QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Steroids is a whole different ballgame than uppers. They are being treated totally differently. My issue is this, who is to say there werent steroids? Hell, we know Jose Canseco was all into them in the 80s, so how many players in the 80s were messing with them? We dont know, thats my problem with all of this. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 08:45 AM) It's going to take a long time, but I think they'll eventually have to radically change the voting process for the Hall. I think rational people know that players like Clemens and Bonds were greats of their era with or without steroids. While McGwire and Sosa accumulated their numbers mostly because of steroids. The question is, do players like Bonds and Clemens deserve to be given the highest honor even though MLB pretty much endorsed steroid use for more than a decade? I dont agree with this. There have been stories of players in the 60s-70s-80s using greenies and amphetimines and all kinds of crap to get an edge. Hell, the Doc Gooden mets was one big 8 ball. Clemens and Bonds probably both will get in, I dont like it, but they will -

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 11:03 PM) Although the name "Icarus" was never used in any of the original movies, yes, that was the name that was later given to the ship in franchise merchandise like toys and comic book treatments. Absolutely, the tv snippet of the spaceship expedition and the "Lost in Space?" newspaper headlines are setting up the Astronaut Taylor storyline very nicely. I loved the original 1968 film. I didn't hate the Burton reboot as much as most people did, but obviously that was going to be a one shot deal. I really like what has been done so far in the new franchise with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and I think the screenwriters have done a good job tying together the plot elements of the original "Conquest of. . ." and "Battle for. . ." Apes films while avoiding the flimsy time paradoxes of the original series. At the same time, having Caesar be a chemically created super ape, as opposed to being the offspring of Cornelius and Zera sent back in time, is kind of a letdown for the lifelong fans of the cheesy original franchise like me. Yeah, but it is a reboot. Cant do everything the same.

I love Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It has been on HBO a lot lately and every opportunity I get I watch it. Just out of curiosity, in the original is Charlton Hestons ship named the Icarus? I noticed towards the end of RotPotA, they show the ship taking off and tv, and then when the apes escape and they go through the neighborhood where the kids are delivering newspapers, the headline on the newspaper is "Lost in Space?". I am very much looking forward to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) Great. So what are you using the 4 open 40 man spots for? Otherwise it would be insane to DFA a guy who has options left. it is insane to dfa a guy who is giving you nothing and with every pitch looks like he has less and less of a future with any big league team? Your mancrush on him is irrational at this point. Face it, he sucks. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) Clemens is in no way a lock for the HOF due to the possible roiding It certainly stains his reputation, but I think he will get in. Maybe not first ballot, but he will get in -

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) Sucks, but not unexpected. Govt. rarely wins high profile cases against high-priced private attorneys. He's still guilty as sin, and most in the BWAA will see it that way. doubtful -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) Does anyone actually know when to expect Rose back? I remember when they were saying a January return. If we destroy the team and he comes back with 30-40 games remaining, the fans will revolt They said that his injury could take anywhere from 8-12 months to heal, and even then who knows when he actually will trust the knee. They need to build the team as if he isnt coming back next season, and if he does it is all gravy. I dont expect him to come back in January at all

Pettite admitted he did HGH, got away with it, then got Clemens off scott free. -
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) So, we thought our 6 month old pup was pretty much house trained. Got her at the end of March; her last house accident was probably the begging of May. We recently allowed her to go into the basement, but only when we are with her. Unfortunately, she will relieve herself in the basement. Is it that she doesn't think it's part of the house? My dogs had problems with that too when i lived in Carbondale. I think the concrete smells like dirt or something

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) Target Field vs. Oakland Colosseum? How terrible one-sided, that match-up isn't even close. New Yankee Stadium vs Old Milwaukee County Stadium would have been a close one

Yea those back to back 3 pointer fouls were absolutely killer, really stupid. That was the momentum swing

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) Can't really say what should have been done at this point...have to wait and see how it plays out over the next several years. Obviously,to this point, what you are saying is correct. I hope I'm wrong, I want him to win a lot of games for the Sox. I just don't know if Danks has another gear in him.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) I obviously disagree, but I can see where you are coming from. However, that still doesn't mean Mark is worth a 4 year, $58 million contract at age 33. You are right, he isn't worth that much. I think he was worth negotiating with though, and I don't think Danks was. Danks should have been moved.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Do you think Buehrle will be a better pitcher in 2014 & 2015? Danks did have a lower ERA in 2008, 2009, & 2010 as well. I do. I think Buehrle will be an effective pitcher as long as he wants to play. He is a soft tossing lefty, it isn't as if he lost an upper 90s fastball and has to reinvent himself. I'm sick of watching Danks. Everytime he is staked to a lead he coughs it up. I used to think he was going to be something special, but the past 2 1/2 seasons he has managed to change my mind.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) "But.... but he's fan favorite and such a nice guy! Who cares about money?!? Pay him $100 million! Whatever it takes...!" You know this is twice you have said this about me. I didn't say anything like this. I believe Buehrle is and will remain the better pitcher. If you don't, that's fine. Greg, you saying I tend to whine sometimes is incredibly hilarious.
