  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 10:07 AM) When you took 3 of 4 from the Tigers, you better take 3 of 4 from a 36 win Orioles team. Horrendous. You have to win the majority of the games against them.
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 07:06 AM) Yeah as long as the Twins lose I can't find myself upset. And it's not like the Twins lost to a good team either. There are going to be losses where the offense doesn't show up. Of course I will be upset if they can't take three games in this series. That's the key.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) 6/10 for "The Other Guys". Lots of funny jokes, but I was waiting for it to end the last half hour or so. I'd give it like a 7, but yeah. It wasn't one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, but it was definitely a movie worth seeing in the theaters.
  4. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Maybe it's like soap opera amnesia, and the super powers he developed from the first bomb were nullified by the second bomb? Then his luck was even worse than it originally seemed.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Good opportunity to post this, though it may have already been posted here a few months ago: Man who survived 2 atom bombs dies http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/01/0...dies/index.html The fact that this guy never developed superpowers makes me believe nobody ever will.
  6. I'll tell you one thing, these assholes better take the next three in this series.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) I have no idea why Ozzie played Lillibridge the whole game. Terrible game all-around. Games against bad teams don't matter, so don't get too worked up about it.
  8. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Buck Douchewalter and his stupid mind games . . . How'd you come up with that one?!
  9. Tony Pena is much better than most of you give him credit for. Awesome!
  10. This is turning out well. Losing the opening game in terrible fashion to the worst professional baseball team around.
  11. Another brilliant premiere performance for a White Sox rookie pitcher.
  12. QUOTE (rafacosta @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) my goodness...im about to start drinking and getting to go out. this game is pissing me off. I was gonna stay in, but this is making me reconsider.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Thought that was going out, dad gummit AJ....did Harrelson call it a homer? Kotsay with a bad jump, he hesitated, it's not 100% because he's slow, although that's undoubtedly part of the problem, too...should have pinch-run Lillibridge there probably. The Orioles are a different team the least 7-10 days under Showalter. We're not going to storm through them, I wouldn't be surprised if we only won 2/4. Tough to do that when he's starting at another position. And I don't give a s*** who their manager is. It doesn't change the fact that they're the worst team in all of baseball. 2/4 would be a travesty.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) Wow, AJP has no power at all. This pitcher is so brutal, and all we get is one damn run. Plus he'd only thrown like 81 pitches at the start of that inning.
  15. STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH (never mind the outfielder getting read to grab ball) STRETCH DADGUMMIT
  16. Anyone going in there tonight? We can talk about how Danks is being made a fool of by the worst team in baseball.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) It is one of those moments when you just are not sure what the best course of action is. The development of the Atomic Bomb was not for the Japanese Front, it was to combat Hitler and to hopefully get one before he did. The use of the atomic bomb against Japan is debatable. In my opinion there is no right answer. No matter what thousands of people were going to die, whether it was American troops, Japanese troops or Japanese civilians. That being said, Im not sure that even the US understood what the ramifications of the bomb would be. When you're the leader of a nation, you choose to save your people every time.
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) That was certainly the majority opinion for many decades and now that is changing as more becomes known about Japan's capacity (or lack thereof) to continue its war efforts. That said, I respect this opinion, especially as held by WWII vets like my grandfather who believed whole-heartedly that Japan would not have surrendered otherwise. In any case, let us hope to never again see nuclear weapons used against fellow human beings. And that's all we can base it on. Given the circumstances at the time, it was the right decision.
  19. Yeah, I don't tell people I post here. And if someone sees me on the site, I say I just read it for news and information on the Sox.
  20. With all due respect to the people who suffered (and continue to suffer) due to the bombings, I still say it was the right decision.
