I mean this is the problem I have with basically all of the trade concepts - even if you're getting back the better player right now, you are almost certainly weakening the roster as soon as 2 years down the road because you're giving up way more years of control, so if you're saying "win championships" plural...well...then you're IMO better off hoarding your youth.

I mean we basically didn't see his curveball at all this year. That says something about how he's being coached.

The thing with Cease is that we've seen really, really good breaking stuff in spring/exhibition/minor league games that we haven't seen in the big leagues.

The Republican Senators from GA called on the Republican SecState to resign and said "when there is evidence of failures they need to be called out." Their statement called out none and gave no evidence of any, just asserted they exist.

Yup, specifically paying a high price in a trade for a financially cheap but effective pitcher because they don't really have the money to fill that role through FA and know they have to fill it.

Quite frankly, that's a reasonable gamble against this foe.

If he's alive and out of prison, he will win that nomination again if he runs.

Haven't seen this in here yet apologies if I missed the post. The government has funds available to facilitate presidential transitions, as there should be. In 2008, the day after the election, those funds were released to the Obama campaign, allowing them to begin working in government spots. However, this year, a Trump appointed official in the General Services Administration has so far refused to say that a winner in the election has been determined and has refused to release those transition funds. The last time there was a delay after the election was in 2000 - where the contest remained open until December. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/525083-biden-campaign-pushes-gsa-chief-to-approve-transition While a short delay of a few days may not make a huge difference, pressure on that official to make the delay short may be important, given the current multiple-crisis situation. One of the notes cited in the 9/11 commission report for why that disaster was able to happen was the difficulty and complexity of conducting the presidential transition and getting new people in place and up to speed, particularly with a divided Congress.

Worth noting - I don't think Pfizer has any ability to test for this based on their study design. They are testing people for the virus when they first get each dose, and then again if they show symptoms. There's no testing being done of people who don't show symptoms - without that, there's no way to rule out the hypothesis that people get the virus, carry it, and pass it on efficiently. It certainly could be the case, but I don't see any way Pfizer could test for that.

You overestimate them.

$16 million this year, $18 million next year, $4 million deferred. Taking on $16 million this year...yeah I think that this year it's crazy to expect teams to do that while most are cutting salary. Maybe you get a team like Minnesota who says "I can replace Cruz with him", but then that's their big move of the year.

While that would be nice, despite his high OBP this year, the lack of power, the weak defense, and outright bad base running left him a 0 WAR player. So, if he can’t fix the power part, he has to dramatically improve the other two. Normally I’d have said “he’s a rookie in a screwed up year with some injuries”, but this kid was supposed to be so highly polished out of college that I don’t think we get to use that excuse for him, he was supposed to be nearly finished.

That was the actions of the President, not the actions of the company. If the president chooses to use a private means to communicate, he is subject to the rules of that company and additional rules due to being the president (which, we should note, he constantly broke, with no consequence).
-
Teams absolutely were playing in on him in the minors. He broke out when he started taking advantage of that and hitting some doubles past them. Doesn’t have to be over their heads every time if you can use the gaps too.

No team is taking on Abreu’s salary and giving up talent for him in this market.
-
Like it or not, he actually traded up to get Trubisky. If he had some other saving grace like a number of playoff runs you could overlook that bust, but 1 playoff team in 6 years, 0 wins, and a bust of a first round QB? The only place you can perform that poorly and keep your job is in a Reinsdorf run organization.

That’s exactly the kind of deal I hate to see the White Sox doing so they will probably do something like that. Dramatically overpay for guys who are only a couple years from FA, leave themselves dramatically depleted on their depth for the next several years.

Neither the constitution nor the courts have any control over a private network’s content decisions, whether that be Twitter or Soxtalk.

State level polls in 2016 were consistent misses, even if national polling was pretty accurate. After 2016, pollsters were supposed to have learned how to correct their samples, 2018 was slightly better but not good, and this year’s polling seems to have missed as badly as 2016 at the state level and had a bigger national miss. Right now, basically polling is bad enough that even the campaigns should not be using them.
