QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) This is basically the assumption because of his time spent with Moorad and Steinberg, as well as Northwestern and Harvard Law. Since he's "numbers oriented," he has to be a SABR type of person. On the other hand, we've never really seen these numbers applied to personnel/scouting/FA decisions or referenced in articles. The only examples I could think of would be the times they went to arbitration with a player, but those examples aren't plentiful and they're obviously closed to outsiders, so only the agents would really be able to testify to his actual approach. He's definitely not Grady Fuson, old baseball scout, referenced in Moneyball. This is all your assumption, you cant be presenting this as fact. Nothing is known about Hahns MO until he steps out of KWs shadow and does his own job. Northwestern and Harvard law really dont play much into this, you dont see people touting KW going to Stanford as any reason for the way he works

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 07:07 AM) FYI, the initial "Sox-like" lowball offer by the Twins to Cuddyer was $12.5 million/2 years Thats pretty Twins-like too.

I have posted a Drive trailer in the past, this is the newly released international trailer. I have really come to appreciate Gosling. He could have easily fallen into the Rom-Com group and increased his exposure, but he has been pretty selective in his choices. I like pretty much all of his work

This is so f***ing annoying. Everyone except Ozzie and KW knew that Quentin wasnt going to be back on Friday. Viciedo should have been up this week and playing right field

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) How? The only people that would care about that are meatballs who have no idea who the f*** Rick Hahn is anyway. Plus, Jerry won his world series already. I think he could care less at this point if the Cubs did, and if it took a Sox front office guy to win it, then that makes Jerry look better

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 07:51 AM) Well, the problem is "where will he play?" with Rasmus. Despite all evidence to the contrary on Rios, Ozzie seems wedded to him as the CFer. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id...73/colby-rasmus He's 19/88 so far with the Blue Jays...for a 216 average and mid 600's OPS. I'd like to say Rio can do better than that at some point, maybe? I dont understand. This is the guy that was going to save the Sox season, these numbers cannot be true

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Lets be honest, Kenny Powers would totally read something like that, but Stevie would have written it for him

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) Haha! Good call on that one. I re-read it imagining his voice and it was even funnier. Read it in Stevie's voice for full effect

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) Then the thread title needs to be edited. not really. busters twitter states :there is high expectation among baseball execs that cws awarded claim for thome. whats unknown, whether a deal can be worked out. i mean, if you want to start splitting hairs about exact meanings, then you can stop calling AA the greatest gm in history any time

On the same day the Sox are awarded the claim on Thome, DeWayne Wise is DFA by the Marlins. greg775 cries tears of joy and sorrow simultaneously

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Reed Johnson has been pretty awesome this year. i really dont think this year is indicitive of what Reed Johnson is.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) I know I have no power, but I just like discussion of minor signings/moves we could make to maybe help our punchless offense. So one of your suggestions is Reed Johnson? Who is next, Lew Ford?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) I've suggested to a couple Raiders fans that the best thing for that franchise would be for Al Davis to die. I don't know if there is a Rocky Wirtz waiting in the wings, but simply getting out from under his control would do wonders for that team. Sqwert is a big Raiders fan, and he has pretty much said he hopes it will happen soon -
Is the Batman second from the left from "The Dark Knight Returns" graphic novel? He definitely looks older/pudgier. I dont know why, but Batman Beyond is the one I think I like the most. And both hooded robin and cowl robin are pretty cool in those shots, I think I would toggle between then

http://screenrant.com/avengers-footage-des...d23-rob-128831/ There was footage shown of the Avengers movie at the D23 convention, apparently it brought the house down

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) I meant Kenney. And apparently, he's the one who upped the Soriano deal by a FULL three years to ensure they got him. That $50-60 million commitment alone that Kenney pushed for should be the end of him. Zambrano and Bradley are 100% on Hendry though....OTOH, he felt forced to get creative because they capped the money he could spend so he had to have an equal payroll offset at that time (with Zell). Wonder how close they were at that time to pulling to the trigger on Peavy? The media in Chicago has been pushing for Kenney to get ousted for years. Its hard for us to speculate who pushed for what in these deals, but the bottom line is that the deals were signed under Hendry/Kenneys regime, they are both responsible for the deals, and they both should lose their jobs over it.
