Joe Crede played less than one more season(90 games) after he left the Sox, and spent the final 2 1/2 months hurt before he retired due to the back problems that consistently plagued him his last 3 years with the Sox. The Sox picked a poor replacement admittedly, but Crede could have been flipped for value long before his value plummetted, and the Sox didnt do it and ended up with NOTHING. Management screwed up by holding on to him too long even when they knew his back was going to give out. back up what? His bad overall fitness? Nobody but dunn would be able to back it up. All i see is a large man who looks pretty damn slow swinging the bat, and has all season long. Considering he is one of the more renowned sluggers of he past 10 years, it is mighty strange that he signs a large contract, goes about his business of not swinging the bat all offseason and now has one of the historically worst seasons hitting. Nobody has to back up anything IMO. The proof is right in front of your face

Thanks caulfield, those articles written one month from each other in the new york times and a shoutout by gammons have confirmed everything you have assumed. The question now is, what does Mao Zedong think? Everything thats being written about him is confirming that what he does is hand in hand with Kenny Williams, so why didnt Williams and his Stanford education get the same "hybrid saber guy" label applied to him?

I've yet to see any solid evidence or support of this common assumption that seems to be flying around about him. Maybe it's simply because with the new group of young GM's, everyone assumes he can't be a traditional, "baseball background with a lesser education" type of GM. It is based on a bloggers opinion. You are basically regurgitating this guys opinion on it, and passing it off as fact
