You know, for someone who is so in love with Johnsons AAA numbers, you sure seem to overlook Viciedo's minor league numbers. The kid was a beast at every level. He took some time to adjust, and once he did he exploded.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 08:20 AM) Shouldn't these posts be in teal? I don't understand where all of this hyperbole on Viciedo comes from. Maybe in a couple of years, but seriously, you don't really think that his 17 extra base hits and sub .300 OBP are scaring opposing pitchers!! They have already found his weaknesses, are are exploiting them effectively. Until he learns to lay off bad pitches, and take walks, he will not be a good Major League hitter. Yeah, well, until Dan Johnson learns to not hit under .200, and to not suck at the major league level, he will stay at AAA.

something about her nose and eyebrows. It just bothers me. Nice body, but the face isnt doing it for me

Rizzo's stance reminds me of Olerud

I would rather Dayan DH and see Danks in left. I hope Sale destroys their lefthanded lineup today. I know Mauer hates hitting against him

I dont find AJ attractive. At all.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) Balta, how long before someone suggests Dunn get DFA'd? Ahem QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:13 AM) Who would you send down? Viciedo or Escobar? Or a pitcher? Or Adam Dunn? Can't send Dunn to minors, you would have to cut him (won't happen) or put him on the DL for 15 days. Escobar is back up SS, 2B, 3B, etc. Many think Viciedo has big time future with Sox. The way Dunn is (not) hitting, not a bad idea.

@jaysonst : Carlos Zambrano has made 4 starts since homering 6/3. #Marlins are 0-4, have been outscored 35-11 & Zambrano has given up 19 R in 16 IP. Oof

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 07:45 PM) If he's the owner, then it's pretty crazy to think my defense of Ozzie would elicit such a venomous response. All I'm doing is stating my defense of Ozzie. It's not like I'm starting threads saying Ozzie this and Ozzie that and I wish Ozzie was still here. You guys think Ozzie quit on the team whatever that means. I say the Sox didn't want him and he sped up the process by negotiating the final week or whenever. If the Sox wanted Ozzie Guillen and made it known they wanted Oz through thick and thin, he'd still be here. Also, who cares if he's playing on the internet before games instead of scouring advanced stats. What did Earl Weaver do back in the day w/no internet or Tommy Lasorda? They played grabass with the media I'm sure or played cards. Who cares? A manager brings the intangibles and semblance of strategy DURING games. There is no "if", greg. He IS the owner. And for as long as you have been a part of this site it is truly amazing that you don't know that.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) So why would anyone's speculation be better than someone who is paid to do it for a living and has sources throughout the game? It's an educated guess, that's all. I lived in Kansas City and followed Greinke from the very beginning, was there when he had his breakdown/social anxiety diagnosis, when he famously remarked about walking away from the game because he'd prefer to be out mowing lawns in So Cal with his headphones on. Does that mean I know more than someone who lives in Chicago or have some unique insight? Just don't see him agreeing on an extension. Garcia was a rare exception. More importantly, with the Danks situation, and even Dunn struggling again...those huge long-term contracts for pitchers just don't look so attractive. Too many teams have been burned by them. How long until the Marlins are dumping Buehrle for 50-75 cents on the dollar? You can make the argument we're finally seeing a "fair" ROI on the Peavy deal, but it hasn't been until Year 4. And we still won't have anything to show for it when he's gone. This and everything else you are saying is a far cry from a zero chance. And how can you even begin to predict that we will have nothing to show for it when he is gone?

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) Shaky ground? Sure, they threatened to move...but that was a loooooong time ago. They aren't going anywhere...that horse has sailed. And yes, no matter what, they are still in the third largest market in the country and there are enough 1%ers that think owning a team is tantamount to wealth. Moving the stadium...again, that horse has sailed. They had their chance with the McPier group and it didn't work. Where else would it go? Suburbs? The better option is to try to make that area better...and it's happening slowly with the Cork and Kerry and the new bar on premise taht I can't remember the name of now. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) who got knocked out, me or chisox? it seems to me he snapped and will prolly be headed to the penalty box. It would be interesting to see if the site owner would ban himself. I will file this under "greg775 predictions" behind: Ozzie will win lots of world series Ozzie will win NL manager of the year in 2012 Ozzie will get a manager job as soon as he is fired from the Marlins.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Greg...I don't make personal attacks, but you are the stupidest person in the history of the internet. I can't even fathom this and its posts like this that really prove the fact that you are either (a) that stupid or (b) the biggest troll in the history of Soxtalk. *open mouth dumbfounded stare*

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) Even for only 3 months? Wouldn't that then give you an excuse to fire KW, for losing both Hudson and Viciedo for rentals? Then what? Bring back Carlos Quentin at $12 million for one season, and give up better prospects to get him back? Once again, there's ZERO CHANCE IN HADES Greinke will commit to a long-term extension and forgo free agency. That ship isn't going to sail. With Ozzie as manager, that might have been one of his only positive influences, getting Freddy Garcia to agree to stay longer term after the 2004 trade. How do you know that? Just because he doesnt want to extend with a team like the Brewers who arent in a position to contend for a few seasons doesnt mean he wont extend elsewhere. Greinke isnt really the free agency diva

I dont even think Johnson is the first callup for Konerko. I think Jackson is

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) Its certainly worth a shot in a write off year, if he comes back effective then its an upgrade...kinda like the sox getting Youk. A lot of people want the MLE used on a PG but they can just hold onto CJ and Lucus or use 29 on a PG. You mean Tyreke Evans right?? semi kidding. Should be fully kidding. Tyreke isnt the next MVP or better than Rose

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) How many backup 2b's do you need? at the same time, we already have 3 players that can play 1st, why do we need another? Im not really comfortable platooning Johnson at 3rd and maybe the outfield

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) How is that...how can...really? his last 3 seasons at the major league level have been .236/.349/.768 .198/.343/.757 .119/.187/.389 And this is skipping his equally miserable 2008 where he only got 11 at bats. Definition of a AAAA player. Im sticking with Dayan
