  1. If you're there mid-week (not Friday and Saturday)...go to "The Hotel at Mandalay Bay" about an hour before sunset. Go up to the top floor...and you can get in to the "Mix Lounge" for free before 10:00 on most weekdays. The view of the strip at sunset is incredible, probably the best view in the city, and you don't get kicked out of the over-the-window tables until 10:00 (when bottle service takes over). At that point you can stay or depart, but it's free and excellent.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 09:07 AM) I was waiting for someone to post this. Probably deserves to go in the Diamond forum too. Already there. And in PHT. It'd be in my Sig if I could get the HTML on option for it.
  3. Awww, that's cute, look, America Jr. is holding an election too. AWWWWWW.
  4. Everyone on this site should view this video at least once. Make sure you're able to laugh loudly.
  5. This video should be posted as many times on this message board as humanly possible, and should be viewed by EVERYONE. Non-partisan, I promise. Just watch. SFW, as long as you're allowed to laugh loudly.
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) Our military forces are probably in Pakistan right now. I don't remember getting their permission. I would rather hunt these guys everywhere they are instead of saying, Dear Pakistan, we are going to violate your borders on Tuesday at 3 oclock in the morning, we are the guys wearing black outfits dropping from a black helicopter. Or the 3rd mechanized is crossing the border near Tora Bora. Please make sure that the locals have Cakes and Pie. Actually...we had a shooting fight between ground forces with the Pakistani army about a week or so ago. It barely got noticed because of the stock market debacle.
  7. Anyone who had "My friends" in a drinking game.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) What is that thing on CNN? What's it mean? They have some kind of detector hooked up to all the uncommitted voters in Ohio? Small focus group of "Undecided voters" with a fancy little approve/disapprove dial in front of them.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Trade...there was a lot of talk in the 2nd half about the Rockies, who they would keep and who they would shed. I always worry about NL players making the adjustment their first season in the far-superior AL...seems the numbers over there are too inflated to trust in terms of instant translation into AL numbers. The talent and pitching in the AL is just not comparable at this point in time, although I never thought I'd live to see the day where NL teams were averaging better offensive output than many AL teams without a DH. Just a symptom of bad pitching over there, mostly. Especially when you talk about the Coors field environment thrown in as another variable. No matter how big of a hitters park the Cell is, We've seen enough guys be "Coors field studs" that you have to worry about that when dealing with the Rockies.
  10. Ok, Almost debate time...time for me to get the hell out of here and go to the gym.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) In fact, I would argue the opposite. Those comments for next year make me think Swisher will be gone for sure. KW is always, if nothing else, counter-intuitive to the majority of Sox fans in his thinking and methodology. If he moves him, I just hope he gets a quality offer. I don't like selling low on people to clear space.
  12. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) Let's see. I'll bet that all the false registrations registered as Democrats, that some low level flunky will be charged with doing this on thier own, despite a pattern around the country of ACORN doing this very thing, and the democrats on here will try to say that this is no big thing, only a few names, no pattern, and just distracts from the 'issues'. And I'll bet that we'll wind up finding maybe 20, 25 people in the country who actually try to vote twice. And in an effort to prevent that, we'll wind up making sure a few hundred thousand people don't vote. It will probably just go for naught, but here's ACORN's response, saying that they already informed the government about a couple problem applications and have repeatedly responded to requests for information about those people, 46 to be exact out of some 80,000 new applications in Clark County, Nevada
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) I, too, have brought that up. I have difficulty putting in to words how pathetic I find the fact that they've managed to turn this in to a legit issue that they spend time on.
  14. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) Didn't someone post a list of all the free agents for 2009? That should be stickied. It is. Just in the MLB Forum.
  15. Offer him arbitration, sign him to a short 1-3 year deal if he's interested, maybe about $3-$4 million a year, as a utility guy who is excellent with the glove at 3 infield positions. Don't plan on him starting any of them unless someone gets hurt. If someone else outbids you, then move on to Getz/Bourgeois.
  16. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Anyone else interested in Garland? Not until you give me contract details. At the price Garland was being paid this year...not unless we move Javy.
  17. So, barring KW's surprise trade or two of the offseason, here's sort of what I want to see next year. OF: Swisher (don't want to trade him after a down year) OF: Anderson (Don't think we could get equal value for him in a trade, trading him would be like the Phillies trading Gavin Floyd) OF: Quentin (Duh) 3b: Fields (He was hurt all year, and it's time for him to sink or swim. It'd be nice to keep a backup plan around, but there's better places to spend our money than on a veteran 3b this offseason). SS/2B: Alexei + Blank. Here, I really don't know. 1b: Konerko/Swisher Odd man out: Dye/Konerko. Neither one of them are ideal trade baits, although I think JD is the more logical one to move. Offensively, I just don't think we can get better with the big 3 all still around. Konerko's coming off such a down year that I think you have to keep him because no one will give you anything useful for him. Rotation: If you're moving Javy, you better have 2 more starters ready, that's all I'll say here. Bullpen: Seriously, what the Hell happened to Logan? How does a guy actually implode like that with the stuff he has? I actually really like our bullpen as its set right now, although adding Contreras might be nice if possible. Needs: Moving one of the big 3. We just have too many guys right now who should be playing DH. It's time to move one. Another Middle Infielder. Another starting pitcher, possibly even just a backup/6th starter option if we think Richard or Broadway have a #5 starter in them.
  18. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) I still don't like that deal. I'd like the Angels deal but with Javy we should target pitching. Even though Javy has kicked the genitalia of every Sox fan out there, let's not forget he's still a #3 starter capable of pitching in the AL and in the Cell. He's very valuable to this team over a 162 game season, if not in the playoffs, so we'll need to pick some guys up that we'll be able to count on to replace that next year and going forward. You know he included "Adenhart", a pitcher in what he wrote, correct?
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) Even though it worked out great, that Lee for Pods+Vizcaino deal was still a rip-off. Kenny should've picked up a prospect there. Financially we were in a different era. The money was what KW got. You don't get the 2004 offseason brewers to spend a ton of money and give up a prospect too.
  20. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:24 AM) ^^Dude, they the only option to not have Thome here is to trade him. And he continues to have a full NTC.
  21. 33 pitches for 2 through G. 13 pitch inning there. Not too bad, would like to avoid the silly 2 out walk from her on out.
