  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) I also don't believe that the graph will end up being true. There is no way the system will get to the point where health care takes up 50% of GDP, which makes all of the scare tactics moot. I agree, it won't get to that point. Because beforehand, we're going to get a President who finally rebuilds this disaster of a system and fixes it before we get there. Hehe.
  2. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) It's a totally ridiculous criticism. Of course Chelsea is going to support her mother and good on her for doing it however she wants. That being said the Clinton response is just as over-the-top and we can all see why. Because MSNBC just keeps doing this and won't stop?
  3. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) I can't find that quote in the speech. Page 3, towards the end. He has to leave the race because if he doesn't it would help the Dems and that is tantamount to a surrender to terror.
  4. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 01:05 PM) If you don't feel that's right, then fine. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. So is it your opinion that all of the Democratic voters here and everywhere in the country want to "Surrender" to Al Qaeda?
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) I wonder if the MSNBC debates will now be called off. I was surprised the Clintons went on there after N.H. at all. But then again, every time Matthews makes an ass of himself, her poll numbers improve.
  6. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 12:08 PM) The NBA playoffs are a joke. When you have 3 teams under .500 in one conference potentially getting in, you know something is wrong. Cut the field in half. Yeah, because 8 seeds never, ever have a chance against 1 seeds. Why waste that round? I mean, I can't even remember a time in my lifetime when an 8 seed has beaten a 1 seed. A better option might be to dump the conference format and just go straight off of record seeding. That way, if the best 2 teams in a year were, say, Phoenix and San Antonio (perish the thought those 2 could be the top 2 teams, when would that ever happen?) then you would have a shot at saving that matchup for the finals.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 10:25 AM) It also doesn't address the fact that cutting costs is going to create new problems. Yes it will. But if you accept that a significant level of cost-cutting/control is necessary to avoid that situation, where 50% of the GDP of this country is spent on health care, then the question is not "can we tolerate these new problems" it's "problems will happen, what's the best way to deal with them, because the alternative of doing nothing is simply untenable"
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) hopefully 24 will come back soon... I know no season of 24 will ever be like season 1, but Jack Bauer is pure awesome... plus now, Conan can start doing skits again! 24 is probably off until next fall at the earliest...more likely next Jan if they follow their usual spring schedule.
  9. At this point...I really dislike it when a campaign happens.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 07:00 AM) "cutting costs" means cutting jobs or cutting wages, there is no way around it. That is one of the dirty little secrets here. The problem is...doesn't the graph I posted earlier mean that some sort of cost cutting is required no matter who runs the program? If we're on track for 50% of GDP spent on health care in 50 years or so, then simply saying that having the government cut costs is a bad thing doesn't address the fact that someone has to cut costs somewhere.
  11. QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) Man, Huck helping himself out tonight showing up on Colbert and being hilarious(even though i know his supporters probably aren't watching). I could really see him taking Romney's delegates and doing well in Texas IF the media recognizes that he's still there. We'll see. Is this the first time you've seen him on there? He's been on repeatedly and has been pretty good each time. Heck, Stewart and Colbert had him on before his Iowa Straw Poll boost, so you could really say they helped make Huckabee.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) Did Jeebus ever charge the mound while the pitcher was kicking around the rosenbag? I think Nolan Ryan kicked his ass too.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) Uribe for Crisp would be great. But I agree. Give up no more than Juan. That sound you hear is Theo Epstein laughing.
  14. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) Ohhh, we'll drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and FIGHT! How wierd is it that the first time I read this post my mind automatically tried to put it in the format of the Itchy & Scratchy theme?
  15. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Thank you. Everyone talks about Skiles, but Boylan is horrid especially with young players. He's basically screwed up their development. If it wasn't for injuries and Sefo stepping up, he would also be in the same predicament. If the Bulls cant' move Wallace's contract yet, then I think the Bulls have to consider moving smith. He has an affordable contract, hes' a veteran, he's having a good season and is pretty healthy, and if the Bulls could get rid of him, then his minutes would immediately go to the young guys. He ought to have some value in theory for one of these teams, especially the young ones or ones that aren't very deep. Hell, you could package him and Duhon and that's $8 million in contracts that you could move for a couple expiring deals or a player or something like that, maybe get a mid-1st orund draft pick or something.

    Who is dieting?

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) Yeah I can't win either, I'm looking to lose 15 pounds. Hell, I already did the losing weight part, I'm on to the building muscle/keeping fat off part. I'm down 35 or so pounds from 2 years ago, now just trying to hold steady.
  17. Pedro insists he was only a spectator at a cock fight. Well, thank God for that.
  18. QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) Given all of the thugs/jerks Sox fans have stuck up for in the past, it is incredible to see them rip on one of the good guys... Absolutely pathetic If I can put up with Carl Everett's antics during 05...as long as Fields gets out there and does his job on the field, and keeps needles out of his ass, I'm happy to cheer him on. Does that count?
  19. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) She's only out for herself To be fair, what else should she be doing other than looking out for herself at this point? If she thinks it helps her campaign to have more debates, why not call for more debates? It's not like that's some dirty underhanded trick. Hell, Kerry called for Bush to debate "every week" until the election back in 04. The Bush admin laughed it off, but there's nothing untidy about this.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) If I was Phoenix or Memphis, I'd be doing what I could to get TT. Mike Miller could be a possible option. I wonder if the Bulls would have any interest in him (with Thabo running the point)? I dunno. No matter what I'd think it was a terrible idea because I love what the kid could bring to the table with this team. But I think the Bulls right now are lost in this void where they're too smart to trade him but too stupid to play him.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) Any of the Bulls fans notice Thabo had a pretty nice game in Portland last night? Bulls only went down by 3 without Gordon or Hinrich as well. Yea. Supposedly, for the 10 minutes or so he played, TT looked good also. But as usual, TT, Noah, and Gray, 3 of the 4 guys we should be playing more, split about 30 minutes between them.
  22. McCain was booed when he brought up immigration.
  23. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) Hmmm, not surprisingly some more lies are told about Obama in this mailer. I think the Mailers, on both sides, have been by far the worst garbage of this campaign.
  24. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 11:14 AM) Rasmussen Reports: Obama and Clintons tied at 44% Interesting Point: I have long said, "If you aren't for Hillary, you are against her". Well, look at the stats. She has been consistently 35-45%. However, Obama has been in the mid to high 20s. Over the past 2 months, Obama has been pulling MANY of the undecideds and other candidates. He has jumped to 44%. Where is Hillary? Still where she was 3 months ago. Gallup, OTOH, shows the exact opposite.
