  1. Is Maddux the pitcher that hit Dye after Thome's homer? Also, so Pods is fine?
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Another reason they cut Nelson loose is because Josh Hancock, whom they claimed off waivers from the Reds, is also pitching lights-out this spring. He's younger (27) than Nelson (39) and will earn less money than him. The Cardinals just didn't feel like paying Nelson $800,000 when they had a younger alternative who is also having a great spring... http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...t=.jsp&c_id=stl Is Hancock the guy the Reds released because he's fat?
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) Who else, besides Frank, do you consider a potential HOF'er? I don't see Canseco, McGriff or Gonzalez making it. I would guess he has to mean Gonzalez. Canseco clearly has no shot at all, and McGriff just isn't a HOFer.
  4. Hmm, any chance we trade to get Vizcaino back? That's sarcastic, but yet not at the same time.
  5. How would people feel if we gave up one of our few remaining good prospects for Cruz?
  6. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) I have only seen a handful of games on tv so far this spring training....but if Hawk keeps referring to the Sox as the "Defending World Champs" every half inning they are coming up to bat, all season long I might lose my sanity. I love Hawk but that will get REALLY annoying. I get annoyed with Hawk probably more than most, but that is one thing he cannot say enough. I thought I'd die without actually seeing it happen, so I want to be reminded of it a whole lot.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Haha, Neifi Perez, John Mabry, Henry Blanco, Jerry Hairston now THAT is a bench. I didn't want to mention the Cubs right off the bat because it would seem like I was just hating on the Cubs. But, that bench seems pretty pathetic to me.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) He's not good enough to have a spot on this bench. Sean McAdam has an article on ESPN.com about the top 5 benches in baseball. The Sox aren't mentioned. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=2376779 I think it's kind of laughable.
  9. I just saw V for Vendetta. That movie was f***ing great. I'd recommend it to anyone.
  10. OT, but the song Gin And Juice was not recorded by Phish. It is incorrectly labeled as so. It was actually by a band called The Gourds. Of course, the original is by Snoop Dog.
  11. An awful lot of rumors with Arroyo, all of which send way too much back to Boston for his ass.
  12. Can this guy really get away with the constant personal attacks?
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) Bah... I hate St. Patty's I went to my local pub because my friends implored me to. You can't even move in there. Can't get in the front door. I came in through the kitchen. Luckily they know me there. F'n amateurs. I had one beer, not green, and left. I couldn't agree more. I look at St. Patrick's day as an opportunity for people (many of whom are barely Irish) to say something like, "I'm Irish...look at me...LOOK AT ME!!!!" And absolutely no offense to SSI and the like, because he's clearly very Irish and still has strong Irish roots, but most people just come off as annoying on this day to me. I'm also half Irish, BTW. I just get tired of the fake people out there (once again not aiming this at the people in this thread).
  14. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) everyone stop freaking out. Don't worry, be Happy. Thanks, Bobby McFerrin.
  15. Oh, fantastic. Another thing to worry me.
  16. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) This is a double kick in the face to the Bush Administration. Cuba is in the semi-finals after origanally not being allowed to participate, and Team USA is out. If Cuba won the whole thing, just imagine the embarisment Bush would have to deal with. I doubt the Bush administration gives a flying f*** about that.
  17. Can Borchard really steal a base? This is an honest question. That's one thing I don't recall ever hearing about him.
  18. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) lololololol brian i owe you so much!!!! OMG FUSLCKHJdofjha;ldkfjs ahahhahahha on st. pattys day no less hahahahahahah oh god i love you brian pLZ MARRY ME K? Did Samuel L. Jackson whip a guy with a snake? Oh man, that movie looks so f***ing stupid, but I'd be lying if I said I don't wanna see it at all.
  19. I see the article is from the Tribune. There is your answer.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) See the last part of that I agree with. Unlike Timo, Borch can switch hit and hit for power. And Lord knows he can hit for a better average than Timo did last year, as well as play the field a lot better. I wouldn't be so sure about that. Timo's average last year was .218. Borchard's career BA is .191, and he batted .174 in the year in which he got his most AB's.
