Milledge DFA
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) Johnny Damon's ball yesterday was the same that Lastings misplayed as well as the same type of play Fuld messed up yesterday. IF it was misplayed itis a 3-2 and the pen is coming in. There is nothing Milledge could do better than Lillibridge. I thought Milledge could play the outfield he can not. Therefore he has no role on any team. Sir, if you honestly believe that Milledge can't hit better than Lillibridge (especially for power, and especially against LHP), then I'd get suspended for calling you what I think of your opinion.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) And Mark Kotsay was just one guy on the roster last year. We heard that constantly. He's just one player. How much can Mark Kotsay really hurt this team? Turns out, a lot. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) Indeed. I expected him to provide a pretty solid bat off the bench. Whereas with Lillibridge I don't. And now we have zero RH power off of the bench, as Ozzie won't take his back-up catcher out of the equation by pinch-hitting him.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 06:22 AM) What good is having talent if you can't transfer it to the field. I really don't get the what the big to do is about keeping either Milledge or Lillibridge. If the Sox season hinges on either of those 2 , then it's going to be a long year anyway. Oh God, I hate this argument. When you're in tight races every year, and you usually lose the division by just a few games, every single personnel move is important. It's the same as when people say "it's just one game in April." They all matter.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 06:01 AM) How glad are you Sox didn't get him instead of Paulie, like what seems a majority of folks here wanted.. See, this is one thing I can't stand about Soxtalk. The people who wanted Lee instead of Konerko were a minority. In fact, it was a very small minority, but it still doesn't stop people from acting like it was everyone on the site.

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) Well I just got back from Your Highness and it was funny, it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be but I did laugh a lot during it.. I don't see why someone else wouldn't think that its funny based on the comedy that's going on it it.. Arthur on the other hand, looks terrible.. but then again, I don't care for Russel Brand I don't know anybody who does.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) It probably is after today.... Haha, good point. I just thought it was in the lower 3's.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) You said the trade was an obvious loss from a White Sox perspective. How else can one read that? And how on earth could you possibly know this at this point in time? Do you realize how huge it is to have Jackson in the rotation right now as opposed to Hudson? Do you realize how vulnerable we would be at this particular stage without Peavy and with an unproven starter in our rotation? What if Hudson falters early this year, as young pitchers often do after experiencing some success? And how is it that Hudson's small taste of success with Arizona last year is somehow something that can be relied upon, whereas Jackson, who has posted an ERA around 3.5 in a White Sox uniform still needs to show us more? I can accept that some people would rather have saved the money and had the 5 extra years of service time out of Hudson. But no one can say right now that either team has won or lost the trade, because the results on the field are not yet complete. What if Jackson anchors our rotation and leads us to a division title? An ALCS win? A World Series win? How the hell do you quantify the final result of the trade before the results have even played out yet? I actually thought Jackson's ERA has been lower with the Sox.

Nishioka with a broken leg
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) With our luck, and the way things usually happen for the Twins, they'll dig out some guy with a .687 OPS in AA and he'll post a .800 OPS as this guy's replacement, while playing gold glove caliber defense. Oh, obviously.

Nishioka with a broken leg
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) slides into 2nd strike the twins again. That's a shame, I was actually looking forward to watching this guy play. Hope he heals soon. I hope he heals entirely, but I hope it takes forever.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
LOL at J4L rooting against Jackson.

Nishioka with a broken leg
This is actually a plus to the whole "it's our year" thing. Sucks for him, though.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) I agree with this and I'm sure Milkman does as well. I was happy to bring AJ back because he's still a legit catcher who can handle a pitching staff quite well but there's no doubt in my mind that he's going to be the major weak link in the offense this season. Yes, sir. Just give Castro a few more starts.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) I wish I could have seen Jackson pitch. Sounds like he was in rare form. Or, maybe that's going to his form for the season? If it is, he'll get himself a Cy Young. AJ did pretty much everything he could to lose this game. He's going to be, by far, the weakest link in the lineup this year. I expect everyone else to have a good year offensively, but he'll be the guy we'll be wishing weren't up in a big situation.

Milledge DFA
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) Yeah, the same old song and dance. No accountability. Except for Lastings Milledge. Who got held accountable. For playing poor defense in two games. Look, I understand it's easier to attack the poster who is being negative, but we all know the pitching has been bad outside of Jackson. And even though we've put some good runs on the board, we've also already seen instances of not having the best approaches at the plate when we need to scratch one our two runs across. In this short, short season, we've seen a good offense complimented by bad pitching. That is a trend with this team (although sometimes reversed) where one aspect of the team drastically underperforms and it eventually costs the division. Of course people are going to ask how I can judge the team after so few games, but it isn't acceptable to judge Milledge so quickly. That's because Milledge is completely new to this team, whereas the team itself is basically the same over the years with few changes. Again, thank the Lord for Jackson.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) If you overreact all the time, you are due to get some comments. Especially since you get all huffy about Milledge being cut after a coupls misplayed balls but at the same time get all huffy about how bad the Sox are after a couple games. I get "huffy" because it's been the same old song and dance up to this point. Thank God Edwin Jackson has been good.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) Mark Kotsay is a useful player when used properly. If we start to see a ton of Lillibridge ABs, I would be surprised. Any player that makes a major league club isn't literally entirely useless. I'm hoping your original response was facetious.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) Didn't know world series were won during the first week of the season. Either way, our record is solid and our team on paper and on the field looks pretty damn solid to me. THEY'RE NOT?! Gee, thanks for letting me know, mister!

Milledge DFA
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) That run he scored in the 9th was kind of useful yesterday. I'm sure Kotsay scored a winning or tying run a few times last year. Good point.

Milledge DFA
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) Because they need to bring up a pitcher? And if he wouldn't have gone this week, it would've been next week when JP comes up. Or, you know, they could make the right choice and drop Lillibridge. At this point, I'm certain that Ozzie HAS to have a useless player on his roster every year, no matter what.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Ok, how about this. The great Twins you love to fellate are -14 in run differential already while the White Sox are +6. You're thinking of J4L.

Milledge DFA
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) This is the strongest White Sox roster I have seen in a very long time. We are 5 games into the season and haven't played a home game. The team is first in baseball in runs scored and runs per game with 40 and 8.0, respectively. Why on Earth would you have you given up on the roster already? And where are they in pitching? Again, I haven't "given up" based on anything, let alone a single roster move. My faith is just slowly going downhill. Besides, if it's too early to start losing faith in the team, why is it acceptable to dump Milledge after 2 games?

Adam Dunn had emergency appendectomy last night.
Wow, terrible choice of words, Dunn.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) Your doom and gloom approach has probably offended him. I know it offends me when we haven't even played a home game yet! Come on, man! Keep the faith. Keeping the faith is basically a Cubs mentality. I need to see the play on the field and the correct decisions made by the front office and managing staff.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) Man I hope that the team doesn't see that you are losing faith in them. They could become sad. Why don't you stick to discussing the team instead of insulting me.
