  1. Schwartz almost with an Icing the kicker fail
  2. It's a good thing Rob Ryan made it personal against the Browns. In general, the Ryan boys shouldnt really talk to the media about their teams
  3. When you first turn on your desktop/smartphone/laptop/tablet, what are the first three to five sites that you visit religiously? Every morning for me it is Soxtalk-ESPN-CNN-Chicago Tribune. And usually events I see in threads on Soxtalk spurs the order in which I bounce to the other three sites. But Soxtalk is always first, this site is amazing for picking up on events and happenings and starting threads.
  4. BLake Griffins game also in the ugly category. He gets it done but it ain't pretty
  5. Hell of a hit by Calabrese to cause that fumble, but it looked like he popped the runner on the chin. Close, not surprised it wasn't called
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) Not Loyola, Benedictine-Springfield. Hooray division 2 schools. I read the top line on saluki talk, it must be another sport going to Loyola
  7. SIU gets Dantiel Daniels back for Loyola today. baby steps. More like premie steps, but whatever
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) Bernstein became too much for me a few years ago. Sees he acts that way just to get a rise from people but starting to believe its really him. Getting there for me. My problem is espn is just a brutal alternative, the afternoon saloon makes me ill
  9. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) Fatty Cabrera's luck will run out eventually. Some day they'll figure out what he' s taking!! He is taking steaks and cakes, lots of them
  10. Did anyone hear the crosstalk between Spiegel and Bernstein today when Speigel called him a Cynical Snarky Jag for ripping on people for drawing motivation from the Pagano speech to the Colts? It's on the podcast on the website, good stuff.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) A player who has never produced less than a 1.5 WAR in a full season, and is coming off a 4.4 WAR season is going to make $7M a year, and that's a "bad contract". Well.....alrighty then. 8, 9, 10 the next three years. Year one was the cheapie, year 5 is 10 million with 2 million dollar buyout. And the guy has never actually played a full season either. the most he has played is 151, but he seems to average in the 130s. Not very reliable in the health or defense dept.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) To the Walking Dead comic book readers, I assume that the experiments that the Governors scientist is conducting are of the "cure my daughter" variety? Also, in the comic did the Governor lose his eye, or came in with the eye patch? bump
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) This was said about Bautista too. It's not an entirely impossible FB/HR to repeat or maintain, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him put up 30+ homers again next year. I don't think it's that bad of a contract. I think Bautista is more of an exception than a rule. And I am still not entirely convinced that man isnt juicing either, nobody has ever put up numbers like he has after being an incredibly mediocre players for 5 years of his career. Again, the guy is a 3rd base hack. But sure, he is worth 20 million last year. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) With "my equation"? Lol. I appreciate the credit, but that's not anything I put together. And he was still producing a 1.5+ WAR when he was playing 3B, btw. I know it isnt anything you put together, but you have been throwing it around as if it somehow is a good explanation for bad contracts.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 05:12 PM) Last year he was also worth 4.4 WAR, or about $20M. They aren't paying him to repeat 2012, they are paying him for about a 1.5 WAR, which he has done 5 times in his career prior to 2012 (only year he didn't was 2009 when he missed half the season). Gmafb with your "he was worth 20 million last year" equation for WAR. Last year far exceeded any season he ever played in the majors and he didn't even play the position you want him to play because he was so bad and Lawrie isn't. EE isn't worth that paper. Bottom line. And I would be pissed if the Sox were the one buying high because of last year
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) Jays OF: Bautista Davis Cabrera Encarnacion Lind Rasmus Gose It would be awesome to get Edwin Encarnacion from them to play 3B for us, despite him being a poor defensive 3B. They may see it as a "sell high" move, considering his monster 2012 season offensively, but I wouldn't count on it. How is that a sell high when they just gave him new paper, 5 years 35 million. I dont know that i would trust him to produce like he did last season and also put him at a position that he is very poor defensively for that money. Last year was an anomaly
  16. alright alright, lets chill on the fantasy league complaints from all.
  17. This game still could end up as back up against back up.
  18. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/kansas-...-to-deal-111512 just speculation
  19. Dobbins is sticking with his story that he hit Cutler in the chest, and it was Cutler in fact that ran into him. I guess he has to keep saying that to make sure the NFL doesnt go after him for a little bit more $ for headhunting. Pretty funny claim looking at the replay though

  21. @TheFakeESPN: Marlins clear salary to finance colossal golden middle finger sculpture at stadium entrance http://t.co/20KT1pHV
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Curt Schilling was just on ESPN talking about how the Marlins defrauded the city of Miami for their money. He is probably thinking that Loria is a schmuck, he only fooled a city while Schilling fooled a STATE!!!!
  23. Alright, so I first off want to apologize for contributing to derailing this thread into a racism argument, and I also I want to say my larger point here is that heros are not defined by race, which is what many here were saying. Im not going to respond to the above comment because I think the point he is making isnt really going with what he started with. Back to basketball, this can be split into the buster if anyone feels it is worth further discussion. PM me and i will move it.
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) Loria could be a complete douche but the Marlin fans did not show up when they won and had a terrible stadium he got a brand new stadium built spent a ton of dough on the team last year and they still did not show up. The Florida fans deserve whatever they get. They have two championships and zeero fan base. The state of Florida should not have professional sports. Transplant states like Arizona and Florida seem to have a lot of problems establishing their own fanbase. Lots of retirees and people who still identify with where they grew up before they moved to the warmer climates.
