Twins have "internal discussions" about Cabrera and Crede

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) Your team for what? You want to get rid of 90 HR's and replace them with what? Are the Sox moving away from the Cell? Like it or not...something needs to be done about the OF/DH situation. We're playing a corner OF in CF because we have too many corner OF's, and we're playing a DH in RF because we have too many DH's. Even assuming Griffey walks there are more guys in need of playing time than there are at-bats for them. Move Anderson and some of that clears up, but you still have Swisher as your only option other than Wise/Owens in CF, which is a bad place to be, and Dye is still in RF which is a bad place for him to be. The reality is...as this roster is constructed now and with what we've seen from people this year...it would be really nice to be able to field a Swisher/Anderson(maybe platoon)/Quentin OF, pick which direction you want to go in, because it dramatically improves the defense. But you can't do that when you have all 3 of Dye, Thome, and Konerko on your roster, because 2 of them have to play defense somewhere. There are just too many pieces right now for the spots to put them in...and the pieces that might actually compliment the other guys well (i.e. Anderson plays some defense) are stuck behind several layers of other guys. We need to move 1 guy somewhere, just to clear playing time. Even if it's Anderson. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) What's the experts' opinion on Lexi at ss. Is he supposed to be a great gold glove type? Or an Alan Bannister? Or something in between? We could be hurting without a veteran ss. What do you guys think will happen at 2b and ss for next season? -- I don't want to play against Cabrera 18 times and definitely not Crede 18 times. I don't know if there really is an "Expert" opinion. The expert opinion on Alexei coming in to this season was that he was a career backup, and he's been nearly all star worthy instead. What we keep hearing is that 2nd base is his 3rd best position, with SS as #1 and CF as #2. But like all things...you believe it when you see it. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Wow, that actually could make a lot of sense. CC obviously is gone, and I haven't followed the situation closely enough to know if Sheets is in the Brewers plans. With that said, I have to imagine the Brewers want to continue to contend, and not rebuild. Vazquez would be a real inning eater for them, and a serviceable #2 in the NL. Sheets is a FA. They'll bid on him but with his injury history they're not going to overdo it, someone will take a gamble on him for a lot more money than the Brewers would put up. -

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) I'm not doubting you. It still doesn't matter, though, because whether he's talented and injured or just a recent reincarnation of Joe Borchard neither scenario helps the White Sox next season. Guys coming off injury can't help us next season? -
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) oh hell no. don't even bring it up as a possibility i can only imagine what bailout II would entail. So many things that need earmarks...so little time..l..

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) These are usually the moments where I point out that, once again, our lack of ANYTHING resembling positional talent in the higher levels of the minor league system is killing our ballclub. Just imagine if we were able to plug in Fields at 3B. Or if we, god forbid, had a Deonard Span coming up to make Dye expendable. Go on down the line -- someone at 1B to make Konerko expendable, or catcher to make AJ expendable. Gordon Beckham really better be a can't miss prospect. And hopefully one of several this system produces in the next several seasons. I'll just point out again...by far the biggest reason why we can't plug Fields in at 3b and count on him for a 30 HR full season yet is injury, not talent. -
11 LOB.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) come on lexi... this is huge... too much to ask for a double? Ask for the single. It takes a triple to score Konerko. Maybe.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) 2 out, nobody out. I know the White Sox would never pinch hit for Thome, but this would be the perfect time to lay down a bunt. If they put the shift on for him...seriously, why not? It's a guaranteed hit.
-
Well, that sets us up nicely for 11 LOB.
-
10 LOB. What, too soon?
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) Does anyone have any confidence that we can actually manufacture a run against that bullpen? No but we're due for a solo homer.
-
QUOTE (tommy @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) We need quick inning from Mark here. Be really nice to retire Aybar.
-
9 LOB in 6 innings.
-
QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) Was Swisher looking up to pray? Trying to find the top part of the strike zone.
-
I could go for a WP right now.
-
QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Here comes Balfour and Cabrera. Let's see if anything happens this time. Hopefully something involving a bat and a baseball.
-
Come on O, we're getting sick of this crap.
-
Why AJ why?
-
If we don't get another runner here then Kazmir will go the 6th.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) i say we try josh fields some night, just for the s*** of it. lol Fields's problem right now is he's on a bad leg, at least one. He's scheduled for surgery when the season ends. They probably only have him on the roster as an emergency infield defensive backup, if Alexei, Uribe, or OC can't go. Otherwise I doubt he'll see an at bat.
-
Come on Mark, keep it going...
-
Yay, hits!
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) Nah. A Gilbert Gottfried type voice would make it exponentially better. 2 words. Stewie Griffin.

46 pitches through 3 for MB. Mark, think you can make that 1 run lead last through 7-8?
