  1. Nats are making strong progress on Sale. Been working on it all day. They have clear lead.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) Guys I know it's poor form to talk about a high draft pick that made majors early and performed pretty well but I would totally take Turner over him knowing what we know now. But not sad about Rodon. Fine to have that view. IMO, not fine to think Rodon is a disappointment or a bust like some other posters are implying.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Typical White Sox fan response. He has 5 years of control, and was starting to come into his own last season. But ignore it. He was a horrible draft pick. Schwarbs was so much better. Even though he didn't play in 2016. If you seriously have a problem with the White Sox drafting Carlos Rodon, you will probably be disappointed almost every draft. I doubt any team has actually drafted the guy that turned into the best player on the board when they drafted every pick. Rodon is solid. If he is capable of a $200 million contract you apparently like his talent. Agree. How can you complain about a guy who struck out 165 guys (1 per inning) at his age? Especially when you take into account how he improved later in the year. He had some downright dominant performances.
  4. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) I'll take Turner Robles Giolito Lopez for Sale only. None of those other prospects interest me that much. That's a bad trade for them & unrealistic thinking by us. If I'm wrong, beers of your choice on me.
  5. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) Nats don't have enough to get Sale + Eaton or Sale + McCutcheon Best case is they significantly raise his price for the Red Sox I disagree. I would take Turner/Robles/Giolito/Lopez plus 3-4 more of their top 10 prospects (Fedde, Kieboom, Dunning, Neuse, Stevenson) for both Sale & Eaton.
  6. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago Nats are said to stepping for Sale. Meeting this aft. Red Sox are involved, and others, too. Things are heating up! Hopefully this is real this time
  7. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago Nats are said to stepping for Sale. Meeting this aft. Red Sox are involved, and others, too. Things are heating up! LET'S $#@$^$ GO!!!
  8. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) Early post season report had the White Sox giving up Burdi Or Fullmer for him in a one for one. Huh? What reports saying the Sox are buyers? I don't believe it.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 11:56 PM) I said there is no reason to think it will be higher, not that it couldn't. You're right, the fact is we don't know for sure. What we do know is Sale will definitely have less control and there is a strong possibility of there being more sellers and ultimately other SP alternatives than there are now given how bad this market is. You definitely don't have to move Sale right now, but you're taking a huge gamble that that unforeseen circumstances take place that result in a better package. I think that's a fool's bet, especially when you consider the unnecessary injury risk you're taking on and the opportunity cost of delaying the rebuild another year. I hear you. At some point a line has to be drawn, and it's not an easy decision.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) The problem is there's no reason to think his value will ever be higher than it right now. And by holding him, you take on the risk of injury and squandering your most valuable asset. You obviously don't give him away if the offers are ridiculously low for some strange reason, but you also can't be overly stubborn and refuse to off your initial asking price. I disagree. His value is determined in part by how desperate a team is to deal for an ace. When the A's dealt Russell was Shark's value at an all time high? So we don't know the situation at mid year. Maybe Benintendi, Turner and others cool off and the teams realized the need too quality pitching. We just don't know, but it's incorrect reasoning to think his value could not be higher
  11. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 11:15 PM) I'm actually fine with keeping sale if the offers aren't good enough. We can always put him on the block at the deadline and see what a contender would offer. Yes, I wish more fans thought this way. We all want this rebuild to commence immediately and with a bang, but trading him next season is certainly an option. It's not now or never. It's now or anytime during the next year give or take.
  12. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) Adding those 3 pieces virtually guarantees them a trip to the NLCS. They're in a position to compete, not worry about prospects. I don't think Cutch is an upgrade over Turner looking to next year. So they'd literally sell their top 5 prospects plus Turner and Gio off their roster? I mean, I would take it but I can't see it.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) Fine, I'll bite: Pirates get: Giolito Espinoza Lopez Gio Gonzalez Nationals Get: Sale Robertson Cutch White Sox Get: Turner, Glasnow, Robles, Feede, Bell, Stevenson Washington would be insane to do that.
  14. QUOTE (Username @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) I think they'll ship out some excess pitching to make it happen. Ross in particular, plus Gio/Roark should net a good return in this market. Could be a 3-team deal for Sale even, Hahn loves those. They also might dangle Espinosa, with the same goal. Maybe Ross/Gio, Robles, Giolito ++ and then turn around and deal Ross/Gio for prospects
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) Astros really need starting pitching. If I'm the Astros I say to myself, "We have a window to win and need an ace. We can afford to give up Bregman and make a two year run. If it doesn't work, we can always deal Sale at the end of year 2 & recoup half or more of what we traded away"
  16. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/805114765320265734 Yup Source confirms: Beltran in agreement with the #Astros, one year, $16M, full no-trade clause. First on agreement: @Buster_ESPN.
  17. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) I think we can get a solid package, but I don't really see teams paying up for Eaton like a franchise-changing player. I guess the thing about Eaton to Washington is that they're looking for a CF. Could Eaton do that, or is he better in RF?
  18. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) The #Braves still have interest in Chris Sale and Chris Archer, even after adding Colon, Dickey and Garcia. They prefer Sale over Archer. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/804709193320136704 #Braves are telling teams they're very reluctant to part with Ozzie Albies in any deal. But they're getting lots of hits on 19-year-old IF. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/804709332608761856 File this in the "no s***" category
  19. There's something about this team that's not working, and if it means dealing Eaton as well, then that's fine. The more high upside pieces we can collect the better. We are not playing to win the next few years anyways.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) That's interesting PP34, In Klaws chat today he said PIT should ask for Giolito and Robles in a shoot for the stars land on the moon moment. I mean, if You could get Giolito and Robles for Adam Eaton, prior to a Sale trade, we are talking about a serious infusion of high ceiling talent. Agree. I would do an Eaton for Robles, Giolito and others, but not for just Robles+
  21. Cutch's numbers are way down. Would be surprised if they gave up Robles & Giolito for him.
  22. Presumably most of the pieces coming back for Sale wouldn't be top contributors in '17. Also, if they're trading Sale, they're not going to turn around and be buyers somewhere else IMO (or trade for pieces to help today). So unless everyone else on the roster makes gigantic strides I don't see that happening.
  23. First off, Happy Thanksgiving! Came across this article from an Astros website and they seem to have the right mentality wrt trading Bregman. Apologies if it's been posted already. http://www.astrosfuture.com/2016/10/right-...r-world-series/
  24. I believe that Boston doesn't want to trade its top prospects but I think that's foolish. They're not going to win in the postseason with that rotation. Also, I think Houston makes the most sense. Their moves are clearly with the notion of winning today. They need a front end ace more than anyone.
