  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal #Twins' Thome went on trade waivers today. #Phillies want him, but almost no chance he gets through to them. #MLB That would be awesome, and I hope that happens somehow.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) And another thing, is the actress that plays Jessica on True Blood too strict to show the goods. Been waiting 3 years and the way the scene with Jason was going I thought this was the week. She is the sexiest girl on the show IMO, and it is irritating me. Seriously? I could get it if you were 12 and this was still 1993 when internet and porn weren't so readily available, but you seem to watch so many shows just because one of the actresses is hot. I just don't get it.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) I think his last believable dramatic role may have been in "Men of Honor". That was f***in' 11 years ago. That's probably the last one I'd be able to think of too.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Isn't De Niro, Pesci, and Scorese getting back together to do a movie based on on of Hoffa's hitmen? I read the book, "I Heard You Paint Houses". It was ok but with those 3 together, the movie would probably be great. Scorsese is pretty much in the same boat as De Niro and Pacino.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) Limitless was entertaining, I liked the way it ended. Although DeNiro is just not the same actor anymore, it's been that way for a while. It's sad how badly he's fallen off. I can't recall off the top of my head the last time he was in a serious role that was any good. He's basically become a caricature of himself. The same thing has happened to Pacino, but I guess he had sort of a return with You Don't Know Jack. I haven't seen it, so I can't comment. Perhaps they both should have gone the Pesci route and retired early.
  6. QUOTE (onedude @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) watching the deadwood series now.....WOW, really great series...very entertaining....too bad it lasted 3 seasons though. Almost done with the First season. I loved that series, but it would've been better if they ended it after the second season. Not that the third season was bad, but it was unexpectedly cancelled after it and (as you'll see) it didn't wrap itself up at all. At least after the second season, things seemed to be nicely settled and a cancellation wouldn't have been so hard to take. There was talk of an HBO movie to wrap it all up, but that has been given up on. Ian McShane basically said it's not going to happen, although the crew wanted to do it.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) Wow, really? I had no idea. Damn, that would have killed the movie. Yeah. I haven't read the book in a long time, but I recall that it was something like going full circle. Hobbs struck out the best player in the game when he was really young (The Whammer), and the same thing happened to him later. I believe the pitcher that struck him out was even called Youngblood or Youngberry or something like that. Like NSS said, it worked better in the book than it would've in a movie. Kenny "The Genius" Williams (I hope the filter's still on ) can't have that. And Robert Redford has probably the worst swing ever.
  8. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) Like I said, I still enjoyed the episode a lot. I am just waiting for s*** to blow up. We all know it's coming, but we don't know when.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 08:38 AM) Definitely have to see that, that's a date night with the wife movie. That would be intensely boring. Why not just watch some highlight reels for 2 hours from real baseball? The movie is empty if he doesn't get shot. Plus they completely changed the ending from the book. He's supposed to strikeout at the very end.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) This probably also means the Sox would have to come in at $14-15 million per season to extend Danksy. I fail to see how this is bad news for the Sox. We already knew that we weren't re-signing Danks, and now it takes another potential starter off of the market. This gives the Sox more leverage in trading Danks, doesn't it?
  11. Ugh, another episode of Breaking Bad and little happened. It was still interesting as hell, but I'm just waiting anxiously for something to blow up.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) I thought that encouraged inebriation was to insulate them from pondering their teetering sports program and the loss of Chizik to Auburn? Actually, ISU will probably be better than UI in basketball at least. But a lot of rumblings that ISU will be left out in the cold with the looming BIG 12 realignment or disappearance. Haha, I love you, caulfield. I can always expect a ridiculous tangent in every one of your posts.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) "Mom, you made 12 tacos. Can we have one?" NOOOOOO! Mom must eat & eat!!!! Reminds me of a Family Guy episode where they spoofed John Goodman stuffing himself at home and not giving his family any food Aw, before I even got to your second sentence, that was what I was going to say!
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Seems to me that I'd call up the minor leaguer with the best chance of helping in the playoffs since he'll be playoff eligible if he stays on the roster through the end of August. Josh Kinney is definitely not that guy. My guess is he won't be on the roster come August 31st. Hopefully Viciedo can get healthy soon, because this would be a great way to make him playoff eligible and allow us a little more roster flexibility come playoff time. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here.
  15. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) I could see blaming that on Guillen if it were a bunch of kids but these are veterans. Then again I'm starting to think Ozzie is a boisterous version of Dusty Baker. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) Maybe if this s*** didn't happen every year. Kenny gives Ozzie the most talented team in the division every single season and Ozzie does f*** all with it. Not to say I really want KW back but this is more on Guillen and I'm sick of this underachieving bulls***. Wingo, man.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) That's what I was thinking, just wondering if there was other stuff to it. Don't forget that Buster Olney said last week I believe that Cubs didn't want to break the bank for any one player. It seems, then, that they have learned from their past mistakes and are going about the correct way of changing things. I hope we follow suit.
  17. There are still plenty of good ones today, George Strait and Alan Jackson leading the pack.
  18. QUOTE (onedude @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) it's a sequel....legally can't be remade Legally? Ridley Scott directed the original. Couldn't he remake it if he wanted?
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) How many Guillen defenders are there? I have no problem with him being let go. I'd have a problem if it stopped with him (and his coaches). There are still a few on this board, and it's about the same percentage of people I know in real life.
  20. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) It didn't do too much to cover up the mooning smiley.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) cst_Cowley cst_Cowley Way to fight for that division lead Sox!! All heart! Way to fire that team up Hollywood Guillen! With the lack of passion that this team shows on a regular basis, I can't believe anyone still defends and wants to keep Ozzie.
  22. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) I understand that this was a joke, but seriously what is Dunn's longest hit streak this season?
  23. Just so you guys know, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, that guy from Australia, Sugarland, etc. are completely watered down Country. Those first three USED to be awesome, but they all went more pop. There's a lot of chick country out there now.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) Ridley Scott continuing to revisit his past http://screenrant.com/ridley-scott-blade-r...l-sandy-128493/ Not that I mind, of course I did not understand the hype of Blade Runner. Perhaps it was cool looking in its time, but I watched it and it was just plain boring.
