WTF? I've NEVER heard of a hotel charging their GUESTS parking. That is insane, and I would never stay at a place that was tacky enough to do that. No 4-star or better hotel -- well, any respectable one at least -- would pull that kind of lowlife tactic.

Yes, it's sad that the AS game has been reduced to a meaningless exhibition. Maybe it's always been meaningless, but the players involved didn't always play like it was meaningless (just ask Ray Fossey - spelling?).

Why aren't you happy for the guy? He's worked so hard to get to this point. A lot of players might have hung em up after the way his career has gone, but he stuck with it and is reaping the benefits now. And 3 IP is no big deal at all. He's gone an average of like 7 innings every 5 days for the past 3 months. What's 3 innings at the AS game going to hurt? By the same logic, do you hope Magglio and Everett don't play? Afterall, they could get hit in the hand with a pitch or break their leg diving for a ball, right?

Well, since it's 4 al and 4 nl, maggs couldn't get an invite Who cares if each league has an equal number of players? What if 8 AL players had 30 HR at this point and the NL leader only had 15? Should we still snub 4 AL and take 4 scrubs from the NL? I think that's ridiculous. It's the HR DERBY -- not the "HR derby with consideration to what league the participants play in". Also, a player shouldn't have to be on the AS team to participate in the derby. If it's a HR derby, that implies that the winner is the best HR hitter in the league. I don't believe that the best HR hitter is always necessarily an all-star.

Isn't it $500,000 for him making the team out of ST, and an additional $500,000 that he can make in incentives? I seem to recall that being part of it, and he'll certainly achieve those incentives if he has even a mediocre 2nd half. Either way, $1M for a pitcher that's done as well as Esteban has is an absolute steal.

Heh, hype? When you have the best 2 players in the NBA and win 3 titles in a row, that's not hype -- that's legit. People are just jealous. The same thing happened when the bulls dominated. So many people hated the bulls, just because they got sick of them winning. Now that I've had time to grow up, I can admit that the only reason I hated the Bulls back in the day was because they were winning. It's the same with the Yankees. The only reason people hate them is because it's not their team that's winning and/or spending millions of dollars trying to win. If the Sox had a payroll of $100M+ every year and was able to get every free agent they want, and had like 25 World Series wins, we'd all love it. Exactly the reason i ALWAYS defend the yankees. Buy championships blah blah blah........theyre playing by the rules. If you want to blame someone, blame the sport for allowing it. Definitely. MLB needs to come up with SOME kind of a salary rule. This luxury tax crap isn't going to work because there are only a handful of teams that are even close to the limit. The NFL has done a good job IMO of evening the playing field for virtually every team. From year to year, you have your favorites in the NFL, but it always seems that 5 or 6 teams come out of nowhere to be legitimate contenders. Baseball hasn't been that way in I don't know how long. The NFL's way may limit the chances of a team creating a real dynasty, but I think that's good overall.
