  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) That stuff on Lexi is scary. No time to over-react but wasn't he almost considered a great fielder at second base? No
  2. At Lebron's age then, I'll go 6. Some years someone will be off or hurt. And I think they'll start wearing out at around the same point KG is currently at...31 or 32.
  3. Another in case you missed it...in 1995, an industry funded group took a look at the science on anthropogenic climate change, and concluded: That same group then ignored that report, buried it, and kept on saying that the science was inconclusive. I wonder why... Really does remind you of the tobacco lawsuits.
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) if i'm not mistaken, Specter voted for all the bailouts, economic stimulus plan, and big spending in general. no big loss if he's gone. But, he was also one of the key votes that got $100 billion that we really could have used chopped off of the stimulus package. Give us that seat and we're at 60.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) How is drafting Stafford right? The Dolphins won 1 more game then Detroit last year, and they went into the draft and got a franchise LT and signed a veteran QB. The Lions should have done that. What veteran QB? Leftwich? Grossman? Losman? Culpepper? (Oh, wait.)
  6. A tentative budget deal has been struck. The kicker...health care. There is a process in the Senate to get around the Filibuster...the budget reconciliation process, which can be used for anything involving the budget, which by senate rules is not subject to the filibuster. The Republicans used this repeatedly in the last 8 years, and I'm sure the Democrats complained a lot when they did it. If no Health Care measure is passed in line with the budget by October 15th of this year, then the Senate will have the right to deal with Health care by the reconciliation process. Which means no filibuster. Which means the minority needs to negotiate or the minority doesn't have to be listened to at all, unlike most of the other bills coming through. Hardball? Absolutely. Harder ball than giving the stimulus package zero votes? In the eye of the beholder. This may mean that a climate change plan waits until 2010 though.
  7. Starting this fight up again is less painful than looking at the current White Sox/Blue Jays score. The very same people who the Republicans have been using to say "oh, it's ok, it's not torture" called it torture and said it was unreliable. (P.s. You'll note...I've started a torture thread. It's a torture discussion thread. Now it doesn't have to go in the catch all threads. yay.)
  8. I have not had enough beer to look at the score of that ballgame again.
  9. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) no one cares. well Specter probably does, but he deserves to lose. You will care when that seat becomes competitive because Toomey can't take the General like Specter can.
  10. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) That was all it took? I should've said that months ago. That's just mean.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) 4th straight game and 6th time this season that we've seen this exact lineup. Very nice. Actually, I'd almost rather see an extra off day here or there for guys, esp. Dye if we could somehow swing that.
  12. And while we're at it, I don't think Representative Barton understands what a metaphor is.
  13. I think everyone here should be able to find something they like in this exchange.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) There was none, and there shouldn't have been. It probably said mostly the same thing. Like I said a few pages ago...when a report on violence by left wing extremists (animal rights groups, anti-globalization groups, environmental groups) was made by the DHS, no one batted an eyelash. When a report about right wing extremists came out from the DHS, Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, Beck, Bachmann, etc. all suddenly thought "This could be aimed at me!" I wonder why...
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) agreed. But I worry about the cap implications. The Bears should be fine on cap room for the foreseeable future. The big worry for next year was going to be that they didn't have a QB under contract, and they might get stuck franchising Orton just to avoid losing him. They've been aggressive with extensions and making sure they used up the cap every year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cutler extended on this year's cap before the end of October, depending on whatever moves they make. They could easily trade for Boldin, extend Boldin, probably extend Cutler, and maybe still have some room for some lower level FA's if they wanted to spend the money. And that doesn't include any thoughts of next year being uncapped.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) I don't like the idea of giving up another pick and I do think Boldin has a lot of injury concerns, but I wouldn't be opposed to giving up a 2nd round pick for Boldin. I wonder if there's a physical reason for his price dropping.
  17. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I thought Buerhle was throwing today. Oh well...I will be there as well...I hope to get a poster as well. It's interesting how much we're shuffling our rotation early this season. Can't think of any other year where Ozzie's done this.
  18. You are so banned for that one...
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) Boldin available for cheaper price I'd take him for that. I'd offer a 3rd next year as well.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) You can almost guarantee this would happen. There might be some way to do an actual intervention correctly. I'm afraid I just don't know what it is, and without a hell of a lot more information on the AfPak governments, the players, who has the keys to the bombs, etc., I'm in no position to judge.
