  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 07:51 AM) I love Viciedo, and I'm very excited about what he might become. However, if the Sox are really trying to make it to the Post Season this year, why isn't Dan Johnson a better fit for this team, for the rest of this season? Viciedo is still very young, and still learning. He has not learned to take pitches well enough to maintain a respectable OBP. He has never put up the kinds of numbers that Johnson is putting up against RHP. Johnson has been a monster vs. righties. This team could still benefit tremendously from better balance in the lineup. Youklis adds yet another right handed bat, but Dunn has begun to revert back to his inability to do much more than hit the long ball. His strike outs are still far too high to make him the consistent left handed bat that this lineup could use. A. J. has had a great first half, but his power numbers are likely to come back to his historical level. Johnson could provide another solid left handed bat vs. righties, and he provides both power and OBP. At least for this season, Johnson would seem to be a better option in LF than Viciedo. The OBP at the bottom of the current order consisting of Viciedo, Ramirez and Beckham is just dreadful. I'd go with something like this vs. RHP: CF de Aza 3B Youklis 1B Konerko DH Dunn RF Rios LF Johnson SS Ramirez C A. J. 2B Beckham In AAA. The end.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) He was Sox closer for years. How many years do you think Reed will be the Sox closer? These guys have short lives on the mound. Look at Soria. You break down as a closer. what is your point here? Jenks fell apart. He may have been closer for "years", but he really was only successful the first 2 years. the last 2 he was a ticking time bomb. What do Soria and Reed have to do with it? Soria was closer for "years" too
  3. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) Why did we trade Sergio Santos? That guy was getting fools out left and right last year pretty much all year long. Santos faded hardcore. He started out on fire, then started getting hit around. And he is injured. So there is that
  4. QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) It was good seeing Psycho Sid tonight, he used to be my favorite back in the day.. I dont understand why they took Laurinitis off the show, I thought he was great. Makes no sense to me. And man, that TNA crap is awful. How did your brothers tryout go?
  5. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Yep. TNA has everything in place to make a run at Vince - Daddy's money, a cable network that still seems happy with them, and enough talent to fill a show. What they DON'T have is a game plan. They bring in useless crap-sacks like Hogan and Bischoff and place way too much trust in them. They need to completely revamp their front office and bring in some decent wrestling minds if they ever really expect to challenge Vince. I'd have given Heyman complete control of the book. I don't think he's a "genius", but I do think he knows the business and knows how to help bring the best out of talent. Truth be told, though, I don't think anyone will ever knock Vince off, just because of brand recognition - you think wrestling [or "sports entertainment"] and you think WWE. Sometimes I wonder if TNA simply wants to be a quiet #2 so Vince doesn't wake up and try to crush them. I don't expect anyone to knock Vince off, just make him work a little bit. That's all.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Stupid Cubs bringing up Rizzo probably just to kill what little media attention the Sox have received by trading for Youk. How very Cub-like of them :/ Yeah it probably has nothing to do with the fact that they have been talking about bringing him up for over a month, and just wanted to wait to make sure that extra year of control.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) Sorry for the typos in my previous post banned
  8. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2512908.story Always had a feeling he was a juicer. Just a sad thing to see to a nice guy struggling with the end up his career. This same guy has had a working relationship with Victor Conte all the way through this season. I dont care how nice he is, he has been getting his "supplements" from Balco ground zero. It was only a matter of time
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) And this is why the Bulls will never, ever win a championship. except for the 6 they already won LOL and before you get uber defensive, I know what you mean. You just typed it funny
  10. Thats nice but this doesnt belong here. Off to Diamond club
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) I miss the Metrodome and Hawk's constant blaming the stadium for the Sox playing poorly against the Twins. He never really blamed it. He just knew as soon as the Sox stepped foot in the building, they would lose. And he was right 95 percent of the time.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Rizzo is being made out to be the second coming. Every scouting report I read about the guy said he has a chance to be Adam LaRoche. Not a bad player, but not a top breaking news story that he's being called up. Thats because he has been the top prospect for both the cubs and red sox
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) Where is our Liriano? Our tommy-johned maddeningly inconsistent starters never stick around long
  14. Eh, I don't think Ozzie would ever throw his wife and kids under the bus, Caulfield. That is one thing he is always consistent with, his family. Obviously, with what Oney got away with
  15. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) Something to do with the jersey vendors. I think that you can only do this in the offseason now. See, I highly doubt jersey vendors are going to say anything about Jordan Danks. He has been up for like 3 weeks, I dont think they have his jersey in high demand at this point.
  16. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) I realize that it used to, but I thought that they made a rule against doing that this year? Do you have to be in the league for so long first? I dont know about that. I guess if Danks was the one asking for the number maybe there would be something against it(although I dont know why), but Youkilis is asking for Danks #20
  17. Yeah it wouldnt be the first time we got all crazy around the draft only to see the Bulls pull back and go status quo
  18. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) I thought that this was illegal? No, it happens fairly often
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) At this point you can believe what you want, if you think that Rose playing 39-40 minutes even after injury didnt contribute to his injury battles this season, that is your opinion. Here let me do a soxbadger "where did I say Rose playing 39-40 minutes even after injury didnt contribute to his injuries?" I didnt say that. i keep telling you and showing you that THIBS WAS CAREFUL WITH HIS MINUTES AND ONLY USED HIM FOR EXTENSIVE MINUTES WHEN HE HAD TO! MOST OF THE TIME HE WAS PLAYING RIGHT AROUND 35 MINUTES Cite all you want. You are wrong about Thibs usage of Rose.
  20. My buddy said rumor on realgm is 3 way with Utah and GS. GS gets Deng, Utah gets Beidrins and picks(presumably Bulls this year and future plus from GS), Bulls get Dorell Wright, 7th pick and Devin Harris
  21. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) It would be almost impossible for him to keep up his current pace, but wow, has he been impressive. One concern I have is his next start. Wouldn't that be in the Yankee series this weekend? Maybe he has some extra nerves due to facing his former team, wanting to show them that they made a mistake. On the other hand, maybe he really does show his former team something. I have yet to see proof that Quintana has any nerves.
  22. F*** the Twins. In their ballpark. The beginning of the Youk era, tonite.
  23. QUOTE (BFirebird @ May 25, 2012 -> 12:09 AM) Going to the game tonight. Intrigued by watching Quintana pitch. Anyone have a scouting report on him? QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 25, 2012 -> 12:46 AM) From what I have read he is of dragon and mayan god descent. His fastball has been known to literally start on fire and destroy bats, and his curveball will occasionally turn into green mist that will render a batter unconscious. KW put him on the roster out of pure fear. Hope this helps LOL, my scouting report
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:38 AM) Who cares if he negotiated at the end of a horrific season? Coop also negotiated behind Ozzie's back. Why is Ozzie the one villain on a team full of villains last year. KW is no saint. Coop was a snake. So what if Ozzie was talking to Miami. Most of you wanted him gone, he sped up that process. It's not like our team was doing anything. It just disproves your previous point that Ozzie bleeds White Sox red, thats all. You are just talking in circles. Ozzie is a selfish prick that has no team in his heart but Team Guillen, you just wont admit it because he did the most amazing thing ever and was part of a world series team. Pablo Ozuna is possibly the greatest bench player in the history of bench players for this very same reason.
  25. I don't even remember what my scouting report said but I know it was pretty ridiculous
