QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 3, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) Just another reason to love Buehrle. He virtually always gives us a chance. Eh, Buehrle definitely has his share of games where he gives the team almost no chance at all. But he acted as a stopper yesterday, and that's what's important right now.

Oz gives MB champagne and HOF vote on 150 wins
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's obviously a nice gesture and even a bit of sarcasm on Guillen's part. A few years ago, I wouldn't have dismissed the idea of Mark Buehrle eventually becoming a Hall of Famer. He probably would have a legitimate shot if he were on a team like the Yankees that constantly wins 90 games and scores a ton of runs (I don't mean that as a shot at the team either). At this point, though, he's not going to make it and it's fairly easy to say that. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 3, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) Says it's private, unfortunately. I somehow doubt it's a legitimate reenactment of the fight, perhaps a hoax or even a joke on Steve's part, but I would really love to see it if it's real.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 3, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) This is must-watch stuff. Steve, what exactly is that? Is it a real reenactment of the fight? It's telling me that it's private or something.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) It is laughable to think that Bin Laden was there for years, right under the noses of the Pak military and they did not know it. Think about it in this sense. Say one or two high ranking officials, a couple of generals, were well aware of it. In any military (correct me if I'm wrong, lostfan or any of the other veterans), aren't any subordinates going to just follow the order to ignore that location? I'm sure there would be plenty of people who had their doubts and reservations, but isn't it also highly frowned upon to go over someone's head in the military?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) Read this without laughing... http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/pak...mybF_story.html I don't think it's quite as hilarious as you. I think the main point that is incorrect is that all of Pakistan's officials are working together, as in some high ranking officials in the military could have possibly kept bin Laden's location under wraps while the president and other officials were indeed working with the best of intentions to find him.

AL Central not going according to plan
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As I've been saying and he seems to agree with, the Tigers are probably the team that will come out of this well. Would anyone else find it strangely unsurprising if Adam Dunn, whose consistency over the years has become legendary around these parts, finally has an aberration season in his very first year with the Sox? I wouldn't have expected it, but I can now see it happening and thinking, "Yep, that's about right." -
We need to pack the The Cell Tuesday & Wednesday

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:27 AM) They had 18k on a half price night last night. The total attendence for these two games might be 35k It didn't even look anywhere near 18k. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 3, 2011 -> 02:31 AM) There is just the one fast black guy that played WR at UCLA that also played for the White Sox, and that would be the one and only Jerry Owens. He transferred to The Masters College to focus on baseball, as I recall. Yes, but I couldn't tell if there were two consecutive descriptions or just one long one.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 3, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) This whole organization is full of losers, chokers, and softies, and being that AJ is not one of them, it certainly makes sense that he'd have some enemies right now. There is zero reason for a team with this much talent to pack in it, night after night, series after series. This is the same s*** they did this time last year, only Kenny and Ozzie could be blamed for it that time. Now, there's no one to blame but the sorry ass players themselves. It's not September yet, boys, and these aren't the Twins. You don't have to tuck tail yet! Maybe Kenny needs to send off everyone who has a problem with AJ and fire Ozzie's ass too. Change the culture and just start this whole damn thing over. Please, Mark Buehrle, go somewhere else and win. You too AJ, and same with Paulie. John Danks - what a great call on not signing that extension! Money aside, why would anyone with your abilities want to play here? Go make some cash and win some games elsewhere. This team is 100% capable of not only righting this ship but trouncing those pretenders atop the division, winning the division, making the playoffs, and winning a WS. The talent is definitely there. But this AJ hating s*** is exactly why they'll do nothing but founder once again when the going really gets tough. This is a rant, but I mean Jesus, it's like half the noteworthy and conversation inducing team related events occur over Twitter posts by a Guillen family member. That's what we get as Sox fans instead of a baseball season, Guillen family Twitter drama. And choking. And now hating on AJ?! Really?! If you're a player and AJ's behavior is pissing you off then how about you take out yout tampon and let your balls drop and take it out on the field of play instead of confiding in some dbag Score host. Ugh. I'm done now. Milkman delivers likes this post.

QUOTE (Andrew @ May 2, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Yeah, I get that.... I love true emotion/passion for the Sox too. But there's nothing average about the payroll (above) and nothing average about the results (below) so you have to call a spade a spade. That article could've been dated any date from 2001-2004 or 2007-till now and you wouldn't know the difference. Just sub in Getz, Mackowiak, Anderson, the fast black-guy with the goatee who couldn't get on base and I can't even remember his name....WR from UCLA, Fields, Sweeney, etc.... same article, different people called out Jerry Owens? Were you describing two guys there or just one?

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 2, 2011 -> 11:58 PM) There are more than 5 months left in this season. Check yourself. I can't even fathom how stupid this train of thought is, especially after last season.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 2, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Five minutes in it already is. The first five minutes of Colbert was some of the funniest television I can recall.

I'm about to watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. They should be epic tonight.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Ive never said it wasnt fine. I just dont think it was the most prudent choice. Well, yeah. The most prudent thing would have just been to act like it meant little to any American, but that was never going to happen. It was, in many people's opinions, a monumental achievement. We disagree in that I don't think the damage it can cause is as great as you believe.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Chris Sale really needs to get sent down. Just another White Sox prospect who was depended on to produce immediately and couldn't do it. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) First, hes the face of Islamic terrorism because we make him be. Now that he is dead, there will be another face of Islamic terrorism. Killing Osama isnt going to stop the fact that there are people out there that want to kill us. The celebrating may not make a difference, I just think that it doesnt matter, so why take the risk. I guess I know that it makes me morally uneasy, so if Im morally uneasy and I cant see any definitive reason to do it, I tend to not do it. Second, its up to us to create the narrative. I dont like what he did, I dont like that a single American was killed, but in a historical context, Osama is not this super villain that deserves to be in the same breathe as Hitler, Pol Pot or any one else who killed millions. There are plenty of countries where leaders kill hundreds of thousands. The only difference is that Osama killed thousands of Americans. I get it, when 9/11 happened I wanted my pound of flesh, but 10 years later, after watching the fall out of wanting that flesh, I ask myself, in the end was it all worth it. When I dissassociate myself from the emotion, the answers are far more clear, I am glad he is dead, but he is nothing to put on a pedestal. Your argument makes sense and I don't blame you for feeling the way you do, but I still think it was just fine for anybody on Earth to go out and celebrate yesterday's events.

QUOTE (Andrew @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) I saw 2 hits come tumbling in after Konerko's HR. Guess how many I saw after each of Ozzie 2 out steal attempts? Anyway - I'm not saying I want to see guys swing for the fences. But, stop taking the bat out of the hands of other guys who can hit. f***ing aggravating.... and THAT is what is not working. Where did you come from? You've been around since 2008 but never posted, and suddenly you're all over and I like it. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) You mean like leaving Ohman in to face more than just lefties. He needs to pick his spots better and I don't always agree with it bit someone will complain no matter what he does. You have to judge it by the individual player. So I assume you're trying to refute my point by mentioning that he hasn't played that game with Ohman. As I recall, Ohman is one of those guys whose numbers against lefties are great, but they're terrible against righties over his career. With a guy like him, you do go strictly by the old-fashioned book. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) seriously wtf was that? I got a kick out of the guy on the stilts that was jumping around.

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) That's different most people complain he doesn't follow the book enough. I do agree with you on this one though. That's not true. If he plays by any book, it's the very outdated one. It's the book that says a lefty always hits better against a righty and that you always want your lefty pitching to left-handed hitters. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) Wow. I just...I dunno how to respond to this. It just makes you want to not even bother, right?
