  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) Nothing to see here. Bush told me Iraq was the root of all evil. I trust him. I was also told bombing Taliban in Pakistan was wrong and should not be done. Fighting terror on non-Traqi/Afghani soil was wrong.I trust him. Was that really necessary?
  2. Bradley says he needs more time off to recover from the Groin injury...and says that the media is trying to make him "Snap".
  3. First polling for the PA 2010 Senate Primary race (less than a year away) is in...Arlen Specter is currently being crushed by former Club for Growth head Pat Toomey (who Challenged Specter in 2004 and narrowly lost). 51-30 in favor of Toomey. 21 point lead, with Specter not just under 50, but barely above the 20's. That's an almost impossible position to recover from.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 09:21 AM) I just want to find out where the majority of the regulars sit on this, that's all. If the consensus is that I need to do nothing, then that's fine. I think the solution is for you to ship Giordano's to the rest of us. That'll brighten the mood in here so rapidly...
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) You don't know, and I don't know. But you want to side on the hate Bush crowd. But I'm listening to the people who repeatedly have said so, one of whom you keep trying to cite for 1/3 of the things his memo said. To me, that's an important distinction.
  6. We go through this same exercise every time we hit a vehemently discussed issue that comes up in a number of ways. I have very few problems with how things currently sit. If it's getting on your nerves, the options are very simple; use the ignore button or take a few days off from the Filibuster. There's a reason I disappeared from PHT last night mid-game.
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) I think it's because he is such a weird guy and has this aversion to developing young talent. He finds it much safer to go with older players than stick his neck out and try young guys. Mark Prior says "look what he did for me!"
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 07:04 AM) Maybe it wasn't such a terrible idea to shake his hand afterall? They're so gonna trash that island beforehand...
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 08:48 AM) Read your own papers that you want to prosecute people over... they tried many things and only did waterboarding as a last resort, and only to 3 people. And it did get results, but just not in your precious documents that were blacked about on that part. They by no means did any of this as a last resort, and in the same documents you want to cite they say that they didn't have enough time to finish and everything obtained under torture was in the process of being obtained by other means. Both the memo from the DNI last week and the Op-ed piece in the NYT say the exact same thing, and it is 100% in disagreement with what you're saying. You are choosing to take 1 paragraph out of context because it fits your case.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:30 PM) I don't care about his HGH use. It's not like he broke any major MLB records while using it. But he might not have stayed in the league without it.
  11. More coming. The ACLU's lawsuits are paying off in droves.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) Why was it "torture", Balta? Because keeping a man awake for well over a week while repeatedly beating him and slamming him against a wall (Oh I'm sorry, slapping and walling him) meets my standard. And because the U.S. has set the standard that waterboarding is torture in the past by prosecuting people (specifically the Japanese) who used that technique against Americans for torture.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) Funny statement, because they pretty much only redacted the "good" things that came out of it... The names of the people who did the torturing?
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) LINK I think the most bizarre part of her little discussion about the torture was the way she said it. It was just so, weird.
  15. That's the best news of the night in Chicago Sports. Hell, that's about the only good news.
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Anyone mention yet how the Obama administration only released the papers showing what type of interrogation techniques we used, while they refuse to release the papers showing how many lives were saved and terrorist attacks were stopped because of these interrogation techniques. That's kinda odd, huh? Not in the least. The specific documents that were released came out based on an FOIA act request by the ACLU and multiple court orders requiring their release. The only thing that was their decision is how much to attempt to redact, and if they redacted too much, they'd risk having another court order them to un-redact a good chunk.
  17. And now we get the other side of Ben Gordon.
  18. There's something poetic about this statement from Barclay's. The company they're talking about? The New York Times.
  19. 11 TO's in 14 freaking minutes. Can Colon come in at C for us?
