  1. QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:01 PM) and the most strategic home field in baseball. And perhaps most importantly, a solid young starting pitching staff.
  2. LOL an Obama commercial up during a game on TBS.
  3. Blackburn actually walks Alexei. AJ thinks "Hmmm, I'll swing at the first pitch"
  4. "Guys, Alexei just walked. This guy must be having trouble throwing strikes. We should think about that more"
  5. QUOTE (hockisles @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) flip a coin to see who wins the game then.. For both of these teams home field is a HUGE advantage. What makes a coin flip fair? Every other year 1 team gets 10 games at home and 1 team gets 9 games at home. How is that fair?
  6. Man that first pitch was the kind Jim ought to have just killed...
  7. Tonight's CBS Palin Brain-oscopy. Governor Palin, which newspapers do you read?
  8. Man, with the kind of team like the Sox have, it's just sad that the best option for our #2 hitter is to be bunting after a single in the first inning in a tie game.
  9. Yankees finally extend Cashman through 2011.
  10. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) I'd be surprised if our hitters see anything more than 20% fastballs tonight I hope to god they're prepared to look for breaking balls Even a knuckleballer usually throws more than 20% fastballs.
  11. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) There are term limits already. They're called elections. The problem is, thanks to Gerrymandering and the fundraising advantages of incumbency, even those only go so far these days.
  12. Gwen Ifill, who is scheduled to moderate Thursday's VP debate, broke her ankle today carrying debate related materials up some stairs. She's still expected to moderate.
  13. So, here's a fun ad, paid for by the RNC, that tries to link Obama's spending plans to the bailout bill in a bad way. Now, I wonder why any of these endangered incumbents might think that they'd be hurting themselves if they voted for the bailout package. Totally beyond me how they'd expect anyone to ever use that against them. It's a bipartisan bill after all right? No one will ever use it in attack ads.
  14. Is there no "None of the above" under MVP? No one in the league wanted it. Ralph Wiggum for MVP.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) I'm hearing that Al Davis just fired Kiffen. Davis is a douchebag. Kiffin ought to find a job surprisingly quickly.
  16. In an intelligent proposal, Senator Obama suggests increasing the amount of money the FDIC insures to $250k.
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:15 AM) Hey, that seems like a popular line around here. Seriously, I guess that's why I'm still highly disappointed in this race. It's the same mudslinging garbage we all see every year, and this is just the beginning... Remember...they wouldn't do it if it wasn't so successful every single time.
  18. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) do you think we see Swish or is Wise still in there? in a perfect world I'd put BA in LF, Swish at 1B and Paulie at DH. Frankly, yes, I think we'll probably see wise or Swisher in LF tomorrow. I'd guess Wise.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) Sorry guys, but I'd still go Evan. Hopefully Alexei makes up for it by getting a World SEries MVP this year Does the voting for these awards happen before or after Alexei's record breaking day against the Twins tomorrow?
  20. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) Danks' numbers ain't good. But if he gets hit, who do you turn to? Richard? Javy? We don't have many options. Richard gave us 3 innings of 1 run ball on Saturday against Cleveland. If he's available, he's our best long man option.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Here's a fun one... Whose to blame for this crisis? How about Sarbane's Oxley? http://www.forbes.com/home/2008/09/29/mark...29gingrich.html So, basically the connection to Sarbanes/Oxley there is that it prevents accountants from being able to lie despite what their books are telling them? Isn't that still a good thing in this case? That piece argues strongly against the "Mark to Market" rule. It throws Sarbanes-Oxley in as a sideshow.
