QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) That must have been some kind of inside joke between Norm and Bob, or Norm and the other comics. If it wasn't, then Norm completely mailed it in. Either way, he sucked the funny right out of the room. It was painful to watch. I didn't laugh once. Then Jeff Garlin came up and failed at his routine, too, and he was clearly trying to be funny. Cloris was great, no matter who wrote her jokes. Her delivery was spot-on. My favorite joke of hers (trying to repeat it as best I can, but the gist is there): "Would someone please punch me in the face so I can see some stars?" The other comedians seemed to enjoy it. I'm looking around the internet, and it seems people are taking polar opposite stances on that routine. People like me, who thought it was hilarious/original, and people that think it was pathetic.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Yeah, Norm had to do that on purpose. I thought Cloris Leachman was surprisingly funny. I would have liked to hear the part of Gilbert's joke that they totally cut out. I don't know if it could be more obvious that it was on purpose. He was telling jokes that you'd hear in first grade or the early 1900's. I wonder if Cloris Leachman actually wrote her own stuff, though.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) I want to go back and watch the whole show, but Norm MacDonald's bit during the Bob Saget roast was the least funniest thing I think I have ever seen. I have seen trainwrecks that were funnier than that. I like Norm MacDonald, so I disagree. I believe he was intentionally telling awful jokes in such a deadpan, sarcastic tone that he pushed you to the point of having to laugh at how bad it was. It seemed like a mockery of what made him so great on Weekend Update. He was given terrible jokes to work with back then, but told them anyway and mocked them in doing so. It's probably a very acquired taste. Gilbert Gottfried was, by far, the funniest up there, though. So, if you have any proof that BOB SAGET RAPED AND KILLED A GIRL IN 1990, stop gossiping and go to the police.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) ESPN Radio had some stupid poll of who is greater Phelps or the cubs. The cubs were getting 64% of the vote, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP! Well, they're very similar when you think about it. One has broken the all-time Olympic gold medal count and the record for gold medals in a single Olympiad, while the other hasn't won a World Series since 1908 or been to one since 1945.

Wow, that HHH/Khali match was the best match of the night, so far. I don't see Khali very much, but I have to admit that he's come a long way since first coming to the WWE. That's not saying too much, but I mean it as a compliment.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Anybody getting the PPV tonight? I think I may try to find a stream, since i'm only interested in 2 matches. Anyway, here's predictions. Mickie/Kofi over Santio/Beth, stupid match, stupid gimmick. MVP over Hardy, these 2 should put on a good one Cena over Batista, eh i'm picking the lesser of 2 evils...this feud will be typical (i.e. Cena wins tonight, Batista wins at the next PPV, they have the blowoff match at the next.) Henry over Hardy, they've done a decent job of putting Henry over so I don't see him losing it quite yet Punk over JBL, This is THE time to put Punk over as a legit champ. HHH over Khali, no explanation needed. 'Taker over Edge, I wish Edge would get the W tonight...but I highly doubt that'll happen. I'm getting it.

Great game all around. I really hope Vazquez keeps up this streak. It'd be absolutely huge.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) You give Halliday credit for a .04 better WHIP, yet Lee's 0.22 difference in ERA is only marginally significant? Yeah, that's really selective on his part. Lee should definitely get it, as of this moment.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 08:02 AM) Sorry you had a bad time, dude. I don't like the Allman Brothers, so I didn't want to say anything before you went. Did the Allman Brothers' hardcore fans seem to enjoy the show? I saw Blues Traveler once, and it was the same thing - a ton of "noodling" turning 4 minute songs into 14 minute snoozefests. I hate that crap. It actually seemed like more people were there for the opening act, Bob Weir and RatDog. And yes, they seemed to like it. Mostly to do with what Leonard said. It was awful, though. They played Melissa and Whipping Post. That was it.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) Going to see the Allman Brothers tomorrow. This was, by far, the worst concert I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. During a 3-hour set, they played (and I'm not exaggerating) 8-10 songs. Only two of them were relatively popular songs. f*** this band, that's all I have to say.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) I always thought the crazy skinnier guy who wasnt shaved bald looked like the old WCW wrestler Crowbar. I agree they never got a fair shake, after a lot of work to put them out there. I think a problem WWE has with a lot of wrestlers and tag teams is that they create these stories for them and paint themselves into a corner in regards to expanding the storyline or characters. Once the story has run its course, there really isnt that much to do with the character/team so they let them fade into nothing. I cant see those two guys wanting to be the Scots pretending to be William Wallace-era warriors forever, it just wears thin. Who were they going to have a promo with? Cade and Murdoch? Maybe. London and Kendrick were just blah, even though they were fun to watch. They could have possibly done something with an english team(Burchill and Regal?), but WWE fans probably wouldnt even pick up on what the storyline was. Hopefully they can repackage themselves and come back sometime. I actually enjoyed watching them wrestle. How many times has Stevie Richards been let go by WWE? edit: I never read the story about Robbie going to the TNA tapings the week before Wrestlemania and being seen on camera, and losing his $5000 wrestlemania paycheck. What a dumbass I liked them, too. I thought they were pretty solid wrestlers. On the TNA thing, that was a bush league move by TNA showing him in some desperate attempt to make themselves seem more legitimate by f***ing over some mid-carder.

I don't understand how someone can root against their country. I can see rooting for the country of your ancestors, but not when they're going against your own country. I mean, Serbia? C'mon. I understand patriotism and all, but you're American. Go live in Serbia for an extended period of time and see if you think it's still so great.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) The ax fell again at Titan Tower. Gone are: Big Stevie Cool, Stevie Richards Colin Delaney Both of The Highlanders Cherry and some ref named Wes Adams. Those guys really never got a chance. They had a nice build-up to their entrance to the WWE with all the promos, but then they never did a damn thing with them.
