The word on ESPN about Alford last night was that Alford would probably take the job, but only if it was basically offered up to him on a silver platter. Their report was that Alford didn't want to go through an interview process where he was one of 4 or 5 candidates.

One of the big things I've learned about biking around here is that y ou can't assume that people are going to see you at intersections. And even if they can see you, you can't assume they're going to stop. I got clipped in the rear wheel about 2 years ago on my way in to school in the morning, since then I've tried to be exceptionally careful at intersections, but I usually still bike across them unless something looks really bad.

The Rangers also picked up starter Adam Eaton and reliever Akinori Otsuka from the Padres, added Vicente Padilla, and a couple of young guys named Juan Dominguez and Kameron Loe. Again, that's not going to challenge the White Sox rotation, but when you're one of the top 2-3 offenses in baseball, you don't have to have the best pitching anywhere in order to win games.
