QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) Sure...but do I want the Jacksonville or Rams job instead? I dunno...I don't think so. Jacksonville could be LA in a few years, that job could easily become a very desirable position. Rams I will give you, but Fisher seems to want the coach job pretty bad so he must see something he likes. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) Really? I just don't believe this whatsoever. If I am an up and coming NFL FO employee, I see a charter organization that is relatively well run financially, has a top 10 qb in the prime of his career, an incredible fanbase, and an aging, but talented defense. Oh, and Matt Forte (as much as I still believe he is overrated). I see a successful, soft-spoken head coach that's allowed his offense to be handled by a gimmicky OC, a run-first conservative OC, and Mike freaking Martz. I don't get the hesitancy to work with Lovie. He seems open to anything that will produce victories on the football field. Maybe I'm wrong though... The GMs hands are tied at this point if he sees anything staff-wise that he wants to change. Any GM coming in basically has the job of filling out the personnel on the team and that's it. If you get your first GM gig, you don't want to be able to pick out some of your own coaching staff? -

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) The more I read the more it seems like Ruskell may end up just getting promoted to GM. And that is extremely depressing and frustrating. After hearing Brad Biggs on Mully and Hanley this morning, I texted the exact same thing to my buddy. And really, the bears painted themselves into a corner with this exact scenario by declaring Lovie untouchable and also promoting Tice to OC and planning to hire a QB coach/passing game coordinator this week. Basically the Bears have told any incoming GM, "we are giving Lovie this year to win, if he doesnt he is gone". What is the point in putting your name on that mess right now? Just let whatever happens, happen. If the Bears fall off a cliff, then the entire front office through the coaching staff are canned and someone gets to come in to do whatever they want. Or, Ruskell comes in, does a good job patching holes, and the Bears compete and everyone gets extended. Either way, Ted Phillips made a horrible decision and told the world about it when he said Lovie was staying and now the Bears job is not very desirable considering the circumstances and the alternatives. It is a GM job, so it is desirable and will be filled, but probably not in the way we fans think it should be. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Well, this thread is going down the drain. Filibuster. no s***. Move this "Tebow only starts because of his religion" nonsense to the buster if you guys want to do your old beat your heads against the wall bit -
Should the Sox consider Dunn for Soriano?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) And then we'll have a $40 million nightmare and clubhouse cancer on our hands, like Milton Bradley. No thanks. I think Rios will have a nice rebound with some positive reaffirmation/support from basically what will amount to a new coaching staff. That tends to have a huge effect on most rosters, at least in ST and the first half of the season. Sustaining it all the way through September, that's another question altogether. But look how far the Broncos have ridden Tebow against all odds, with all the critics in the world ready to pounce after any slip-ups. If the AXIS OF UNDERPERFORMING FOUR all play well, odds are at least 50/50 that should put us on the cusp of contention. Then we can start talking about unloading their contracts. But sitting on the bench collecting dust and cobwebs, forget about it. I really dont see how this connects to your previous point at all. Not even close to the same thing -
QUOTE (That funky motion @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 10:55 PM) House of Lies was pretty damn good!! Agreed, I like Cheadles character a lot. And I want to see Kristen Bell get naked

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) Ridiculous that cities have laws like this...especially some of the more progressive cities like Denver. Lots of underground dogfighting rings ruined it for everyone else.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 04:04 AM) Me and my boy brought home 2 girls from a bar tonight. We were chillin, f***in around having a good time (me and said buddy tryin to get it in), and one throws up all over the place in the bathroom and her girl had to take her home. Ruined the whole night. Typing this with my buzz gone too. Sounds like a Deadspin "Cockblocked by....." story

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) Umm, for a 2nd round pick, I think he's done quite well. He's also 23 years old. Shhhh, J4L is just admitting that his earlier predictions of greatness for DeAndre were a little ahead of schedule

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 7, 2012 -> 07:47 AM) Both the guys you wanted for GM are gone. Who's next? I thought they were talking to someone from the Falcons, maybe. Les Snead is the guy from the Falcons. Other choices are Washington director of player personnel Morocco Brown who worked in the Bears FO from 01-08, Steve Keim(same job title) from Arizona, Jimmy Raye Jr., San Diego Chargers director of player personnel; Marc Ross, New York Giants director of college scouting; Ray Farmer, Kansas City Chiefs director of pro personnel; Lake Dawson, Tennessee Titans vice president of football operations; Will Lewis, Seattle Seahawks vice president of pro personnel; Louis Reddick, Philadelphia Eagles director of pro personnel; and Sheldon White, Detroit Lions vice president of pro personnel. -
Guys, drunk thread. Come on now. Lets tease J4Ls taco bell infused whiskey intake and talk about getting drunk.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) Pffff. Only to morons who can't smell a starf***er when it's right under their nose. Listen, when the girl's argument is she "passed out" presumably from being wasted, it's hard to believe Castro would just get on top and start banging her. She was into it, and realized there's a good chance for cash. See Milkman? the court of public opinion goes both ways

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 08:31 AM) Hoyer sounds a lot like Hahn. He does the leg work. I started to write something to that effect, but took it out. I agree with that though. President=GM and GM=Asst GM in the Cubs universe right now

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 08:06 AM) Can they really do that, if the deal is entirely dependent on Howard's willingness to sign an extension? I think at the deadline Orlando will be looking to movie Howard for value, any value. A team like say, the Bulls, could say "Look, if you want to deal with us we can give you a great deal if he resigns with us(Deng/Noah/Charlottes pick/Bulls #1) or we can give you a lesser deal that is still quite valuable if he isnt willing to sign and that team(Bulls/Knicks/Warriors/whoever) can take the risk of acquiring him and making a title run and hoping to convince him to stay. I think the longer this drags out and the more DH says it is unlikely to sign an extension, the less valuable the deal gets for Orlando so they will want to figure out who gives them the best deal, Adidas be damned. If this league honestly gets to the point where shoe companies are dictating where players play, I really think my interest level will drop significantly.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 08:20 AM) Is there another franchise in MLB where the GM is as powerless & non-existent as on the north side? Yesterday on CSN the reporter said "Theo Epstein traded Zambrano to Miami. We got him on the phone to ask him about his move." Isn't that the GM's job, not the presidents? I haven't read about a move yet this winter that has included Hoyer's name, every move has been made by Theo. Honestly, we know who is making the moves there. Theo was the hire, not Hoyer. Theo is going to be making all of the PR rounds for everything, he will be the face, the beneficiary of praise, and the fall guy if it fails. Hoyer will be his right hand man just like he was in Boston, and Theo will continue to be the genius rockstar It is unfair to say Hoyer is powerless as we dont know what role he plays in the heirarchy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) Apparently Jay Cutler made a trip up to Halas Hall to tell Lovie and the team to fire Martz. So obviously Jay doesnt mind a new OC and learning a new offense -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) Trouble is, different reports have said that Adidas doesn't want Rose and Howard in the same city since that would hurt their marketing in every other major market. At this point Orlando probably has to say f*** Adidas if they went the best deal for Howard. LOL @ the Knicks being players again in this. And Tyson Chandler as a main chip? WTF ever. Too many people bought into the Chandler hype last season and forget about every season prior. Really good defensive player, extremely limited offensive player. Not elite.

Another White Sox / Blue Jays trade on the horizon?
Kyyle23 replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Remember the 2011 trade deadline when @Mrfantasyexpert tweeted that the Brewers traded for Alex Rios and people were saying "It must be true, why would a guy pick Alex Rios of all people and run with it?" I kind of feel the same way about this. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) I've been wondering for a while now why everyone hates Martz so much. Until Cutler went down this was the best Bears offense of my lifetime. Kramer, Conway and Graham were pretty fun to watch -
So Atlanta is playing three in a row againt Heat-Bulls-Heat? Those schedule makers were just mean to Atlanta
