QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) I love that song. I heart TOOL

Ticks and leeches freak me out. Mostly ticks, you usually cant feel them until they already are doing their damage. Chiggers/No see-ums are pretty irritating and annoying too

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) But wouldn't we have said the same thing about Linebrink back in 2008. Crain has had a really good two year run...better than he's ever been before. But I still don't think we need both Crain AND Frasor. It's a luxury we probably won't be able to afford unless we win the division this year. Sure, I'd keep both of them and get rid of Wil Ohman. You'd rather have 2 quality relievers than 5-6 Ohmans paid half that amount. Yes I would have. Crain has had a far longer record of success, and Linebrink was up and down before the Sox signed him. Crain is affordable and the Sox like him. YOU may not like him, but I wouldnt set your heart on watching him walk out the door, because it is pretty unlikely, at least for this year and next.
-
Caulfield, I think you need to accept the fact that Crain is not going anywhere.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) His struggles this year haven't been about velocity, they've been some combination of control and simple "Hittability". Dude used to be lights out when he'd get 2 strikes on a guy. Santos-level lights out. Then this year, all of a sudden, he couldn't put anyone away with 2 strikes. I agree with this. But he hasnt lost the heat, it is still there. To me, its the location. He isnt spotting the fastball inside on righthanders, so they are just waiting on the meatball down the middle

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) Matt's age, diminished velocity compared to previous years, his expanding contract, his inability to control any secondary pitches on a consistent basis, his failure/s as a closer in April, his IP/H ratio, our high probability of needing to cut payroll by at least $20 million next year....etc. pretty much the same across the board as every other year.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 03:13 AM) What the s*** is that? Effin a, Nolan. You said no Catwoman. What do you mean? I dont remember him ever saying no to anything but Robin

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) In all the debate about field turf or natural grass, I have yet to see someone bring up the fact that field turf is terrible in the winter. I can only assume that the people writing all of the articles have never even been on field turf and instead are basing their arguments on google searches. It seems to work well for the Patriots. If you remember, the first game they played on it against the bears was after an insane snowstorm, and it played pretty well. Soldier field has heaters under the sod IIRC, so it isnt as if the field turf would just freeze and that is that. It is just so maddening and frustrating. The Bears have been at the bottom in field quality pretty much since they installed the grass, and the same things are tried over and over. Replacing sod 5 days before a game in sub zero weather is not an ideal strategy to deal with the situation, the sod is not going to take, and it will just be ripped up and replaced shortly after gameday. If they need to copy the Packers with their hybrid field, so be it. Just do something different, because status quo has failed miserably -
QUOTE (Real @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) Anybody see Showalter bump into Cuzzi's shoulder after getting tossed? Thought you arent allowed to make any contact with the umpires, wonder if he'll be suspended I saw it, but i saw it as incidental contact, not a shove. Cuzzi turned a few different ways to get out of the way of Showalter but Buck was trying to shadow him. If he is fined I wont agree with it

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) I know it sounds crazy but I think JR goes for another 125M budget next year. He can cry poor all day long but my guess is they are still making money at that number, believe it or not... them there's some Dick Allen fightin words right there

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) Actually, it doesn't. That moniker fits an artist or band that literally had only one hit song, not someone with only one song that can be instantly recalled after more than 20 years. Her first three ALBUMS reached #36, #1, and #27 on U.S. charts, and the first two went Gold and Platinum, respectively. Debby Boone and the chick who sang "99 Luft Balloons" were one hit wonders. Singers with multiple Gold albums by definition are not. So after you define One hit wonder by saying they have one hit song, then you list her albums? Name more than one of her hit songs without searching
-
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Sinead O'Connor. "One hit wonder sells" this very talented musician very short, but certainly that one mega monster hit Prince song is what catapulted her to superstardom. unfortunately the moniker fits for her. she has had success, but lets be honest, i doubt many posters could name more than that one song without a google search

growing up I loved Quantum Leap. Arrested Development, Married With Children, Flight of the Conchords, and Dexter are all up there

players arent worried about HGH testing, they are on to bigger and better things, like huffing deer antler spray -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) No, we've seen enough. If I was a DA, I'd have more than enough sufficient evidence to present my case to the grand jury. We'd no doubt go to trial, in which case I'd be going up against Andrew Friedman's lawyer. If you were a DA, you would probably neglect something procedural because you were out drinking too late, and it would go to mistrial

Name this One hit wonder Hint: The song that put this woman on the map was written by Prince(should be fairly easy now)

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) As if KW, your god, could do any better. He certainly couldn't set up a team to compete like the current Blue Jays are. They're coming. And they're coming for everyone soon. do us all a favor and let us know when they are here, Carnak

regardless of the back and forth between oney and BV, resorting to the "what have you done" burn when you got yourself canned from a major league job(that your dad got you) is pretty lame. BV has done more in his lifetime in the game of baseball then Oney could ever dream of

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Hayden to Visit the Bears I like the sound of this. I hope we sign him to a reasonable deal. Jennings/Bowman scare me. Don't think we can have too many veteran talented CBs, especially in a division with Megatron, Greg Jennings, Driver, Devin Aromashadou and Juaquin Iglesias. I was with you until those last 3 WRs -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) Daniel Craig hasn't had a single successful movie (box-office wise) outside of the Bond franchise. Well, I thought Harrison Ford just mailed it in. At least Rockwell, Adam Beach and Craig had more interested roles. Olivia Wilde is growing on me, I guess. Not enough to pay money to go to the theatres and see CHANGE-UP though. well if you determine the worth of a movie by the box office take, then you must be a big fan of High School Musical and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. Daniel Craig has made plenty of good movies outside of Bond, his box office take is really irrelevant

i think a huge portion of Morel's bad numbers are due to Ozzie batting him second for a long period of time. Ozzieball really takes the bat out of the 2 hitters hands, he was constantly having Morel bunt and try to hit behind runners and take pitches to allow the leadoff hitter to try and take a base. Morel never got a chance to be comfortable and get in a groove

Can Rizzo honestly be credited with developing Strasburg and Storen? Didnt both of them spend less than a year in the minors? And Strasburg blew his arm out in less than 2 months.... The Nats are drafting well, unfortunately this is because they are drafting extremely high due to some historically bad seasons, but at least they didnt pull a Pittsburgh and screw up multiple years drafting in the top 10

Dunn was not acquired via trade, so he does not qualify
