  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 08:24 AM) I agree with this for sure. Even the #10 movie on the list is still a really damned good movie. The only one I wouldn't watch if it were on TV is The Incredibles, and that's for the lack (IMO) of comedy.
  2. I've been reading this thread with a lot of interest/concern. It's weird how I can care how this turns out for a person I've never actually met. I hope everything goes well for you guys, wite.
  3. Ever since that commercial for Miami Ink, I can't stop listening to New York Groove by Ace Frehley. It's funny how a commercial can introduce me to a song that's existed forever. The same thing happened with I've Got A Rock 'N' Roll Heart by Eric Clapton (a phone commercial, I believe) and Ooh La La by Faces (Men Of A Certain age promo).
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) A bugs life getting no love. For shame Yeah, I loved A Bug's Life. My favorite is probably Monsters, Inc. I'm not going to make a complete list, as I really enjoyed almost all of them and it's hard to even rank them.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) You must be sloshing around in your milk(man). I am getting a bit tired of your comments about what me or other posters think or know about baseball. You have no idea what other teams want or don't want. So I guess getting these types of responses from you are a compliment. That post was completely devoid of logic, no way around it.
  6. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) Soxtalk Ranger and Score Ranger have a lot of similarities. I am not going to go so far as leveling a personal attack. However, he does have a tendency to very politely and eloquently let you know you are an ignorant dumbass. He won't come right out and call you a drillrod like Dave Wills would, but the participant in the discussion will feel no better at the end of it. This site is no better or worse off with/without Ranger's celebrity "inside" opinion. So, please let's not get alarmed at the prospect of him going away. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) I can just as easily turn that "fans only see what they want to see" bulls*** right back at you, in fact your probably the worst of them all. Oh, no doubt. And by a wide margin.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:49 PM) Kenny by a pretty wide margin. Although frankly, I'm getting tired of him too. This. But Ozzie out at any cost. Oswaldo delenda est!
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) I don't get the feeling that there's much love between ozzie and gordon Young white guy who likes to go out and have a good time. We've seen this before.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:13 AM) I keep telling people he is not what he is portrayed to the media/general public. Though you could say that about any player, but with Pujols it's a complete 180. Well, recently he's been coming off badly. Do you mean it's the opposite of that? Or is it the opposite of what he has been portrayed as until recently?
  10. I thought the Incredibles may have been the worst (although Cars would be my other choice). I say that because I didn't find it funny at all, and I usually find Pixar movies pretty funny.
  11. I'm upset about Sports Show being cancelled. I thought it was hilarious.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) I hesitated to respond to this post, but what the heck. My response is you don't trade Paul Konerko. If we think of trading people think of what other teams might need to help themselves compete the rest of this season: A thirdbaseman maybe = Mark Teahan who is fielding well but not playing eough to get back on track with the glove An outfielder maybe = Juan Pierre, who seems to be slumping and taking the wrath of Sox fans and is holding up Dayan Viciedo. A DH/IB/OF with a big contract like Adam Dunn, who just hasn't peformed at all. But Dunn has so much upside and later this season adn for sure in 2012 could be the big boper again. All we could hope for is some team takig hius salary and thinking he will benefit from a change of scenery Pitching: A starter maybe? Edwin Jackson possibly A relief pitcher? Maybe Tony Pena or Matt Thornton? Not advocating any trade here, but you don't trade away your best player and give up when you are just 5 1/2 back It's astonishing how little you seem to know about both baseball and worth in general. Nobody WANTS those players. That's why you can't easily trade them if you decide you're out of it, but Konerko is a completely different case.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) Pirates 4. Ugh. I mean, the first one was great (witty, entertaining, new, about pirates), and now the whole franchise is just being thrown into a garbage disposal and whatever spits out they call it a movie. Surprisingly Ian McShane wasn't bad (I was expecting Al Swearengin on a boat), Penelope Cruz was gorgeous (as usual) and the mermaids were pretty cool. But the writing. Ugh. So many one-liners that just fell flat. The only saving grace was that my wife and I had gone on our honeymoon on Kauai about 2 weeks after they had wrapped up some filming there and we got to see a lot of the remote areas where they shot. Other than that. Meh.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Now you get the difference between running a team and a commercial campaign. He's also repeatedly hinted that if things didn't go well this team wouldn't last until the end of the season either. That doesn't sound very "All-in" does it? That tag line is Brooks Boyer's thing to sell tickets. Yes, it's still all-in. It's just having the ability to realize it's time to walk away from the table when you still have $1.50 for the bus ride home rather than having to walk. You still realize it's over. You're just not going to ride it out until the very end before admitting it.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) It's just this crusty old baseball logic of "well, it's the third inning...." So? Think, if other teams pitched around Konerko, Quentin and Alexi every game, whatever the situation, even if bases were loaded and walking those three brought in three runs. I'm confident we'd lose 3/4 of our remaining schedule. Strategy shouldn't just be left untouched until the 7th inning. If you know only two f***ing players can beat you, why go after them? For the purity of the game? LOL. And it's going to be difficult for Castro to steal any bases when there's someone in front of him. Tonight, I'm not confident of our chances because Konerko (albeit in limited ABs) seems to have a good grasp on Garza. He'll pitch around him, I'm fairly confident of that. And that's all I need to know to feel bad about our chances. "It's only April" "It's only May" "One player wouldn't change that much" "It's just one game" "It's just one game (again)" "It's just one game (again x2)" "It's just one game (again x3)" Those are all in the same vein.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Right, because everyone is obsessed with the marketing when the team is in first place. Mostly this is just another excuse to b**** about something inane. Do you not remember the obsession with the grinder rules in 2005? It was pretty big.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) When did Jerry's commerical run? So even though he said a few times that it was of the utmost importance that the team come out of the gate hot, it doesn't count because it didn't involve AJ hitting a ball out of a cannon?
  18. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) seemed to me he was dogging it on that popout and could have easily doubled up the runner on 1st last nite I didn't even notice that. I was thinking of a groundout that happened yesterday (or maybe it was the day before, honestly a lot of this season is compacted together in my mind).
  19. By the way, I never want to hear anyone say that Rios is giving it his all. That guy never runs out grounders. It's like watching Konerko run one out, but at least PK has the legitimate excuse of being just about the slowest player in the majors.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Honestly the obsession with "All in" is scary. It is an advertising campaign for gods sake. Does everyone expect to see the Miller Lite Guards if you pick up a case of bud light with your strawberry body wash too? Let it go people. This is the same double-standard you and a few others have for winning in general. When the Sox win (think when they won the World Series), it was a life-changing experience and the greatest thing to happen to the city since the Bears in 1985. But when they lose, it's "you're all overreacting" and "it's just a game." I can imagine if the Sox were in first by a nice margin right now, we'd be hearing how the team and management have really come through on their "promise" to go all-in. But since they're losing, it's just a marketing scheme.
  21. Oh great, we get to start using the Boras excuse again!
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) Then he should resign, if only for his own dignity. His ego is probably too big to allow Ozzie to outlast him.
  23. Why allow Pierre to possibly make the final out? The fact is that our management is bad.
  24. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) Then you fire the manager and move on. For the billionth time, it's also fairly obvious that Williams DOES NOT have the power to fire Ozzie.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) If Ozzie thinks this is a potential issue...then he should stop playing Juan Pierre! I think Ozzie truly believes that Pierre (or anyone in that mold) is vital. It's sad. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Agreed with this entire statement. Ideally if we miss the playoffs both should be gone, but retaining Ozzie and firing Kenny would be absoutely atrocious. Think how many Juan Pierre's and Mark Kotsay's we'd have running around. If you think Ozzie's ego is bad now, I can't imagine how much worse it'd be in that scenario. He'd run this organization from top to bottom.
