Leury García player value question
The first 350 PAs of his career are pretty bad offensively, but over the last 800 PAs he’s been a .280/.320/.395/.715 player

And that's a 4th White Sox winner in a ROW!
Here’s a weird one. Yolmer batting .302 over like the last 15 games

Leury García player value question
This seems like a silly question, but I don’t understand his stats and player value. He feels like a good player, because of his .293 BA and .328 OBP, but also carries a sub .700 OPS. He seems like an average defender. His current WAR is 1.6 which would seem to translate out to a 3-4 WAR player over a season. Is his WAR inflated despite his low OPS because most center fielders are light hitting in terms of OPS?

5/29 Sox vs Royals
How many times has it appeared that Yonder has crushed the ball only for it to be a 370 foot out? i still maintain there is something detrimental to the way that ballpark faces and left handed power hitters that pull

That was a hell of a play by Yonder.

One of the hidden things I’m glad we clarified this season: Rondon is not a major leaguer

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from having to suffer through many “one thing with Ricky” segments, it’s hat this man has absolutely zero personality

Embrace The Tank!!!
Most of us really have no idea what the Sox prospects are beyond this year. Saying things like “they won’t be good next year” or “they won’t be good for 3-4 years” - just stop. I get that you are venting. It’s too early to know. We are all somewhat frustrated. Most of our main future studs are on track or close (Moncada, Anderson, Eloy’s power game looks legit, Giolito rounding into form, Lopez can still be good) and most of the hot garbage will be gone soon, after this year (Yolmer, Yonder, Welington, Nova, many of the bad relievers). We all knew this was a 70-75 win and they are on pace for that. Things will feel a lot better once we start getting more of our future guys up here

5/26- Sox at Twins, 1:10, NBCSC
Perhaps Zavala can set the major league record for most consecutive strikeouts to start a career

ABREU'S FUTURE WITH SOX
I keep him this year, as I don’t think the return would be nearly enough. I initially thought we should not re-sign him but if he’s open to a 2 year 25-30 million contract I would absolutely do that.

Here’s Freddy Garcia’s 2005 game log. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=garcifr03&t=p&year=2005 By all metrics, Garcia had a great 2005 season - 14-8 record, 3.87 ERA, 4.06 FIP, 1.25 WHIP, 20 quality starts out of 33. You’ll notice that in 7 of his starts, he got absolutely rocked - 5 ER or more. In a five of his of other starts he gave up 4 ER in 6 to 7 innings- pretty mediocre to bad numbers. i suppose my point is that 7 times out of 33, in one of his “good years,” a year in fact that led us to a world title, solidly #2-3 starter, reliable Freddy Garcia went out and got himself rocked. 21% of the time. In another 5 starts, he was meh to bad. That brings the total of bad starts to 36%. Sometimes he was shelled by good teams and sometimes by bad teams. this is kind of why I am more encouraged by Lopez’ 6 good to great starts than discouraged by his 5 bad ones. Yes, I know 6/11 is a lot worse than 70% but the growth is still happening.

I just don’t know if I would completely change my opinion on López based on his inability to get shut down two of the AL’s best teams / offenses. He has otherwise looked really good - Boston and Minnesota. Minnesota is a buzzsaw right now. Outside of those two starts he has been very good

Sox @ Twins 5/24 Gamethread
It was a bad game. Dont know if y’all have realized but we are still 1-0-4 in our last five series. We haven’t lost a series since the Boston one. Saw a lot of kneejerk reactions to this bad game. Here are some bright spots - 1) Moncada still good, despite the boneheaded bunt, and his defense is getting better and better. 2) Tilson really appears to be a decent - not great yet - baseball player. .725 OPS outfielder with above average defense and some wheels. I like him. 3) Anderson is still finding weird places to let balls drop in and still hitting great. 4) Abreu is still really consistent. I don’t know, this team to me feels way better than last year and just a couple of players away from contending for this division. Even with tonight’s loss they are 20-19 in their last 39.

Impressive flyout for Castillo pretty soon he’ll be lining out like a real major league player

Castillo kills two innings in a row. Silver lining - if he makes the last out in the third inning I’ll be really happy?

OMG can Yonder learn from that?

Batting Castillo 4th behind Abreu is one of the most bewilderingly garbage managing decisions in a season of garbage managing decisions
