  1. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 08:04 AM) Eh, other than OL and TE what other needs does this team have? The defense is pretty good across all levels, definitely NFL average or better. The RB's are solid, the QB is set. I'm really not opposed to going after a big name WR as long as there is a plan behind it to fix the OL. A Marshall-Wallace-Jeffery-Bennett WR group with a competent TE and Matt Forte could be really, really dangerous. Thats what I said in the followup post, TE and OL are much more pressing needs. Of course that WR group would be great, but Wallace is going to be an in-demand FA and I dont want the Bears jumping to the top of the bidding before they address other needs.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:48 AM) Hester really doesn't count as a WR under contract, IMO. He is, whether you like it or not. Hopefully he is dealt, but still, Bennett was just given new paper and you have Alshon lining up too. No need to go out and get a big FA WR over more pressing needs
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:01 AM) Jerry Rice compares Trestman to Bill Walsh. It was a very nice hire for the Bears. I got to meet Trestman when he was with the 49ers, he seem like a great guy Look for the Bears to sign a guy like Mike Wallace, Trestman loves having 2 star WR's lets not get crazy with the cheesewhiz here. The Bears have 3 WRs with big contracts in Marshall, Bennett and Hester, and they have Jeffery. Going out and getting Mike Wallace is not addressing the need of the offense, which is first and foremost Offensive Line. And probably tight end next.
  4. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 06:52 AM) Bud Grant And Marv Levy. Nothing recent though

  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) I wonder how much the disappearance of Hester had to do with the turnover in the special teams blockers, it didn't seem like he had the same holes as in the past. It started going bad when Ayenbadejo left, and gradually key guys like Corey Graham ended up leaving and nobody stepped up in their places unfortunately
  7. Fwiw I didn't know about that Christian hardy until my buddy texted me. He could be a kOna, he could be a Mr Fantasy Expert. We shall see
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 07:30 PM) I don't think the way to do that though is to decrease the points the Special Teams' scores The disappearance of Hester has reduced the ST scoring ability to pretty much Robbie Goulds leg. Toub is a good coach, but he can be replaced. Bringing the offense to a respectable level should more than offset Toubs loss
  9. @TheFFAddict: @Cardschatter @Mwanamatapa @RapSheet I've reported that Trestman is resigning in Montreal and becoming HC of the #Bears.
  10. i am sure the part where Anthony is trash talking the other way will be completely edited out
  11. Bulls fans couldnt have had two more extremes from the championships to post-championship era. It was truly the highest of highs and lowest of lows.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) Anyone aware of any connections between Marinelli and Trestman? I find it doubtful that Trestman would have his defensive coordinator be somebody that he doesn't know. Biggs actually talked about how it would be preferable for Trestman to keep Marinelli around to maintain the defense. It is why Marinelli is still under contract
  13. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 10:04 AM) Looks like Greg Roman will get the Jaguars job, with Alex Smith following him there thats right, I knew someone was connected there already
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 10:02 AM) Didn't it just open a couple days ago? It did, but the bears were requesting permission to interview candidates before Lovie was out the door. You would think the Jaguars would be bringing some people in as quickly as possible considering the position came open so much later than everyone else.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) And is the Jaguars job open? That is the one job I havent heard Lovie connected with. I suppose it is possible, but I havent heard anyone interviewing there yet
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) Did the Eagles hire someone? Biggs said this morning that the Eagles look like they are about to lock down Gus Bradley.

Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
  18. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 08:34 AM) With McCoy going to the Chargers, does that leave Lovie without a HC job? There is still Arizona
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 08:13 AM) First of all, we don't know exactly how much he admitted to Oprah. He may very well admit to having doped himself without admitting to the larger scheme. Secondly, I would think he discussed the legal ramifications with his attorneys before talking to Oprah so I doubt he's saying anything that could land him in jail. Im just responding to what Balta posted. If he indeed says that he ran a doping program, you have to think the feds are going to come a knocking
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 07:49 AM) Armstrong officially will admit running a drug program to Oprah. Sooooooo cant he be indicted for lying under oath now? There is a video on deadspin of him saying over and over that he never doped or ran a drug program, and there are a few parts where he is saying that under oath.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 08:02 AM) His dad was not really an effective player after age 32. I corrected my previous number, thought he was on an 8 year deal, checked and it was 9. Prince is signed through 36. And the Tigers are going to wind up with a couple of large-DH's by the last few years of that deal. Thats not really the point. The point is will Prince be effective? Considering Prince has done nothing but destroy MLB pitching since the moment he stepped into the league, and has remained reasonably healthy throughout his stay, I dont see why it is a foregone conclusion that he will just fall off. Also, I sincerely doubt his dad had/sought out access to the same kind of health treatment that Prince currently does. While I doubt that Prince is a vegetarian like he says he is, I dont doubt that he keeps himself in better condition than his Dad did. His dad in slow motion was like watching the homer simpson softball episode.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 07:59 AM) Prince is signed through his 15th year. Cecil played a few years in Japan. Lets keep arguing minor points its fun. Prince is gonna be a large DH, just like his dad

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 07:32 AM) His dad only played until he was 34 and his last full season was when he was 32. He played 13 years. Considering how big he was, that is pretty incredible.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 06:57 AM) Fielder will quickly turn into a stupid financial decision. His dad managed to have a pretty long and very good career carrying around the extra weight, I think Prince will be ok.
  25. extremely underwhelming 20th anniversary of RAW
