Pete Rose, Gambling, PEDs
QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Is that true? Did he bet on games he played in? he was a manager/player at the end.

2013 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 08:58 AM) My favorite games of all-time get another sequel, and this one looks absolutely glorious. I like how Bane is Bane now, and not some gigantic two-story freak that makes dinosaur roars. It looked like the knightfall back breaking scene was happening in that trailer

Pete Rose, Gambling, PEDs
QUOTE (TheBigHurtIsBack @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 11:48 PM) Amen. Does anyone really give a f*** about what he did? Did he cheat at the game? Did he take PEDs? Unless something he did unfairly impacted what he did as a player, it shouldn't matter. Period. Pete Rose should be in the HoF, no question. As far as greg goes, why does anyone even bother trying to reason with him anymore? Lost cause if there ever was one. Well, he gambled on games that he played and managed in. So, yeah, you could say it was unfairly impacted.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) Yeah, but he also has > 600 home runs. Remember when Bonds was near the end of his career and nobody was willing to offer him a contract despite the fact that he would have been one of the best offensive producers in baseball for like $10 million a year? I think a big distinction here is that Dunn would have presumably done it without PEDs. Bonds, Pujols and Arod would be first ballot without thinking twice if they didnt have the steroid issues hanging over their heads

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) Dude. Greg's point is that it's unprecedented how a guy who might reach 600 home runs can't even be given away. 15 million dollars for 40 hrs and 100 RBIs. Bad ass "production" as many claim yet 29 other teams say hell no. How is that not unprecedented? Examples please. All bashing aside. Dude, gregs point is always "this guy makes blah blah money he is a bum i dont like him he isnt Konerko because I love him why didnt anyone trade for him?" you cant automatically assume anyone is going to take on his contract. Just because he has a chance to hit 600 homeruns doesnt mean that teams should line up and take on his contract. IF he hits 600 homeruns, he will most likely be considered very heavily for the hall of fame. That doesnt mean I think he will hit that many, because a lot of things have to fall in place in order for him to do that. He has to stay healthy, he has to stay productive, neither of those are guaranteed.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) You know who should be in the HOF? Juan Pierre. Pierre doesnt have the distinction of being one of the elite in any category. This is all contingent on Dunn hitting 600 homeruns of course, which means he will have to play pretty well for the rest of his career.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
Ok, for real now. Adam Dunns worth to another team right now doesnt do anything to change the fact that he could join an elite list of homerun hitters in the hall of fame. It doesnt make him one of the best overall players to ever play the game, but rather makes him one of the best power hitters to ever play the game.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) I believe only 8 have hit 600. What a nonsequitir, however, re. Dunn. Right now, nobody would even claim him on waivers because of fear the White Sox would just let him go. It just confounds me. We have a guy basically no team wants who could make the Hall of Fame. It's unprecedented. BECAUSE ONLY 8 PEOPLE IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME HAVE HIT THAT MANY HOMERUNS WHY IS THAT SO HARD FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND?!?!?!

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) It's funny how in the Pro Football Hall of Fame you pretty much can't get in unless you win and win big. It's totally different in baseball. But in my opinion, Baseball's Hall simply cannot ever consider Dunn unless he wins something. You are talking about a guy no other team will even acquire at his current salary! Nobody in baseball wants him, folks, at his current salary. And we're talking HALL OF FAME? how many players have hit 600 homeruns, Greg? Forget about salary, other teams wanting him, etc.

Sale 6th in baseball in WAR
QUOTE (KG#1 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) And that isn't even the case sometimes . . . Errors that lead to runs. W/L for a pitcher should be one of the last stats people look at when evaluating a pitcher. No way Sale has 11 losses on the season if he has a good offense/defense behind him. hell, it doesnt even have to be good. I would accept mediocre. Sale has gotten some of(if not) the worst run support in the league

In my mind i don't think Orton is deserving of a title run, but I think this persona works well for him. I thought he had his best run as the cocky, slightly out of control young menber of Evolution. Running with the Mcmahons should create the same effect. I was sick of the Viper crap anyways lol

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) ....Or not. Am I only one that thinks those Ryback segments are pretty weak? However it would be cool if they used one of those segments to debut a small guy like Generico. Rollins was putting no weight on it after Ziggler put him over the rope, it looked like he did some serious damage right off the bat Rybacks bully segments are really stupid. Oh yea, John Cena's elbow, holy s***!!!!

ARod suspended for entire 2014 season
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 08:59 AM) When did any of those guys accuse the Yankees of trying to hurt them to save money? Who cares? Nobody is the good guy here, I have no pity for either party. And it is no secret that the Yankees want this contract voided, so lets not pretend like Arods fib is completely unfounded.

ARod suspended for entire 2014 season
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) I think having his camp publicly declare war on one of MLB's great, well-run franchises, with the stuff his camp said yesterday, is pretty good motivation. ARod's s*** stinks so much that he has me being complimentary to the Yankees. f*** that. Clemens and Pettitte were juicing back when they were winning 20 games like it was no big deal, the Yankees have had Arod on the payroll while he has been juicing. And there are probably more juicers on those championship teams too. Dont give me this "great, well run"bulls***. They knew. And they went and signed ARod to a SECOND 300 million dollar contract ARods day will come, I dont need Dempster acting like he is the morality police.
