It’s Game Day in Chicago 6/24 A’s and Sox
Balta1701 replied to elrockinMT's topic in 2018 Season in Review
I totally disagree that it was all coming together. He gets into multi game grooves where he can dominate based on raw stuff, but he can’t do that every game. He Puts up a 1.50 era in August 2016 and we think that, then is back to 4.50 in September. frankly, he reminds me of Edwin Jackson. Dominant two pitch stuff, able to sustain runs of dominance with those two pitches, but not able to build on it consistently to turn out whole seasons at ace level like you think he can from his first 2 pitches. -

Last year August 4 and August 10 he had 7.2 and 8 inning, 0 walk outings. He threw 98 pitches in that 8 inning outing. This isn’t unusual with him, when he has command of his fastball and slider he can mow through people, and he will get into multi game grooves where he has that, but I’m still waiting to see if either he can have that kind of command in almost every outing or if he can find ways to win on days when he doesn’t have that command. -
Why do I think Greg would be much more ok with this if the freedom of expression she had chosen involved kneeling during the National Anthem?

When that game ends, half of the crowd will walk across the Roberto Clemente bridge to downtown, where they'll park. It's really quite a nice setup for the city. If there was a large protest downtown, then that half of the crowd would be walking straight into the protest lines. There's no where for two separate large crowds of people to go.

Honestly Caulfield, DA, there's no winning side on this one. Just trust.

The biggest area of downtown Pittsburgh is the area that 20,000 people walk past on their way out of every Pirates game.

Passan analyzes 2018-19 FA class, Harper vs. Machado

Rodon, Covey, Kopech, Lopez, Hansen, Giolito, Fulmer, Stephens - there are so many arms there already who could make appearances, and i still expect a couple guys from the end of that list to break out eventually. Maybe I could be talked into a 1 year deal guy if Hansen and Rodon continue to have health issues, but not for a big splash. There's better places to spend money. -

The White Sox should not be looking for SPs in the 2019 free agent market, IMO. -
The more detailed versions make it sound a lot more serious than you do here pt, including lists of guys like Matt Harvey who had TJS after a grade 2 sprain.

Thanks for agreeing with me. No one, including you, cares one iota about the deficit until a Demycrat gets in office. You just demonstrated it perfectly. Those bonuses and increased profits came directly from increasing the federal deficit by $500 billion this year alone.

ESPN/Boston said that yesterday Chris threw the hardest pitch he's thrown in a game since he was a rookie coming out of the bullpen.
-
Except when it actually mattered, you could have been calling your congressperson and you didn't care. Here's me pointing this out in the Financial thread, which I said multiple times in November and December when you and the other Republicans didn't care about the deficit exploding to over $1 trillion again. But what waste of time did you actually buy into? You bought into those bonuses as the one thing you felt important enough to share. The fact that corporate profits soared from that same company, not worth noting. So now I assume you'll play your typical game of "I was just sharing something that was interesting I didn't mean that was important" and pretend that we can't actually see which things you choose to share.

Then he needs to be aggressively job hunting. -
Because we didn't have Escobar, the White Sox wound up spending good money on Emilio Bonifacio. That move in 2013 was a decent gamble because for once, the team was legitimately in the race. But having to spend money on backup players is one consequence.

Garcia didn't perform either.

I sincerely wonder if he will actually be the "Starting RF next season". He's making $6.7 million this season and another arbitration year would push him probably past $9 million. If he's not able to get the bat going to at least decent, would you pay $9 million for him next year?

Dat derivative dough... (For reference, the pattern of it getting much larger during red and shrinking during blue...continued this year. But you didn't care when the Tax Cuts were being passed, we even kept asking where the deficit hawks were. No one, including you, cared when the Republicans doubled this year's deficit. )
-
Nobody cares about the debt. People pretend to because it's a slogan. Then you give them the choice of increased debt or tax cuts, and well, the Republicans have done the same choice 3 times in my adult life. They care about the debt when they can use it to berate a Democrat and people like you go along with it because it is an excuse to berate democrats and not Republicans.

The judge in the Brock Turner rape case was recalled last night.

Mike Trout has 5.1 fWAR on the season so far and is on pace for 13.5 fWAR and 14.6 rWAR. This inhuman monster is currently on a pace for the greatest season any baseball player has ever had.

If the Democrats don't have anyone who can beat trump then this country hates colors and wrong genders more than I think they do. If you don't understand why, then you haven't been watching the elections this year - the Democrats aren't just running against Trump, they're letting the Republicans run on their racist Trump bullcrap and countering with "Here's what we'll do for people" and it is working at least ok for now. But then again, I didn't figure on a campaign accepting the support of multiple foreign powers in the process either. I don't disagree that Sherrod Brown is a good thing for the party. I do disagree that Bernie Sanders is, when he will not declare himself to be a Democrat and he has shown little to no interest in building infrastructure that can beat a racist candidate with the support of multiple foreign powers. Even when people endorsed him, he never got behind them, helped them build campaigns, or fundraise. In Iowa tonight, one of his top campaign aids was running in one of the primaries and lost 57-16 or something like that. If your movement is all about you, and not about the things you are going to do for people, how you will make this world a better place when the US is locking brown people in cages on the floor because "we hate brown people" is official policy that everyone who thought emails were bad was ok with, then you are useless to me. That's where Bernie Sanders is to me.

You're comparing a guy who is complaining about the deficit and saying we need to cut spending on entitlements to Bernie Sanders.

Wasn't that with Friedman as their GM? Maybe then the Dodgers could be a candidate?
