I think I understand where you’re coming from because of when the Sox lose control of him, but it doesn’t really do much for it me. It really depends on whether he can even get the basics back. Nothing is given. IMO His market value is currently zero. Nobody else would want him until he can prove that he can pitch again

I am really happy but kind of shocked. There were four or five AL players with better OPS than Tim at month end. Maybe it was the total package.

I think it is absolutely crazy that some of you want to find a reason to blame the white sox organization for the rash of TJ injuries. due to scouting? Really? full stop pitching a baseball is one of the most unnatural things you can do to your arm. Every single person who does it is putting a gun to their head and playing Russian roulette. It’s not something you can see coming.

Why on earth would the team performing better be due to Rick Renteria? Why not due to Anderson, Moncada, Abreu, Rodon, etc?

Yes, I watched both. I disagree. I think they gave away game 1 and could have easily won if they had gone for the jugular. They didn't and gave the game away. Conversely, I think they came back and won the nightcap on timely hitting with a more talented group. I feel as though talent wise and in terms of their seasonal prospects, the 2019 White Sox are WAY better than the 2019 Orioles. Remember, the 2003 Detroit Tigers were 8-11 against the 2003 White Sox, but those Tigers won 43 games. The Sox won twice as many - 86. Head to head record doesn't tell the whole story.

After starting 3-8, the Sox are now 10-7 in the last 17 games against mostly garbage competition. I think we've handily proven that we are not in the lowest tier of MLB teams (with KC, Miami, Baltimore). Are we in the second lowest tier, or more like a middle tier team? The next stretch of 24 games, against better teams and contenders (Toronto, Minnesota, Cleveland, Houston, Boston) - will tell the story. How do you think we will fare? My optimistic guess is we will finish that stretch 10-14 and land with a 23-29 record 1/4 of the way through the season. I could see something like 8-16 or 9-15 though. I sincerely doubt we can get much closer to .500 over that stretch.

It’s all good. I was a little defensive. To your larger point Jack, I’m much more concerned about TA than Moncada, because he still hasn’t learned how to take walks. Moncada truly looks like he has turned the corner because he has cut that K rate down dramatically and his advanced stats bear out significantly better results from a change in how aggressive his approach is. TA needs to learn how to be a little less aggressive. I could see him losing 100 points off his batting average in the next three weeks

Jack, Frank Thomas was a 1.05-1.1 OPS player from 1991-1997. He was a .900+ OPS player for the rest of his career. vs the Cubs he was way worse than his career splits the point you are straining yourself to miss is that small sample sizes vs one team mean nothing

In 2004 Frank Thomas had a .997 OPS. In 2003 he had a .952. They weren’t his best years, but they were way way way way better than most players in the league.

So 2000 wasn’t Frank’s prime? Ok.

Frank Thomas was a career .248 hitter vs the Cubs in 131 plate appearances.

The orioles have a bad major league lineup. The white sox have a good AAA bullpen

Anderson probably won't have enough to win AL player of the month. There's 4-5 AL hitters ahead of him in terms of WAR and OPS.

Let's say Abreu is 2 years older than listed (although there's nothing to prove that). When Konerko hit FA as a 34 year old slow first baseman, did you want to renew him? as it because he had a breakout year in 2010 where he had one of the highest WARs of his career? Did you even think he could possibly replicate that? Was it simply because "world series"/intangible things? Did you want him to retire a White Sox, having played almost all of his games here? The sentiment with Abreu seems to be much that he's more disposable. Either flip him for value or don't re-sign him. The sentiment seems to be that he MUST be declining, even though we all know he was dinged up last year. Konerko was a career 27.7 WAR player over 18 seasons. Abreu is a 19.4 over 5+ seasons. If he has a .850 OPS / 3.0 WAR year, should we keep him? Btw I'm one of the ones who generally thinks we should NOT keep him but I'm wondering why I felt differently about Konerko in 2010.
