  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) because the rant is the reason the Sox forgot how to hit in Baltimore and it's also the reason that Freddy was throwing batting practice to the Twins last night. Same way that Kotsay's clubhouse antics help the team to play better?
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) The scene in Saving Private Ryan where the American soldier is slowly stabbed to death by the German who was calmly telling him it would be OK in German. That's a tough one, yes. The one scene from a movie that I can't/won't watch is the paper cut stuff from Jackass. I heard about it before I saw it, figured out what was about to happen before they did anything, and didn't watch. To this day, I will not watch that scene.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) I know I am in the minority but East Bound and Down got old pretty fast for me. That show has no legs. It's funny because it's a lot of cursing and put-downs, but that cannot last. I don't say this to any of my friends because they think it's the funniest thing that has ever been and I would get ridiculed to no end for my opinion.
  4. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Close games. Offense in a rut but ruts happen over the course of a year. Baltimore has talent, they're in a tough division. We dropped three of four to the same team, we shouldnt get so bent out of shape over this instead of a different 3 out of 4 lost to several teams of comparable talent. As does every major league baseball team. The Orioles just happen to be the worst "talented" major league team.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) ??? I knew somebody was going to do this. What are you saying? Putz goes into a tie game in extras and Roberts just hammers the everloving f*** out of the ball... I mean... it happens. That excuse is used for Jenks and to an extent it's valid, but Jenks passed that threshhold a few weeks ago (probably when his ERA got back over 5 again). I figured someone would do it, too. On the other hand, Putz seems to have been giving runs up quite a bit recently.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) The Japanese got an invitation by the Russians in 1945 to try to negotiate the conditions, and when the Japanese ambassador showed up the Soviet foreign minister handed him a formal declaration of war instead. I imagine the Japanese ambassador had better days than that. Haha, awesome.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) Draw Backs: 1. One less man in the pen. Essentially the Linebrink role, if the Sox would cut him. 2. The better performances could drive up prices for guys like Danks and EJax. You could argue that it would hurt their trade value, too. A team may not want them during a pennant run because you wouldn't be able to expect them to pitch on a normal routine for anyone but that of a 6-man rotation.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 02:56 AM) I couldn't disagree with you more. In fact, I don't know that I have ever disagreed with a series of posts more so than these that you've been posting over the course of the last week. If I wanted to cheer on a team this way, I would wear a royal blue cap with a red "C" on it. You and I don't agree too often, but it's beautiful when we do.
  9. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) Bingo. Our WW2 atrocities always followed a Russia power display. Dresden came shortly after the Russians leveled Berlin in a matter of days and the bombs got dropped on Japan once Manchuria was invaded. As for the Japanese mounting a defense, the only question to ask is: with what? During Okinawa the IJN sent every last man they had on a suicide mission after the American carrier fleet with only enough fuel to get there. If they had any planes (which they didn't), they surely didn't have anyone left to fly them. They would've quit once they saw how useless it was fight back. So, despite the fact that nobody could ever prove this, you have shown me the light.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) You dont have to worry. Many of the people have moved on or at least to different forums on this message board. So Ill just go back to being a ghost, while the rest of you can have what has become a pity party. Its not difficult to be negative, its really easy. You win no matter what. If the team sucks, youre right, if the team wins, you say that it won despite your complaints. Its a no lose situation. Its a lot harder to actually be positive and believe. If they blow a game like today or 2 days ago, youve got nothing to hide behind. You dont have a thread where you can say that they would have won if only the Sox had listened to you. You dont get to take solace in how much "smarter" you are than the current owner, GM or manager. Football and basketball are starting soon, you can find me in those threads. They are far more bearable. Id rather listen to fans who are overly confident and think their teams walk on water, then listening to a fans who have a first place team and find something new to harp on every day. The mere fact some one would want another poster to leave just saddens me. I may not agree with certain people, I may have thought certain posters in the past were dumber than a rock, but I dont think I have ever wanted another poster to leave some where that they enjoyed. Anyway, dont worry, Ill tow the company line or just keep my mouth shut. No need to earn myself a warning for being positive and optimistic and trying to enjoy the White Sox, instead of always finding something negative to say. Not at all what I said. I'm just saying that, if the constant complaining bothers someone, why would they keep subjecting themselves to it? The site has been this way for quite some time and it's obviously not changing.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) Isn't this basically the exact same thread as yesterday? Is it suspension-worthy to suggest that people who are so unhappy about the site's environment just leave?
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) That's my argument. Boom! And it sucks balls to have to win the last game of a series against the worst team in baseball just to earn a split.
  13. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Yeah but what was left of those soldiers died on Okinawa, the remaining Japanese Army was not as tenacious as what the US encountered on Guadalcanal and Iwo. They had no airplanes, fuel, vehicles, bullets or rifles. Japan was incapable of even mounting a resistance against the 1940's American war machine. Also, when you task 22,000 soldiers to defend a tiny island its a lot easier than having the same number defend all of mainland Japan. If there was a pocket of fanatical resistance we could just bomb the tar out of it and go around. If you really look at it, Japan would've surrendered in the time it took our tanks to drive from one end of the island to the other. Maybe you would have roughly the same number dead as in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but you wouldn't have opened the whole can of worms that is nuclear warfare. Oh, OK. They would've given up in the time it took some tanks to drive from one end of the island to the other. Would've been that easy.
  14. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) O's are running out Millwood (2-11 6.05 ERA), Guthrie (5-11 4.21 ERA), and Mutusz (4-11 5.26 ERA) while we will run out Floyd, Buehrle, and Jackson. Danks has been VERY unlucky all season and it just continued last night. I still like our chances to win the next 3. Well, if we're looking at match-ups, we had our best chance in the first game.
  15. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) I'll take a split of a four game road series just about anytime, anywhere--especially in the first week of August. Even against a lowly team like the O's, 3 out of 4 is only mandatory at home. And against THE worst team in baseball.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) I get bored with the opposite of finding the negative in everything. Especially the people who never post until the team starts playing badly, even if it is just for a few innings. Who does that? It seems to me that most people post pretty regularly.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 10:07 AM) When you took 3 of 4 from the Tigers, you better take 3 of 4 from a 36 win Orioles team. Horrendous. You have to win the majority of the games against them.
  18. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 07:06 AM) Yeah as long as the Twins lose I can't find myself upset. And it's not like the Twins lost to a good team either. There are going to be losses where the offense doesn't show up. Of course I will be upset if they can't take three games in this series. That's the key.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) 6/10 for "The Other Guys". Lots of funny jokes, but I was waiting for it to end the last half hour or so. I'd give it like a 7, but yeah. It wasn't one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, but it was definitely a movie worth seeing in the theaters.
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Maybe it's like soap opera amnesia, and the super powers he developed from the first bomb were nullified by the second bomb? Then his luck was even worse than it originally seemed.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Good opportunity to post this, though it may have already been posted here a few months ago: Man who survived 2 atom bombs dies http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/01/0...dies/index.html The fact that this guy never developed superpowers makes me believe nobody ever will.
  22. I'll tell you one thing, these assholes better take the next three in this series.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) I have no idea why Ozzie played Lillibridge the whole game. Terrible game all-around. Games against bad teams don't matter, so don't get too worked up about it.
  24. These guys are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
  25. Other teams take the extra base on us so often and so easily.
