QUOTE(Vance Law @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) I'm certainly not an Ozzie-basher to the degree of some people, but this particularly annoys me. Hey, Ozzie, the baseball team doesn't exist so that you can "feel like a manager," dips***. Just change the pitchers and be a good cheerleader in the clubhouse. I don't think that is what he meant. The '05 team was the Best Sox team in recent memory in being able to manufacture runs. Pods was a much better leadoff hitter than Harris was. He could do more with Guch and Uribe than he could with Valentin and Harris. Everret was much faster than Thomas. Ozzie was able to do a lot more situational hitting with that lineup compared to the '04 lineup. With the '04 one it was just sit and wait for the HR. '05 could get the job done without the HR. More managing was done. Really a simple concept.

the ads this year have been lame. I can't wait to see what these new guys will bring. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) This man loves to play. It's crazy to think he was playing for the Sox 13 years ago. and he was old then

Didn't Ozzie or someone say that Andy Gonzalez was going to work at first during the winter leagues?

It was a great story when the Cardinals let him try to come back as a hitter. Now it is an awesome story. -
Ryan Langerhans has Iron Man because the opening chords match the syllables in his name. awesome.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) I'm proud to say I wasn't watching. I turned it on by chance right after the hubbub ended. I don't feel like I missed any thing.

Sox Mailbag has some interesting tidbits

thats why you need a solid plan B for left next year if Crede goes down. If he stays healthy I think that we will be solid at the corners at least. -
I had this thought today actually. The '06 Tigers mirrored the '05 Sox so why not.

I'd only keep him around for '08 as a backup OF/1B. No way he'd be an everyday starter.

QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:41 AM) It says MVP, not Hall of Fame. Bagwell won the MVP in 93, while Mo won in 95 ahh woops. Guess I read that wrong. lol. I knew I was tired but didn't realize I was that tired.
-
not sure where else to post this but I got a chuckle reading this on Jeff Bagwell's wikipedia. "The Boston Red Sox chose Mo Vaughn in the first round of the 1989 draft ahead of Bagwell. It is the only time in history that a team selected two future MVPs in the same draft." I am fairly certain that Mo wont get in and Bagwell could and most likely will fall short too.

A game like tonight is is why I still watch the sox. The feeling of elation after a win is the greatest. The sun shines brighter the next day, food tastes better, the world isn't so bad. That is why I still watch.

and thats why you don't sign a pitcher for 5 years

Way to go Frank. I think I may have to get Blue Jays jersey to celebrate. Frank was the best hitter I have ever seen.

Best line from that sequence from Hawk, "Hey!!! Stay on second base, you'll be safe. They'll find some way to get you there."

I'd rather watch a guy playing his heart out than a guy dogging it. Erstad type all the way.

^Gehrig did the same thing. The Yanks were on the road and he lead off the game as the shortstop and was pulled once they took the field.

QUOTE(PoopsThompson @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) He took the first pitch of the at bat for a strike... Woops missed that. Knowing Uribe I just assumed I guess. lol
