20/7 (or 7/20): White Sox @ Detroit... IT'S ON!!!!
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) You pick out my post to use as an example of negativity when Caesar and that other guy were proclaiming the game over for the second night in a row before the fifth inning? I'm the optimist of all time compared to them. Didnt you just ask why someone isnt putting up a "Peavy is not an Ace" thread like the Buehrle threads from like 2004? And you accuse me of picking out negative posts? At least im picking out one that just happened, not one from 8 years ago

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) I hate that Chen guy. They did kind of beat Chen up this season though. So there is that

20/7 (or 7/20): White Sox @ Detroit... IT'S ON!!!!
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Sox got the 2 runs and then suddenly Detroit woke up and dominated. Bad game. I'm surprised nobody has started a thread, "Peavy is not an ace." like all the Buehlre is not an ace threads of the past. 3-5 road trip; worst trip in a while. Man, you would think we just faced the best pitcher in the AL. Oh, wait

White Sox/Tigers head to head, who do you take?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) That was kind of the point of this thread. If you think of it as 3 superstars against the White Sox, it seems pretty lopsided. Fortunately, baseball is a team game and Chris Sale would be a superstar if he played for a different team. Chris Sale IS a superstar. His body of this work this season speaks for itself, not the name on the front of the jersey.

Dempster to Rangers
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:55 AM) Details. Kenny can be quite the salesman when he wants. Just ask Jake Peavy. Yea but Peavy was getting paid no matter what. If Dempster leaves the NL, and totally gets lit up in the AL, he is affecting his paycheck next season and beyond.

Dempster to Rangers
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) Hmmm I wonder who? Now that Boston is out and if LA and the Cubs cant find a common ground.. hmmm... are you guys thinking what im thinking? Braves were said to be pretty aggressive. Dempster doesnt want to leave the NL, and he has veto rights

The Avengers/Marvel Comics thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) I agree with the sentiments that it'll be hard to pull off, but if the following happens I can see it succeeding. 1) Thor: DW and Captain America: WS lead into it somewhat. Maybe Captain America through a post credits. 2) Go with some well known actors for the leads. Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are fantastic actors, but a bigger name is need for GotG. 3) Iron Man 3, Captain America: WS, and Thor: DW all need to have great receptions, so Marvel can ride the wave of popularity. Highly doubtful that Cap is leaving earth. The tie-in will be at thor, and probably nothing else but Avengers 2

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
To me, you leave Thornton in to lose or win that game, or you start Reed in the 9th. Reed gave up a bomb, but Thornton made that mess.

19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
One day, managers will realize that you never put in Thornton in the 9th. One day

The Avengers/Marvel Comics thread
There is a high probability that GotG is a flop, at least by Marvel standards. At best it will probably be A cult favorite. It is a very strange property, it doesn't relate to earth at all, the characters are very strange and will be hard to adapt to the semi-realism that Marvel is trying to put into the series. Hopefully it is a fun action movie, but it will be difficult.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) •Agent Scott Boras said Stephen Strasburg the pitcher is worth $30MM per season “in free agent value.” Ostensibly, Boras was commenting on the Nationals’ decision to cap the right-hander’s innings, but it’s interesting to see how Boras values Strasburg. In case you’re wondering, the Nationals control his rights through 2016. So it looks like Boras wants Strasburg in Yankee pinstripes

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Seriously? Please go ahead and roll off three random obscure White Sox names. Go ahead. If it will make you feel better, by all means, go ahead. I will defer to the master of that

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:55 AM) The yahoo standings gives you last 10 record if you don't want too count. I was looking for last 18 or 23. Nobody seems to have that

The Pierre-Viciedo Debate
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Fair enough. For the record, I don't understand why I'm being singled out in keeping this discussion going (for responding to posts) though. Especially when some of those posts included insults directed at me. Being dealt with, now.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) Weren't you the one that said the Tigers were 7-3 in the last 10, when they'll clearly 8-2, and 9-2 over the last 11? I think that was his point. I miscounted flipping back and forth from the 1st and second half on the ESPN page, i admit that. But Caulfield loves his 11 game game counts
