White Sox vs. Rays - 1:05 CSN, TBS
Yeah, that's why we need relatively fast outfielders instead of the slowest possible outfield that any team could possibly field.

White Sox vs. Rays - 1:05 CSN, TBS
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) this game should be 4-0, unreal. Alright, I'm all about the pessimism, but c'mon. We just had a rally. Enjoy it.

Yessssssssssss...let's keep it rolling, Quentin. He had been in a little funk with the RISP situations recently, but no more.

Did Hawk leave? I haven't heard him in a while.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:36 PM) Any chance it might rain today? I've never heard Hawk sound so defeated. He sounded like he was anointing the Rays the champions earlier.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) We have 4 there, and that includes Richard going tomorrow. I know. I'm saying that we'll probably win or split the series, and people will say we're fine. We can't beat the good teams.

QUOTE (FranktheTank35 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) So who still thinks we're going to make the playoffs? Playing like such ass at home, I don't even care that its the Rays. We have been EMBARRASSED so far. Eh, I'm sure we'll win 2 or 3 in Baltimore, and everything will be "right" again.

Do people still consider Buehrle an ace? I've never seen a guy just cave so consistently with errors in my life.

Good job, "ace." Mark Buehrle has never overcome an error or miscue in his entire career.

No one's made a Sox loser thread after 8/23 loss
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) Stop yelling. No one knows when he is supposed to come back, and that includes Linebrink and Cooper. Now in my opinion, if the Sox weren't in a playoff race, Linebrink would have been shut down for the season weeks ago. I give him credit for trying to come back, but I don't think it happens. If it does, I can't imagine him being any where near as effective as he was in the first half. Losing Linebrink was the biggest blow to this team all season. The Sox went from an above average pen to poor overnight. Agreed. In fact, I think most would agree. I think we need him to come back healthy if we intend on making the playoffs/making any noise in the playoffs. The bullpen has had some strong runs during his absence, but it's been awful for the most part.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN LINEBRINK IS SCHEDULED TO COME BACK?

The Lord of the Rings is on TNT right now. I hate the way they say Mordor.

Ozzie "clarifies" his Crede Remarks
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) Of course Ozzie is going to play Crede if healthy. The key words are "if healthy", which Crede has not been. It would be nice to get a boost from Crede at the end of the year playing for a contract The bad thing is that Crede will definitely get starts when he returns to try to prove that he is healthy. He, of course, will not be healthy and will likely hurt the team during a crucial time of the year. So, those obligatory few games where we "have" to give him a chance, before we decide he's not our best option and still clearly injured, will end up being negative for the team.

I think it's reasonable for any fan to start getting that feeling of hopelessness. We've never beaten the Twins for this division when both teams were competitive. They always beat us down the stretch, and the Sox always choke at the end of the year.

Today's bullpen implosion, brought to you by Seattle Sutton
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) is linebrink ever going to come back? Yes, when the f*** is this guy returning? He must've missed half the season already. Is there a date for his return?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Thornton had the chance to get out of that inning with the Sox still tied if OC could field the damn ball. Does he have naked pictures of the official scorer? I've never seen a player get the benefit of the call more than he does. He better f***ing not win a gold glove this year. I will actively be rooting against it. And honestly, this is a playoff caliber team?

Sox Loser
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) Well, no offense, sir, but "from what 'you' can tell" is not accurate. Do you get to watch the games at all? I'm not trying to mock you or anything, but I see you're from Vegas. Dotel throws a fastball. That is it.

Two games into the their road trip, the Twins are 2-0. That's not good for us.

Films Thread
Since there's little point in watching the game that's on right now, I'm going to watch Road to Perdition. This is going to be my personal farewell to Paul Newman. To me, this was his greatest role. He was a guy I could never see as a bad guy, and then he went and pulled it off perfectly in this role.

8/22 Rays vs White Sox 7:11 PM CDT - CSN
I really hate it when we go on a nice roll, and then we lose to serious playoff contenders. It's disheartening.

I didn't see the second homer. Was it on a fastball?
