    This is one I fundamentally disagree with. 4 of the last 5 years, the team that won the World Series has been a monster. 100+ wins, or on a pace that would get there if not for a virus. We do not have time for growing pains next year, whether that’s from pitching, 2b, DH, or whatever else.

    The difference between a Moncada anda Madrigal remains the team around them. The White Sox are hoping to challenge the Yankees and the Dodgers and the Padres next year. They can’t afford to have Madrigal need 2 full years before he breaks out. That could easily be the difference between a game 7 at home or on the road.

    Did you not watch that season? Pods was nearly perfect on the base paths for the first half of the year. He had a streak of 22 consecutive bases stolen at one point, the majority of the bases he stole were by July. Then, he hurt his hamstring and was at a 50% or higher rate of being thrown out in the last couple months, and he actually needed to run less that year because of it.

    I'm gonna go with this. Freddie Freeman on a rookie contract would be pretty darn valuable.

    Technically you are correct. He was on the Disabled list once in 2014. They changed it to the Injured list and he was on that in 2018.

    I still wouldn't sign that if I was a pitcher. The trade off is the guaranteed payoff against the risk of injury. 4 years and $50 million is a totally sufficient guarantee against injury, and it still gives you a really good shot at a $200 million deal when you're 29.

    No, you specifically said "We have a mostly honest government, imagine third world countries where corruption is the norm" and you got called out for it, and I believe quite fairly. You then compounded it by saying "But I don't think Nigeria or Nicaragua are doing better" - when in fact, they are. Nigeria has 147 deaths, Nicaragua 168. If the US had the same number of deaths per capita, we'd have under 10,000.

    It's such a sad deflection that it isn't worth responding to. "You should move somewhere else that you'd like better" is not an excuse for corruption or racism or whatever else here to be acceptable and not a big deal.

    Freeman, Belt, and Rizzo currently have contracts that end after 2021. I guess CJ Cron is available now and probably winds up with a 1 year deal. Spotrac includes Ryan Braun and Daniel Murphy as possibles there.

    You say that and I believe (outside of pitching) it still remains the position the White Sox have spent the most money on since 2010 by a lot, with very poor returns.
