  1. Does Derek Jeter? Magic Johnson?
  2. The FBI will only re-open their background check on the attempted rapist if they are asked to do so by their boss, the multiple time sexual offender in the white house. And literally the last thing they want in this case is for him to testify under oath to the FBI. While he was perjuring himself before Congress, the Republicans control the committees that would investigate that so they can just pretend it didn't happen. If he were to testify to the FBI and unequivocally deny things, then they speak to her and she provides a credible case, then the FBI has a legit suspicion that they were lied to and they are legally bound to investigate further. If there was anything else, any other allegations that came forwards or any additional information on this case that somehow became available, he could wind up in jail. I think the 2nd is currently the most likely option. They set up a situation where she couldn't possibly accept and they'll say that she had her chance to tell her story. The rushed pace is one thing, scheduling the hearing before she accepts is another, but putting them at the same table? That's a clear effort to make sure she does not appear.
  3. https://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/pets.htm The standard visiting areas are on the South Rim and basically anywhere on the rim they are allowed. They are not allowed on the trails that go down into the canyon, and access is limited from the North Rim (the north rim is the side that is harder to get to and fewer people visit).
  4. Grassley is also 85. 35 years ago he was in his 2nd term in the Senate. Other note - think he'll apply that same standard to the victim?
  5. Trailer looks ok, the younger Sam Jackson is really well done, it comes off a little boilerplate to me I didn't get as into it as I have previous trailers by them.
  6. Doesn't having it never come out and having there never be any consequences minimize the crime more?
  7. Depends on whether or not he knew, acknowledged, and reported it. Being paid by a foreign government and covering up that money and lying about it to the government was one small part of the many crimes against America that Manafort confessed to.
  8. You had a combination of the press starting to get wind of the report, in the last week she said she had received calls at her house from the Press and I think she said someone had contacted her work (i could have forgotten that one but there were at least 2 reports of the press getting wind of it), and yes, you had the Republicans racing to get the vote done before the midterm elections so it was either now or never.
  9. Ignoring the documented history where she brought this up to a therapist in 2012 to claim that it is "highly f***ing suspect that she comes out days before the confirmation vote" and ignoring the fact that she also submitted this claim to her local representative when he was nominated 2.5 months ago but still asked for privacy is pretty much the definition of ignoring and attacking the victim. It's also a perfect demonstration of why she would have not wanted this to become public, because she absolutely knew that she was going to be bombarded with people openly suggesting she made it up.
  10. If this were a just world, then after he did it, she would have been able to take her case to the police, have it heard fairly, investigated fairly, and he would have been punished appropriately. Judges...happen to play a large role in why that doesn't happen most of the time. Not the only role, but a big one.
  11. The fear that her attempted rapist would be on the supreme court finally outweighed the fear of being attacked by people like you.
  12. If you don't understand why a woman wouldn't report this until the last moment and then try to maintain anonymity that says more about you than it does about her.
  13. In the past 9 seasons, the White Sox have given up a first round pick and $83 million in contracts (13 million not paid out) to try to fill the DH slot. They have had the brilliant idea to put Mark Kotsay there, they have spent big money, and overall the position has been a disaster there since Jim Thome was let go, and of course, that decision to let Jim Thome go was key to the Twins winning the division too. Preventing the org from having to spend that much money on a DH would be a real benefit.
  14. I have a hypothesis that Blake Bortles is a really good quarterback. When he plays the Patriots. In the first half.
  15. Post-game article in the sun times with some important stuff. More discussion in there of his mistake during the game today and committing to learn English in the offseason also.
  16. His numbers have gradually gotten worse during the year though. He had a .781 OPS on June 1, since then he's put up a .664 OPS, and it's not obviously bad luck over that stretch (.309 BABIP since June 1 is entirely reasonable). He had 11 HR the first 2 months and 8 in the last 3.5 months. He's going the wrong way.
  17. It sure seems like people who don't go along with declaring the economy to be the priority get demonized too. For example, where you use the word "corporatists".
  18. Border patrol agent killed 4, abducted a 5th.
  19. That same extremely conservative medical staff rushed an injured Rodgers back out onto the field last year to try to salvage their playoff hopes didn't they?
  20. Or maybe, just maybe, a more equitable economic distribution does not stop a police officer from breaking into your apartment and shooting you on site and then the police declaring you a criminal for it.
  21. Dude, the executive chair of Breitbart after 2012 took on the role of executive chairman of the 2016 Trump campaign after his previous campaign chair left due to his participation in crimes against the united states. He was then given an official position in the White House comparable to Chief of Staff.
  22. I believe back in 2012 the solution with both Sale and Quintana was they dropped their throwing days in-between starts to near minimum or non-existant, I think they also skipped a start or two with each of them but still kept putting them out there. Unfortunately their arms hit exhaustion during September and their ERAs spiked as the team fell off the pace.
