QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) I just got back from The New World. It was the longest, most boring piece of crap I've seen in a while. There is basically no fight scenes. There's one, to be exact. And it was just a love story. It sucked. Oh I loved the New World. One of the best movies of the year. I think anybody interested in American History should see this. It is very accurate and will probably become a video that they show in History Classes when they are talking about Jamestown and the settlement of the colonists and Native Americans instead of Pocahontas (which is just a corny romance has not historical accuracy.) It is also not a chick flick. It has some great battle sequences and the sets are amazing. What is the problem with making a love story. I also recomend another great movie called Junebug. this movie is a great comedy. I laughed a lot and it is very sweet and warm hearted.

I am glad Amy Adams was nominated.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) Two thoughts: 1. Syriana as an original screenplay? Uh no, its an adaptation. Why do they do this every year? Do they not know what an adaptation is? I remember seeing Thirteen Days nominated a few years ago as an original screenplay. Huh? I read the book, and they were factual events anyway. Just annoys me. 2. I'll add a third possibility to Rex's two (Brokeback and Luck). If Hollywood wants to avoid political messages entirely, they'll go with Crash. Which I thought was better than Brokeback anway (I haven't see Luck). yeah but it is so loosely based on the book. None of the characters are the same.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) 6 of you really need to check your alliance to the Sox. Would you honestly root for Frank Thomas if he was the one to decide it we were to get into the playoffs or win the pennant? :headshake what if that wasn't the case?
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) ''I'm shocked they brought in Jim Thome. He was more injured than I was last year. And they guaranteed him all that money. So I don't know where they're going with that. What's the logic behind it?" Frank is once again whining about guaranteed money, and Thome was not more injured than Frank last season. how is that trashing somebody. He never said Thome Sucks or anything like that.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) Hmm, I am sure SI came out with plenty of articles in 1998 about Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa's "workout programs". you don't take steroids to lose weight.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) About steroids or about Lopez losing weight? SI isn't quite the best place to look for knowledge on steroids. about Lopez losing weight and the workout program that he was on. It wasn't steroids thats for sure.
-
Same as always except against the Sox.
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) your arguments are always so strong and top notch josh..... try reading an SI article on this stuff.
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Did your sources tell you this? no but based on the fact that he lost about 20 pounds in 2003 that wouldn't be taking roids.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Well Kenny's quote from last night is, "He wouldn't have signed with us for that much." He also went on to say if he did sign for a lesser contract, it wouldn't have been in their best interests. This is me personally, but I rather would have liked to seen Thome at 1B and Thomas DH. Konerko gets into horrible slumps and at times, it boggles me how he does get to 40HR's. And at that, I still wonder how a man with 40HR's, has way less RBI's than guys with 35. That's just my 2 cents. BTW, thanks for the article read kyyle. i agree.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:18 AM) Javy better get back on the juice if he wants that kind of money. he was never on the juice.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) According to Kenny, he did give Frank a curteousy call. He had to leave a message, because Frank wouldn't answer his phone. Isn't it odd how Frank has found the time to attend the A's fanfest this weekend, but often had excuses to skip out of Soxfest. If he had re-signed with the Sox, chances are he would have used his current injury or recent marriage or some other excuse not to attend Soxfest. He may be a nice guy, but good riddance. you gotta be kidding me.
-
Before trashing him think about it through his perspective: The Sox didn't even offer him a contract or seriously ask to see how he was doing. Kenny never wanted him back after 2005 and it was obvious he was waiting for the chance to buy him out. Yet they go out and get Jim Thome who also has serious injury problems. If i were in that situation i would feel the same way. kenny didn't want him back and it was obvious. Nothing Kenny can say can change that. I think Frank thought that they would at least try to work something out for 2006 but Kenny didn't even try to.

I am gonna see the New World tomorrow. Can't wait.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) And everything was equal when considering those stats of course but i thought Grossman was the savior. I thought he was supposed to be this great QB. If Grossman's stats aren't better than Orton's why make the switch. Grossman was not an upgrade over Orton and I watched every Bears game this year. They were the same. They both sucked. But if you have a QB who has started 14 games vs a QB who has started no games and he will at most have 6 quarters to play you pick the one who has started the 14 games. I know they rested Grossman against the Vikings however if you are that concerned that your QB is gonna get hurt he shouldn't be your QB. Hell even career wise there isn't that much of a difference. They both suck right now. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) When the backup QB is Kyle Orton, then you should have a "Vote for Rex" pin on. was he really that bad? Because Rex's stats are worse.
