  1. All along I've said that Getz is going to want that higher value price and teams aren't going to pay that price until they see Cease in April. That continues to be the obvious version of how this has gone, no matter how many times people try to push different things through the media.
  2. And yet people tagged me in this thread last night because they needed to brag about the clear and unambiguous fact that things were going to happen.
  3. There is a clear benefit to the White Sox in trying to sell the Yankees on the idea that other teams are interested and putting in new bids, to encourage the Yankees to raise an offer they've been unwilling to improve. We have been watching this the whole offseason, it's a vicious combination of people with similar motivations and no accountability. The White Sox want to make it sound like there is interest in him, insiders know there are no consequences if they're wrong and they get lots of clicks when they can talk about a trade market involving the Yankees, the White Sox know there are no consequences if they exaggerate a little bit in a way that might help them because the insider will push the same story again 2 months later.

He has 2 home runs so he has an .856 OPS in recorded spring games.
  5. The Yankees probably put in calls to both Boras and the White Sox and anyone else who might be selling a pitcher as Due Diligence - seeing if any of them have dropped their price is a reasonable move. The message then gets sent out, probably by Getz - "We've re-engaged with the Yankees" to the insiders, even though if nothing is happening it's probably true that they talked. For the White Sox, they again may put a little pressure on other teams to try to drive the market. In reality, the other teams are wanting to see where they are during the season and where Cease is during the season, and the Yankees aren't yet desperate enough to try to make an all-in move.
  6. If you have an elite SS prospect at AAA, he's probably also top 25 in baseball, maybe better. That's tradeable for elite pitching or all star players (Robert caliber) if you do have a guy fully blocked.

They didn't play for the royals?
  8. Yes, I was adding onto yours. Not only no QO right now so no owed compensation now, but also still could be offered one at the end of this season.
  9. Montgomery was traded last year, so he’s still eligible for a qualifying offer if a team signs him and doesn’t trade him during the year.
  10. But perhaps it should be 0.37 less because Cease has previously been better and we should factor that in.
  11. I don't think it should be "and" as much as "or", but they are clearly going to do something today.
  12. And people like Rosenthal, who probably are actually hearing things, are also at risk of GMs using them to try to drive a market. A ton of that has happened this offseason, it's very clear that Chris Getz was using these guys to try to drive the market. That's why none of the reports have been correct, because people are leaking things to him and Nightingale so that they get clicks and hoping that can create a trade market that hasn't existed so far. So maybe let's add some more skepticism to how we read every one of these reports?
  13. They dunked on me on January 9 in this thread for Rosenthal saying the White Sox were going to get a haul for Cease, again by name. Did that report, which at this point is now incorrect by more than 2 months, cost Rosenthal any credibility? Eventually they're going to be right, because eventually Cease is going to be traded. But who other than me is dunking on Rosenthal for his incorrect reports earlier in this offseason? Who else is tired of these false insider reports and calling them nonsense, when they are.
  14. I literally had people tagging me in a conversation I wasn't in last night to brag about the importance of these new insider reports because they wanted to brag about how things were clearly going down. Y'all want to believe these guys and they pump out super vague clickbait to the point that they're occasionally right, when they say things that wind up completely wrong it doesn't cost them enough credibility that their next set of posts get ignored (see literally 8500 posts in this thread), and y'all bring me in and tag me to brag every time there's a rumor because OMG there's a new insider rumor this is awesome. So sure, feel free to be mad at me for having the audacity to call this out as malarky.
  15. 8500 replies in this thread and you're rolling your eyes at me rather than at Morosi saying a trade is "plausible." I'd say that you guys would believe a post by an Italian beef sandwich if they claimed to be an insider but...well...
  16. Insiders can never fail, we can only fail them.
  17. Wow, it's plausible? I mean, that's the kind of bold statement that really puts one's credibility on the line.
  18. Yes last year was elbow, it was one of those “is he going to need TJS when he ramps back up” ones. But a guy who has soreness of these sorts already, does that mess with his other muscles or mechanics when he is ramping up? Injuries cascading like that is a thing.
  19. bears signed her husband, former Packers DB Jonathan Owens.
  20. I still can’t believe the Mariners paid for this guy, but yes credit to Getz for taking advantage of them.
  21. That means only 3 since Cease is definitely getting traded!
  22. All I did was post open eyeballs, that meant my eyeballs were open while looking at my phone! It's not my fault you guys interpreted that differently!
  23. They also know that no one will judge them if they're wrong, it will never be held against them. They will get all the attention, then wait 3 weeks, then do it again. This has happened a half dozen times this offseason from the same posters! It's why this is such a long thread.
