  1. It's still the White Sox, I expect them to be as aggressive as they can. A good spring and I think it's probably >50/50 that he'd go to AA.
  2. I think the White Sox made their presentation, sometime in December put an offer on the table that was far below the one he rejected from the Nats, which probably led to it being regarded as almost disrespectful by Boras, and Boras said don't bother until your offer is competitive, leading to the reports in mid-February that the Sox hadn't talked to Boras in "weeks".
  3. Aren't the bulls already effectively being run by the next generation?
  4. Do any of the shareholder agreements specify that only JR can be chairman and that they get a vote or a say on a new chairperson? Because any change in ownership structure would be a great reason for them to depart.
  5. The Mets also have a couple things that are different - a much bigger market, a new stadium, but they also lost a S***ton of money in the Bernie Madoff scandal, like half a billion dollars or so. "The White Sox run their franchise like a team that was just defrauded out of half a billion dollars" is a statement I can endorse.
  6. Trade 2 of those 4 games for visits to minor league parks, South Bend or Gary or Kane County. Drive to St. Louis and catch a couple of weekend games there, stay one night. That's just be a fun baseball trip. You have options.
  7. I'd say 18-24, 12 months ago he had graduated off most lists due to at bats and service time, and his AAA performance in 2017 didn't wow anyone outside the White Sox org.
  8. Aside from the injuries, Fournette hasn't sounded like a model citizen in Jacksonville - maybe a better situation helps, but maybe a bigger city gives him more opportunities for trouble.
  9. If I were the Red Sox and I thought in 2020 that guy would be better than the next Robinson Cano, I'd still have given him up instantly for 3 years of Chris Sale with the roster they already had. Without hesitation.
  10. A few days of watching Moncada at the plate an in the field and the talent is obvious. Whether he harnesses that talent I have no idea - that takes work and coaching to overcome your weaknesses. Too many strikeouts is not a question of talent, the talent is absolutely there, and we've seen guys become really good hitters who had that issue before - it's a question of coaching and development, which means...ugh this franchise matters.
  11. The White Sox got a S***ton of talent back in the Sale and Eaton trades. I'll even give a pass on Kopech's injury as those are things that happen and players come back from that (DeGrom). They need to develop those guys. Lopez should show promise this year, Giolito needs to show promise this year otherwise what are they paying Cooper for, and the org has messed around with Moncada so much already that who knows what he's even doing, but maybe eventually with him talent wins out. IMO, if those guys substantially bust, then it's on the organization's development, coaching, and training staff, and on management's decisions about when to call them up and what position to play them at, because the talent is there.
  12. The dead giveaway is the total dollars. He gave up anything else - opt out, high AAV - in order to top Stanton's total dollar amount. That was their #1, 100% top priority, and they were willing to sacrifice everything else about their contract to meet that goal. He'd have played in Kane County for $330 million.
  13. If you're buying tickets, spending money - they won't care about your sign. Maybe Kenny will. 2019 promotion - one angry fan wins a raffle to have Kenny yell at them during the game over their ingratitude.
  14. Beyond that, minor league stadiums always try to have gimmicks and put on good shows in-between innings, you're closer to the field, and there might be a kids area. It's a fun little time.
  15. The easiest and most effective way to make that message is to not go. If you don't have season tickets already purchased, take a year off. If you typically get a ticket package, politely email your ticket rep and say this will be your last year. Hold to those pledges even if Eloy hits 35 home runs. If you typically go to 2 or 3 games a year, go to your nearest minor league or college stadium and take the family out to a nice dinner first. Take a trip to Cinci or St. Louis and go see a new ballpark. They're counting on your anger dying off over time. As long as you spend enough money, they're ok with you being angry with them. Hell, Kenny's pissed at you for not being fully satisfied with how hard they tried.
  16. Of course there is still hope. But it's hope in spite of the organization, not because of it. There remains a ton of talent in this organization at a number of levels. They are not handled properly. They do not receive quality instruction from the organization, the organization's promotion schedules are aggressive and haphazard, and their behavior regarding service time is inconsistent. However, there are lots of other places where guys can go to receive coaching, and the rewards of finding better coaches can be huge - one talented player fixes things and it could be worth $100 million to them. There will be no help coming from outside the organization. The organization will do things like move players around to different positions that will make it harder for the players to develop. The free agent acquisitions will create logjams that make it harder for players to succeed. But with enough talent, maybe that still wins out in a couple years.
  17. I genuinely liked the rebuilding path and the rebuilding deals because it set us up SO WELL for this free agency period. It was the set of moves we should have made years beforehand. I made one clear mistake: assuming that the fact they competently handled the sell-off trades meant they had some shred of actual competence. Well, another lesson learned this month, they aren't just incompetent, they hate me for expecting better.
  18. If it's not Rick Hahn's fault and this S***show is going around him and they won't let him fix it, then it's long past time for him to resign.
  19. The fact that they keep letting him talk is also insight into how inept they are..
  20. If Kenny Williams is that pissed at me for not being a good enough White Sox fan, fine I will not turn that team on once all year.
  21. I'd rather have bulls*** legalese from Rick Hahn than Kenny Williams telling the fan base how much we suck just because we don't understand how hard it is to finish in 4th place.
  22. They already proved everything they could possibly prove.
