  1. How is this man not considered an enemy on the North Side yet?
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) That was my point, and it was a point facilitated in part by Mr. Obama's words. So, for you 2...let me ask this in response... What could have been done to prevent this? We have a guy who, as far as we can tell, has a moderately violent background (fistfight with a neighbor on his record or something like that but no charges filed) who decides to go stock up on guns and ammunition and shoots up a bunch of police officers. You can't tell me that having a more armed populace would have prevented it. Because for crying out loud, he shot a bunch of cops. If anyone's going to already be armed, it's them. The guy has an AK47 and a bunch of other heavy weapons, magnum pistol, etc. Do you guys just consider these 3 to be collateral damage? Or can you offer a suggestion as to how this could have been prevented.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) A hat that says "Gary Sheffield" A BALCO one.
  4. If Colon and Contreras can just come out and pitch like that occasionally...this team will be really, really dangerous.
  5. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Seems this guy probably had a temper considering he threw a food tray at a drill sergeant. Either way, anyone who would want to do something horrendous like this has some serious mental issues. I think the thing that bothers me most is that there's a whole group of people right now who are selling exactly the myth he bought in to. Here, for example, is Wayne LaPierre from the NRA on Glenn Beck's show saying that the 2nd amendment is "Under fire" and Under attack. Here's a gun shop owner in Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago saying that he thinks confiscation of firearms might be coming. 1.2 million more gun registration permits have been issued in the last 6 months compared to the year beforehand.
  6. I'm gonna post this here and see what people think. I'm not sure what to take from it except to be a little freaked out. We've already seen gun purchases surge since the election, now people are dying.
  7. QUOTE (tommy @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Both Brian and Wise walked, loaded for Lillibridge with 2 out. Actually they're loaded for Lilli, who grounded to short.
  8. 4 innings, 1 hit, 3 k's, 0 bb, 57 pitches for Jose Contreras. Colon in. K's Tracy, the first batter against him, looking. Colon K's the side in the 5th.
  9. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) BJ Raji.. Orakpo is from Texas Gracias, you are correct. Raji is the one rumored to have been on something.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) have you checked out the new gameday? it's pretty great. they say what a hitter loves/hates to face. For Wise it was "loves: four-seem fastball" and "hates: four-seem fastball"!! There';s a note that they may be charging for access to some of these featuresl
  11. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) can we also have someone to pinch run for him everytime he gets on base? That seems like an excellent use for a guy who was 9/9 on steals last year
  12. Single, walk, single off of LInebrink for a run scored
  13. After checking, I think that its' Gameday Premium they're charging for. Hot/cold lists, audio feeds, etc. Hopefully they still have standard gameday available for free
  14. Really? You've so got to be kidding.
  15. 5 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk for Danksy
  16. I wonder when the next time we'll see our leadoff hitter on base will be.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) I did not include Clayton Richard or Chris Getz since they are opening the season on the major league roster. Next on my list would be John Shelby followed by Brandon Allen and Hudson. I actually think the Sox need to focus heavily on improving there pitching prospects as there are very few starting prospects I like. I saw Hudson pitch though and I f***ing love him. Marquez doesn't register?
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo, those guys are franchise QBs. Someone you are pretty sure that year in and year out is going to lead your offense, and you're not thinking about acquiring someone else. Cutler is definitely in that group. We're not necessarily talking about Hall of Famers. If we're counting those guys as franchise QB's, then Cutler is definitely. I think it's clear that Manning, Brees, and Brady are currently on another level, then there's a larger second tier consisting of those guys, perhaps with several of them knocking on the door of that top tier. If you're going with the top 3 as the only franchise QB's in the league, then Cutler isn't, because he's not (yet) at that level (but could be with time; see Brees). If you're going to include even part of the 2nd tier, then he counts.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) His numbers so far don't scream "franchise QB" at me. But he's awfully close (they do scream "above average, young longtime starter" at me as is, which some people might think is franchise QB), he's better than anything the Bears have had in 60 years, and I think his best days are still ahead of him, in which he has a very good chance at being a true franchise QB. I think it's fair to point out this trade involved a bit of a case of overpaying, and that it could work out poorly for the Bears, but some people simply don't seem to like this trade or understand why the Bears made it (this is a general observation, not me talking about you BobDylan because I don't know your full opinion of it), and that's a bit ridiculous in my opinion. How do we define "Franchise QB" in the first place?
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20090403/pl_politico/20871 What an arrogant piece of s***. This man is ruining our country. I'm glad that he's supported to do so. That sounds to me exactly like the attitude he should be taking.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) The rockies in Colorado used to be home to all sorts of large predators, that were rapidly extinguished from the area - wolves, Grizzlies, etc. - during the 19th and early 20th centuries. As a result, the non-predatory animals like Elk and other ungulates, realized they didn't need to stick to the margins of the forest and the creek beds to feed - they now fed in the open. This allowed the greenery along the creeks to grow much more out of control than they had before. This resulted in huge dams of debris, and this was made worse by the fact that mink, beavers, etc. were also reduced and could no longer stage the creeks. This in turn resulted in much wilder swings in river levels downstream. That resulted in much more catastrophic floods, such as, the Big Thompson flood that killed a lot of people in Colorado. When they reintroduced the grey wolf to Yellowstone, it was absolutely shocking how rapidly that cleared up.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) Rumor is USC's LB's have tested positive (excluding Maluga) for steroids and that Percy Harvin had a positive marijuana test. Carrol has already came out and said the reports are BS. There's also a rumor that Orakpo from BC was on something at the combine.
