and would not try to come close of hurting anybody even though brushing somebody does not mean hitting a batter. Jose throws a cutter?

QUOTE (Cubano @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) The slow start for the Missile will cost him a chance to be at least in the fight to be an all star. Alexei would have to be hitting about .550 at the AS Break to have a legit shot. He's up against the legendary Yankee captain at that position. The best he could possibly hope for is 2nd. Jeter would have to be sucking and every single press report would have to lead off with how good the guy in 2nd place is doing for Jeter to lose that vote.

No Jerry Owens?

Florida started this series against the Pirates as an 11-1 team. They're leaving as an 11-4 team.

QUOTE (Ron @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) On topic, If Ben G will accept a reasonable offer, we should keep him. The main problem the Bulls are going to have is keeping Gordon and having the cap room to sign a Bosh or Stoudamire. It would most likely mean Hinrich or Deng is gonna be outta of here, and quick. Here's the question. Let's assume we can move Hinrich for spare parts without sacrificing too much this year. Given this choice, which option do you pick? 1. Having the cap space for a max offer in 2010 2. Signing Ben Gordon for something less than a max offer in 2009? Sadly, you answer probably depends on how highly you value Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah. If you think they can develop significantly from what they did this year, then keeping BG7 as your shooting guard next to Rose is an obvious choice. If you think that they're going to continue to be inconsistent, regress, whatever, then you want to do everything you can to get your hands on Bosh.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) We could just withdraw from the Declaration of Paris in 1856 and reinstate Letters of Marque. Because I'm just dying to get my hands on the wealth being held on those pirate ships.

A run an inning is not change we can believe in! Oh wait, wrong forum. Dah.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) Please...at least the guy gives you a solid chance everytime he takes the mound. And I applaud his cajones for get back and ready as fast as he did. An ERA of 8 is not a solid chance to win.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) He did pitch 2 games out of the bullpen in 2007. I hope you're right though, and they're not afraid to make the move if necessary. If he keeps pitching as poorly as he did today, then maybe you click down 2-3 more starts and then you give someone like Richard or someone from AAA a spot start or two. The guy is just coming back from a nearly catastrophic injury, he hadn't pitched in a long time as of the start of ST, and he has an awful lot of stuff that needs to go right for him to control things effectively.

Why is it that I'm so much more effective at writing papers after 6:00 p.m.?

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Might as well root for him to turn it around, because there's no way KW or Ozzie will pull him from the rotation unless he's injured. Didn't they pull him for the bullpen in 2007?

From his start on June 7, 2005, through his start on Jul 30, 2005, period of 9 games, Jose put up an ERA over 6. From May 10th to July 30th, he put up an ERA of 5.3, covering nearly 3 months of the season. He could be done. I'm not so sure we stop running him out there just yet though. His biggest problem is always throwing strikes. He walked 5 today. He can't do that. If he walks 1 or 2, and is pitching ahead of people, then he still can get outs with how much his stuff moves.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:30 PM) You have to wonder what this team's psyche was after MacDougal was DFA'd. Seriously?

QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Little 500 this week. Do y'all get a decent concert?

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) I'd love to keep him. But didn't he turn down a 5-55 deal? If he wants more then that, peace out. He will come no where close to that this offseason.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) The only argument is whether he should have started at Winston-Salem or BIRM. We only have this kid for four years...we don't have 2-3 years to "baby" him along...at worst, we would hope to have him ready for the 2011 season, but some were thinking he might make an impact this season, which STILL might happen. Giving a contract structured like that to a 19 year old could really come back to bite us in the ass.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) I love it that you're now a legal expert and know that illegal acts were committed. So I take it you would support the appointment of a special prosecutor to conduct an investigation to determine whether or not enough evidence exists for charges to be filed?
