QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Whoa, deal was first person gets the beer my friend. Ah, I misread. I thought it was a "Soxtalker says hi, get free beer deal". Dammit and I already printed out all of these flyers with your description and such

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) LOL at the Rios thing. Ozzie going out in a blaze of Ozzie saying FU to everybody. He has to get the attention now cause once he's in Florida nobody will care the rest of his career. He's gonna be there a long time. Very surprised he's still playing Tank and DeAza and Flowers. Flowers' time is about up with AJ to return soon. HaHaha yea that is hilarious to intentionally put out bad lineups to sabotage a team. So funny. And Ozzie will be so loved in Florida for whatever reason you may decide that makes no sens. HaHaHa, LOLZ, HaHaHa. *thumb points to greg775* Love this guy. So funny -
Spiegel really took Cowley to task for defending some of Guillens boneheaded moves, and Cowley got really defensive.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) This . . . LOL, that required digging? That stuff has been on this board numerous times. SUCH a great reporter
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Regardless of his viewpoint this is the kind of stuff reporters should be digging up. what exactly did he just dig up in that made up scenario?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Some of you guys are gluttons for punishment. We already know your opinion, no need to reiterate
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Their stats say they don't even deserve a spot on the roster. Why are they even on the bench? like i said, the blame is distributed equally for me, i am certainly not absolving kw in the same way you do ozzie.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) If they were on the last years of their contracts, I might agree with you. These guys are going to be around for a while, how do you justify not playing them the rest of this year and opening 2012 with them as starters? i think their stats are justification enough
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) Let's be honest here, this is an extraordinarily difficult team to manage because of the awful performances of three of the four highest paid players. totally agreed. which is why i was beating my head against the wall when ozzie continued to run Dunn and Rios out there everyday over the last month when it was painfully obvious that they were not breaking out of their slumps, even when kw went public and said "play the best players, not the highest paid players" the roster has sucked, and the management of the roster has been equally as bad
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Rios was 2-5 with a double and RBI batting 4th on Friday . . . the sun shines on this dogs ass once a month apparently
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I was surprised it wasn't posted already. As far as batting Rios 4th, you have more outs in that lineup than him and maybe it's best you don't bat them - Rios, Morel, Beckham - back-to-back-to back. you are right, putting the worst hitter in the lineup, and second worst hitter in the league, at the most crucial rbi position in the lineup is much better. and for the record, morel and beckham would be better options than rios. i somewhat agree with you that spacing the holes out is better than bunching them, but rios at cleanup is a f***ing travesty, as evidenced by his "production" last night
-
when cowley put this on twitter this morning, i knew who was going to post it on soxtalk immediately. i dont understand why he continues to completely absolve guillen and hammer kw when they both are to blame. and how can you sit there with a straight face and say guillen is trying to win games after seeing him bat rios in the cleanup spot for a week. that is ridiculous

Next time you do it, send me a PM a day or so in advance and I will pin it until gametime. Just dont tell Gage, he hates pinned stuff

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) Pierre, Ramirez, Konerko, Rios, Viciedo, De Aza, Flowers, Morel, Beckham SMH It just makes no sense -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) Yeah, he's Hawk's little lap dog...that stuff about Edgar Martinez and Griffey Jr never being able to get into the Polish Hall of Fame like Paciorek was cracking me up last night though... Wimpy is still pretty funny even when sucking up. i also liked when he said the only games that he had bad games were games when they played the national anthem, lol. wow is that a bad sentence. me fail english? thats unpossible
-
QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) It´s getting harder and harder to watch Dunn whiff on a regular basis. It will never happen but this is why we need a better CBA (Similar to NFL CBA) to avoid getting locked into these ridiculous guaranteed contracts in sports. The majority of athletes that get them don´t deserve them. Just my 2 cents. there is no way the MLBPA lets that happen

i am starting to get the feeling that wimpy comes back when stone is done. it really seems like hawk is enjoying the reunion. especially since wimpy really praises hawk as much as possible about his stories and brings up points that hawk made in the past.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
i really dont care what the talk is about the number 1 wide reciever, in my mind it is gonna be Bennett this season and it isnt even close. Not only does Jay love to throw to him in high pressure situations, but the guy is always where he is supposed to be and is really good about taking extra yards. Jenksy, i dont think this line is nearly as bad as you think it is. it is not a great or even good line by any stretch, but it is much better than last season. i think jay will have more time to get things done back there -
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) Dunn now with 155 Ks and .164 batting average. When will the Ks overtake the batting average? Pick the date. next thursday

QUOTE (ottawa_sox @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) I honestly think there is more of a chance that he accepts some king of partial buyout to retire early than go throught 3 more years of what he has experienced this year. This guy is not some Jaime Navarro. He is honourable and rich. He doesn't need to hear the boos for 3 more years. I think he will do whatever it takes to turn it around with a different conditioning program in the off-season and if he continues next year like it's 2011, he won't even go through the whole 2012 season. you really think he would leave 40+ million on the table? i doubt that
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Hasn't he been healthy for the entire season until now? Like Rongey would say, he's been the least of our concerns. Who cares if he's DLed now? We've been out of the race for some time now. Our outfield next year will be Viciedo, DeAza and Rios. That's a lot worse outfield production wise than Viciedo/DeAza, CQ. well just think of it this way greg, if they WERE in it, he would yet again be injured in a crucial down the stretch run. Just like in 08. do you remember that greg? when he broke his wrist doing whatever he was doing? what about that? and the year after that? and after that? and this season? how about the .250 average? his power and rbi numbers are good, but you simply cannot rely on carlos quentin. and this is why you explore getting value for him before his arbitration figures get ridiculous
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Didn't he get hurt diving for the ball? Coulda happened to anybody. This all doesn't matter anyway. We're going nowhere until the contracts of Peavy, Dunn and Rios mercifully expire. Too much money tied up in nonperformers. Too many holes on this team. could of happened to anybody, always happens to quentin.
