QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) I agree but the bothersome thing is WE continue this speculation and the under valuing of our own players. For one thing I don't believe Floyd will go anywhere this season as we seeing our own problems with starting pitching suffering injuries. If we are going to compete we need major league picthers and Floyd is one. I don't see us competing with stop gap replacements from the minors. Quintana has worked out but Stewart and Axelrod have struggled. Matt Thonton is a quality left handed relief pitcher. He might be trade bait but not for Youklis. I see is a story that the Sox are looking for pitching too. Maybe we will take a chance on Jamie Moyer? We don't trade anyone and we get a professional lefty starter probably still able to be effective for 5 or 6 innings. ElrockinMT, I admire your love for the players on the team, but I believe you overvalue them as much as many undervalue them. Crede and Quentin case in point. Sometimes you have to sell high. We didnt do that with Quentin and the return we got was less than satisfactory.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:17 AM) Why is Floyd and Thonton et al continually being speculated on when we talk Youklis. If either of those two went in a trade to Boston for a broken down 3Bman on his last year it would border on highway robbery by Boston. Youk may help us for sure but only for this season and Thornton and Floyd have many good years left. I am not arguing that either may be trade bait but not for a short term fix at 3B and an injury prone fellow at that. IKf we do trade for Youklis it will be contingent on picking up X amount of his salary and/or minor leage prospect (s) Youkilis doesnt have much trade value left after the past season dating back to last July. I am sure the Red Sox are trying to get major league talent, because it is their right to ask for the best players possible, but at the same time it doesnt mean either of those players will be moved for Youk

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) Boston is stupid to allow him to play today anything can happen. let them be stupid.

Lets get a little momentum going White Sox. I dont know who this Fiers guy is, but I am sure sunofgold will have all kinds of bad nicknames and catchphrases for him throughout the game, so hopefully he gets shelled quickly so I dont have to sit through it for long.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 09:55 AM) Boston better pray Youk's back does not mysteriously flair up today. Why? If that is going to happen you want it to happen before a trade is made

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) I like the black. Good guys wear black. I still remember that slogan from the 90's. That was a good slogan. The words of House Reinsdorf...good guys wear black. House Reinsdorf had some special uniforms in the 80s that did not contain very much black

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) What does it matter? He shouldnt have been playing that many minutes coming right off injury, worrying about winning regular season games and not resting Rose was short sighted and exactly what Im arguing against. Because my point was he wasnt playing high minutes unless necessary. If the games were tight and they needed him, he was in. If they werent, he sat. Plus, Thibs always would start games with Rose, then put the entire bench mob in to start the second quarter. If the bench mob extended the lead, Rose would be eased in midway through the second quarter. Im arguing that his minute usage was a direct result of the type of game they played. He rested Rose when he could. And it matters because all you keep pointing to is his minutes usage, nothing else. Your guy Rivers ran Paul Pierce out for the entire end of the season run on a bum leg, because he needed him. Thibs played Rose with caution after the injuries started Lets take a look, shall we? First game back from first injury absence Boston, minutes 39:19, final score 88-79. The Bulls let a 20 point halftime lead dwindle to 1 point, Derrick had to take over, game won. Toronto, minutes 41:28, Final Score 77-64. Bulls were up 4 points going into the 4th quarter, at home, and Rose had to come in and save the day again. Then he sat out 4 games due to the turf toe issue again NJ Nets, minutes 36:19, final score 110-95. So basically Derrick sat out most of the 4th quarter. Next game, they LOST 90-95 to the Pacers, and Derrick only played 38 minutes. So even in a loss Thibs didnt push him to come back out and play. Milwaukee, Final score 107-100, minutes 37:17, again, Derrick sitting out what would be most of an entire quarter Heat, lost 93-97, minutes 44:33. Derrick missed a few free throws at the end in a crucial game against the eventual NBA champions Wizards, Final score 98-88, minutes 40:53. So Derrick basically takes off a little over half of a quarter in a home win. Philadelphia, lost 82-98, minutes 31:04. In a blowout loss, Thibs lets him sit down and rest. Strange. Knicks, final score 105-102, minutes 39:04. Huge game against the resurgent Knicks, the Bulls pull it off in the garden. Im not going to continue to show it to you, because it is obvious the pattern that Thibs used with Rose and all of his injuries this season, just look at his minute log and the final score. Thibs used him for long minutes only when he had to, and when he didnt, Thibs sat him down and let him rest.

Well, with Cook being brought up that pretty much confirms that the Red Sox aren't asking for Major League players in return.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:55 AM) That is not really true. Rose's injuries started in January. When he returned he played 36, 38, 37, 45, 41, 31, 40, 31 and then he starts to get injured again, 11, 22. So he misses another 5 games, when he comes back does he play 25-30 minutes to take it easy? No, he plays 35 minutes the first game. Then it goes 30, 41, 35, 28, 42, 29, 39, 36, 35, 43, and he is then out another 12 games. At this point youd really expect his first game back would be light work, but he plays 39 minutes and then has to miss the next game. After that the Bulls take it easy, he plays 25 minutes. The problem is the next game he once again plays 41 minutes and then has to sit again for another 3 games. He comes back and plays 32 minutes and the final game 27. So your comment isnt really born out by the stats. Rose mpgs drop because a few games he played less than 25 minutes, but they were an aberration. It wasnt that after Rose got hurt early, he never played 35 minutes again. In fact he consistently kept playing 35+ minutes. There were just a few games where he played under 20 minutes and a handful of under 30. In fact of his last 6 games, 3 were at least 39 minutes, and after every 38+ minute game he didnt play at least the next one. The facts are Rose averaged the most minutes per game in Jan, when he was already experiencing injuries, and he only averaged a minute less in March after he had missed ten games. I do not agree with how Rose was handled at all. Badger, what was the score of the games where he played 35+ minutes. And what was the score when he played less.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) lol at this point I think bucket-of-suck is our best resource by quite a bit Rogers is seriously one of the laziest reporters I have read in a long time. Even on CTL, he comes off as unprepared and just throwing s*** at the wall. On "Who you crappin" someone got "Crap of the Week" for his MLB Draft predictions:

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) A hole that can be patched with Youk at third. Finding a LF'er would be a small additional cost to pay for acquiring Greinke. Greinke makes the rotation a potential championship one, imo. I just dont believe finding a LFer is easy as you think it is, thats all. I like Danks, but I am certainly not ready for that. And knowing that Lillibridge is waiting behind him bothers me

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) I still think Josh Fields would help, and he would not cost much if anything. Sox should not be hung up on defensive shortcomings from 3-4 yrs ago. At least scout him to see if he has improved. At least he can hit more than a little bit. Why do you keep thinking the guy can hit? He was MISERABLE at the plate with multiple teams. He strikes out too much for a lineup already containing Dunn. Then you add his bad defense? f*** that, i would rather stick with hudson, at least that guy has a track record of hitting
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) Greinke might get you a World Series. Next 5 years of Viciedo they might not win a division. Impossible to tell either way. Trading for Greinke strengthens an already good rotation, but creates a hole in an already questionable lineup.
-
We have seen the good and the bad with Viciedo this season. When he is good, this offense is a wrecking ball. When he is bad, you have to hope that Konerko and Dunn are carrying their weight, which isnt all that bad. Right now I think the Sox are suffering because clearly Konerko isnt right with his wrist yet, and Dunn is suffering because of it. When Konerko was on fire, Dunn was benefiting, and it carried through the lineup. I think trading Viciedo for Greinke would be pretty short sighted at this point. KW has to see what Viciedo can do through a season before he goes and trades him for a rental starter.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) The very definition of "no one cares": Love the "what?" chants, though. I wish there was something that could make Vince work hard. But there is nothing. And this is why we get retread storylines in WWE, and old wrestlers are brought back for events. He doesnt have to try hard because of TNA

If Greinke magically made his way here this season, the top 3 would be absolutely filthy. Then you have a mix of Humber, Quintana, Floyd and Danks rounding it out. That would be something else
-
Time to get this thing back on track and start to win some series. Come on Axelrod, lets see a good performance here lets go White Sox!

A white flag trade would be a terrible move. If you think the attendance issues are bad now, a white flag trade would hamstring this club for the next 4 seasons.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 01:20 AM) Because Deng has a wrist injury that he played through all season, so youd expect hed get some extra rest. Rose is carrying the same load per game. I was only referring to per game as the point was even when Rose was coming back from injuries, he still basically played a ton of minutes, never really getting fully healthy. You are looking at Rose's minutes in a vacuum. After his injuries started, his minutes dropped dramatically when he would come back. Sure, for the first half of the season before the toe injury Thibs was riding him hard. But when he started piling up injuries, if the Bulls were up big Rose did not play in the 4th quarter if the bench mob could hold the lead. If the Bulls were up big and the bench mob lost the lead, Rose only came back when needed.
