QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) I'd rather have Flowers on the bench over whoever our backup C is. Compare our bench to what the Tigers have So the tigers bench is worth -13 wins to the Sox?

does 200 Ks add up to -13 wins? Hahn should be elevated to god status for unloading Levigne, Nickelback and Linkin Park
  3. Last summer during preseason training camp Sean Jensen said he was at a restaurant and some little kid ran up to him and said "You are Jackie Chan!" and that the little boys dad was extremely embarrassed and apologized. Jensen put Chan up as his picture on twitter for a month because he thought it was so funny

We should trade for (insert teams best prospects) with (insert multiple mediocre unheard of prospects) and (player i dont like) and (decent player). And we should have spent (large sum of money) in free agency
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) There was always cap room for those moves, it's just whether the Bears wanted to spend for those guys. Remember what happened with Briggs...he expected a bigger deal than he got offered, he went out, took his time, and came crawling back to the Bears to take the deal they originally offered because no one else wanted to pay him. There can be room for some things and not for others. The Bears could have gone after several O-Linemen last year, but didn't...instead they got Forte and Marshall as the things they spent money on, in addition to some secondary depth. I dont remember that happening at all. I remember him showing up to the GM meetings with Rosenhaus and the 49ers getting very interested until the Bears threatened tampering charges. Then the Bears got serious with him and a deal got done.
  6. How many of us sat here saying the Briggs extensions would never happen because of Cap room, or the Forte extension would never get done, Urlacher, etc. The Bears find ways to get what they want.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) I don't think I am. I think Bears fans are imagining the team has much more cap freedom than it actually has. That's going to make choosing between Melton and an O-lineman hurt. How do you think it'll go if the Bears sign the #10 O-lineman on the board for $3 million and that's the only o-line addition they make before the draft? I think deciding right now what the bears can and cannot do is an incorrect way to go about it.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) It wasn't hacked. It was not the account to begin with. ah, parody account. Well then, that makes it funny
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) I'm guessing it was hacked. I would hope so
  10. I am very much looking forward to what happens with this team from the start of free agency through the draft.
  11. See, now whoever is running that twitter account is reveling in what happened to Te'o. If that is Touiasosopa that is just messed up
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) Would be shocked if it is anyone but Singletary. Problem is, isn't Mike more of a 3-4 guy? Or am I mistaken. He clearly knew talent (just look at San Fran's LB's which were identified under Singletary's watch). Singletary has really been around a lot of different defenses. Ravens, 49ers, he was ST last year with Minnesota but it isnt as if he isnt watching. And of course the 46. I think Singletary would be a distraction, but I am not convinced that he would be a terrible DC

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:43 PM) I love me some DirecTV. The only problem is that if the weather is legitimately bad (ie, heavy rain or snow), the picture will go out. Usually not for too long, but it happens. I had to go watch the Bears-Vikings game at a bar because my signal was out. EDIT: Despite that issue, it's still 1000x better than Comcast. You know what is weird, I live in sleepy hollow in a heavily wooded area, and I very rarely have outages. And when I do, if I switch to the non-hd channels, they usually are unaffected. The only time I get any problems is at the very beginning or very end of a storm, depending on which way it is going.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Can I ask for a show of hands of who still wants you posting on this board? You want to disagree and think that the Bears FO is great, that the hiring of Trestman is great, that the Bears can do no wrong, great, go for it. But I should be allowed to express my opinion that the Bears FO has bungled this decision from the start and that the evidence suggests that fans should be extremely cautious when it comes to trusting anything the Bears FO does. /shrugs Disagree or agree, Im not breaking any rules. I guess I find this discussion more interesting than talking about how Forte is going to be MVP and the Bears are going 16-0 after the sign Mike Wallace, trade for Joe Thomas and clone TE Mike Ditka. If thats fun, have at it. Who is telling you that you cant post on the board and/or breaking any rules. Pipe down the drama
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) Just a count of hands: There's a lot of cool things going on people want to talk about, how many want to continue down the path of baseless speculation of who the bears could've hired for OC last year, instead of the current staff? Im done. It doesnt matter, Im glad Lovie is gone, im glad that the team has made a concious effort to make the offense better. There will be some bumps in the road, but there would have been bumps in the road if lovie stayed around, just on a different side of the road.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) I was low balling cause I didnt want to argue the value. There is no way to argue its not worth hundreds of millions. I just didnt want to get in a valuation argument of whether its true a billion dollar company. You seem to be making arguments that I am not making. I never said it wasnt a lame duck job, I simply said that there were other options than either Martz or Tice. I also never said that the options may have be limited because of this. What I did say was that you cant just assume that "it wouldnt have mattered". Because if nothing matters, why are we firing Lovie in the first place? You seem to be giving the Bears FO the benefit of the doubt. I am simply asking, what have they done to be deserving of this? For the last few years the Bears offense has been the weakness. Yet the Bears put almost no time into finding a coach for their weakness. That is terrible. Now maybe it was Lovie. Maybe Lovie wanted Tice ony. But if that was the case, the Bears should have fired Lovie last year, and hired a New GM/New Coach and started fresh. That is the ultimate argument here, that the Bears FO f***ed this up from the start last year, when they did their backwards hire a GM, but cant fire a HC nonsense. And Im sorry, but you just cant blame Lovie for that. Again, assumption. Emery said he wanted to evaluate the team going forward, nobody has come out and said that Emery was given a directive to keep Lovie around.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) No if it was who Lovie wanted then Id be absolutely fine with the Bears firing Lovie because thats pretty ridiculous to not even look at your options. I dont know who had the power. And this is the point here. You dont know, yet you continue to blame the front office. From all accounts Lovie was very specific in who he wanted around and it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Just ask Ron Rivera. What was attractive about this job last January? Angelo was fired, Lovie was on an obvious short leash. What coach would want to tie himself to this team only to be looking for a new job in a year? Sure, the bears could have backed up the truck and offered tons of money to a new OC, but it wouldnt have mattered. This offensive line wasnt going to block anything, nobody was going to reinvent the wheel here. It was a lame duck job whether you want to admit it or not
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) The Bears didnt even look for a new OC when martz resigned. Tice was hired 3 days later. How can you even suggest the bears were stuck with Tice when they didnt even take a week to try and find a new OC? If I said "That is who Lovie wanted" you wouldnt believe it, and you would blame the front office. What is the point in arguing this with you? The Bears FO is to blame for everything, the end. On to next season
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) Thats just not true. There are plenty of coaches that want an opportunity. Im sure there were plenty of people that wanted to work for the Bears when Martz was brought in. The bears just thought Martz would do well. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4877772 The Bears had plenty of choices, they just took the wrong guy, per usual. Chud removed himself from consideration to become OC for the Panthers. Zampese also elected to stay with the Bengals. Jobs where the coaches werent lame ducks
  20. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Rob Ryan is actually a really good defensive coach. He'd never come here though for obvious reasons. Havent his team defenses consistently ranked in the bottom half?
  21. Rob Ryan for Distraction Coordinator I mean Defensive Coordinator look at me I have long hair and swear a lot!
  22. Fun Trestman quotes edited and taken out of context: "I first met Jay (cutler) 10 years ago, in a hotel room in Nashville. We had no facilities, and no Wide Recievers. For two days we just stared at each other." "I cannot wait to get my hands on Jay"
  23. If I were Manti Te'os agent, I would try and get him a deal with Skype. "I am Manti Te'o. You should use Skype. I wish I did." The end.
  24. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 07:25 AM) The idea turns my stomach, but what are you saying? You would cease to be a fan? No, I wouldnt cease to be a fan. But there is just no way I could get behind it, I would just pray that Jay doesnt have a Mark Sanchez meltdown
