QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) No reason we can't match that By your logic, there's no reason the Sox can't match an offer of 10 years and $300,000,000. They could match just about anything, but it doesn't make sense to do so depending on the money and years.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) I hope the only salary dump is Quentin and everything else happens only if they get overwhelmed. If they play the "Jerry to the Rescue" card again with Buehrle, I'll puke. I hate that too. Let the GM do his job.

World's Largest Insect
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) OK, smartypants, how about the Flores giant rat from Indonesia or Haast's eagle from New Zealand (extinct since the 15th century) or the elephant bird of Madagascar (extinct about 1,000 years ago)?? I've heard of the eagle, I'll have to look up the others when I get home.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) Star Wars Episode 1. Unless you consider Rob Roy an action movie, but it is more of a historical piece. He does have a few movies before episode 1 that kind of straddle the line I think Taken made it believable and he knows there's money in it, so he's sticking with it. He just doesn't fit the usual bill.

Syracuse Horror Story
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) For once, I kinda understand Boeheim here...if someone made that kind of allegation against a guy you've worked with and been friends with for decades, you're going to have a rapid, emotional response, and then if the case starts building there's going to be an "oh sh*t" moment every few days. Agreed. It's not like Paterno (that we know of just yet) where he has heard allegations in the past.

Sox rolling dice in Rule 5
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) Jordan Danks has never flashed enough power to even remotely offset his Dunn-like propensity to K. He's horses*** (as a player), never been much of a prospect and wouldn't have garnered anywhere near the attention he did for a while there if he hadn't been related to John. This. And I wouldn't be surprised if he goes unclaimed, or he's claimed by a team only hoping to sign John Danks after next season.

Looks pretty decent, but it kind of goes against the fact that was discussed here a while back that wolves really don't kill humans. So, I have to imagine that wolves hunting an entire group of people is kind of out there. Either way I have to ask again, when exactly did Liam Neeson become an action star.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) Villains in film are defined differently than how Webster's defines it. To be a villain, Tommy would have to be cast against our main character with whom we are sympathetic. Tommy is the antithesis of villain in 'Goodfellas'. Who's sympathetic to Henry Hill? I root against him each time.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) This is something that has always bothered me. In the first Friday the 13th movie, his mother wants revenge for the camp counselors allowing her son to drown in the lake. Yet in the sequel it was revealed that he didn't die. What happened to him that his mother thought he was dead and how the hell did he survive all those years in between? Those movies are pure garbage. Why read into them at all?

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) I guess I just don't know any of those people. I don't think the show has dipped much in popularity (perhaps this season), so people were still tuning in in hordes.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) They should have been aggressive and moved Rios in 2010, but didn't do so because they were "Borderline" in the race, and then a miracle occurred. "Borderline in the race" has been enough reason to fail to do what was necessary for this team 2 years in a row. Probably longer than that.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) lol I'm pretty sure everyone feels this same way. There are tons of people who find the character to be hilarious. This is the same overwhelming majority that could care less about plots and character development, and just want to see s*** get blown up, etc. Nobody cares that the semi-realism of The Office (which was the basis of the show) was left by the wayside, but they f***ing love him driving his car into a lake or having a hot dog eating contest to decide who runs the place.

Magneto was the final villain cut from my list. That was mostly due to the fact that I sort of agreed with his stance, and definitely rooted for him in First Class.

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) I never really found Carell all that funny. I was generally pretty lukewarm about the Office from the start, and it just went downhill as it lasted longer and longer. Don't get me wrong, it has some funny moments, but when I look back at my favorite parts of the show, very few of them ever involved Steve Carell. Also, Party Down was cancelled awhile ago after two seasons. Strongly recommend watching it if you like shows that are genuinely funny, both seasons are on Netflix Instant. RIP Perhaps later, as I have a lengthy queue already. And no doubt that the majority of the comedy came from other characters. The smaller roles would often make me laugh the most, but Michael eventually started taking that away as well. He was a necessary and helpful piece for the first few seasons.
