  1. Second in the NL in runs scored in 2020, 1 behind Los Angeles. Lose Ozuna but swap in Realmuto and...still one of the top NL offenses presumably.
  2. Frank Thomas is trending on Twitter mostly because of 1990s baseball cards.
  3. If I were a fan of the Giants, I would say that they probably can't win the world series without some luck, but I would like to see them adding players of that quality given that they have plenty of money to spend. Just don't waste your money adding a Richards or a Walker. They're not likely to put you over the top, and if you're not going to spend the money on a big name you're better off conserving it. And yeah, with Ozuna I think that lineup can at least challenge for a 2nd wild card.
  4. You know why we do that here? Because when there is a top flight player on the market who fills our needs, we look the other way because they're too expensive. We have Adam Eaton instead of George Springer. I'm excited we got Hendricks because it actually was a top flight player, although still limited in contract because relief pitcher. Add Bauer and I promise to be into it. I get annoyed when we waste money on Adam Eatons because it doesn't take long for that money to add up to the point that it changes your roster for years and prevents us from competing for guys like Bauer or Springer (I counted $50 million or so wasted on 2019). If we start seeing Bauers on the market, realizing they're the best player, and going for them accordingly despite the price, because the franchise thinks "This team can win 100 games this year and this player will help", then that complaint will go away.
  5. The NL East might also be in the boat where they beat up on each other, letting someone else sneak in. But who knows. If there's an 8 team playoff again, which let's just be honest they'll try to find a way to make that work if they can, the Giants would have a very good chance if they added some pieces.
  6. The Giants haven't been bad the last couple years, they were 29-31 last year. They aren't loaded like their division rivals, but with a couple signings (Bauer and a bat) they could easily make a run at one of those wild cards. If there's an extra round next year, they could certainly make a playoff appearance, and then with Bauer and Gausmann in the rotation and a veteran lineup...?
  7. While I don't disagree with the latter claim, there is still the likelihood that you don't get to spend enough money to bring in a SP of that quality. So it's Richards at $7 million or a big trade for someone, because the top FA has been ruled out by ownership.
  8. You pay a big premium for a guy who has already gotten that big league experience and had a modicum of success. Kopech could come up and get hurt again, or look like 2018 Giolito, then the Brewers have to figure out if they've lost all value or how to revive him.
  9. When it comes down to it, I think it's dumb for the Yankees to spend $200 million, have guys like Cole, Stanton, and Judge, and leave that hole in their rotation unnecessarily.
  10. I think the Giants, Angels, and Yankees are still the best options. There's no reason why those teams can't go into Tax territory if they want to, and there's clear pitching needs for LAA and NY.
  11. If Bauer can't get a high dollar amount per year, the solution is to talk about a longer deal. The same deal Springer just got is a fairly cheap deal for him.
  12. He's been a little bit of an injury risk the last few seasons, nothing major or nagging but off and on to the IL, so that's one thing. But then again, moving him to RF is an option, moving him to DH to get additional value in the last couple seasons is also an option. And apparently, if you get him playoff at bats, he turns into Reggie Jackson, so... I'd rather have Springer at that contract than Eaton at his contract, with the other moves the White Sox made.
  13. An America where an attorney general can’t duck insider trading charges for 4 years by blocking the ability of the government to pay the lawyers who would otherwise try the case, and then have all his staff resign in protest of a totally separate bribery case, and then have people still say “this is impressively honest and if you don’t agree you should leave” as a deflection. (For those outside Texas, that’s all true about their Attorney General. But he strongly opposes Pennsylvania’s electors!)
  14. Ironically Texas’s attorney general was happy to accept that bribe.
  15. Who is going to beat them? It looks like them and the Cardinals, and probably a decent chance that one wild card comes out of that division with the weakness on the other 3 teams.

  17. Out of the 2, Walker seems to have lost more velocity compared to when he came up.
  18. But out of the guys remaining not named Bauer, you can make a case that he's the highest reward player.
  19. I’m glad you have reawakened after your exactly 4 year long nap. I have some bad news for you.
  20. A person in a work environment would likely be uncomfortable receiving either, particularly if it would affect their career.
  21. This type of behavior has nothing to do with mental illness.
