  1. I'm not sure on that starting rotation yet. Every single one of them has a big question mark or two, at least for 2020, especially given how this year has started. Have Giolito and Lopez convinced you of anything yet? Rodon has been inconsistent his entire career and so far he's lost 2 mph on his fastball from pre-surgery. Cease would be basically a rookie. Kopech would be a rookie coming back from TJS. It's a talented rotation, but it could just as easily be the worst rotation in the league as it could be a top rotation.
  2. Well there is this thing called "Interleague"? If he's hitting well enough, bah. I don't like the signing, I'd hate spending money on another DH, but it's not like we left ourselves a lot of options.
  3. Spending a bunch in the upcoming free agent market is unlikely to be the thing that puts you over the top. JD Martinez might be a difference maker at DH, but that's about it.
  4. There is no gain in "player control" for him until mid-April of 2020.
  5. When he was with the Yankees he had a high Per Start payment, anything like that in the Brewers deal?
  6. Finding the right friend and getting paid $4 million to sit at home for a year? Yeah, I'd call that lucky too.
  7. I'm not sure what my favorite imaginary RH response to the phrase "The team just can't keep losing" is. #1: Angrily: "What do you mean this team just can't keep losing. I'll show you!" #2: "What do you mean losing? This team isn't losing. Do you know how hard we have had to work to finish in 4th place every single year without falling into last? This is a solid success story".
  8. I guess what's the harm. I mean, we're 30th of 30 teams in wins since our current GM took over, you could have done something nonsensical like move Anderson to catcher and you still literally couldn't do worse than that.
  9. This is a good point. Every broken hand injury I can find on Google was 2 months out or less.
  10. So this guy's just making things up and hoping to get something right on Robert? It would be nice if "random multi day magical bruise" was something that made sense.
  11. Even though they took 2/3 from the White Sox, it should not be forgotten that the Orioles are a bad baseball team.
  12. ...which means Herrera and Colome will get used tonight, and it'll turn out that we need them the next 2 nights also and by Friday they won't be available... right?
  13. I'm not sure what the deal is upstairs but I cannot fathom the Santana deal being "omg that's going to get Reinsdorf angry". Maybe Ricky just tells him it's all going according to plan and that's enough, maybe he's more checked out than we realize, maybe he's as greedy as people say and he's just happy with the $70 million in profits last year, whatever it is, he's been ok with them lighting money on fire way more than this. At least Santana has played. Jay hasn't.
  14. Right now John Means's ERA is 1.53. Santana's is 11.17. We have a shot in this game to have starting pitchers who have their ERAs separated by a factor of 10.
  15. Vlad jr. coming up for Friday https://www.mlb.com/news/vladimir-guerrero-jr-to-be-called-up
  16. That would mean that a whole lot of white sox talent imploded.
  17. Frankly, whether the team bumps the salary up to that level or not, they should be the division favorite by then, otherwise a huge amount of talent has flopped. If they do bump the salary up, they're going to be finding junk like what we found this offseason, since the next 2 seasons the FA market looks incredibly bleak after all the extensions this offseason.
  18. Why shouldn't they try an opener for this pitcher. As you noted, they won't, because they are stubborn and the franchise is ok with being that way.
  19. Well earned anti white sox FO sarcasm aside...why not? No obvious way it could do harm, just would require White Sox to get over themselves.
  20. Not an easily available split.
  21. Over that stretch, 39 PAs, only 2 extra base hits, only 2 walks. Equally unreal.
  22. Hard to square the HOF comparisons with him hitting .270 in A-ball.
