Does Jackson Get Dealt Before Deadline No Matter What?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 07:42 AM) Why would the Reds deal him? Who would they play at that position? Doesn't he only have 4 homers this year? not only that, rolen is usually good for a minimum 30 day stay on the dl

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Can anyone name a young player groomed by Greg Walker that has developed a patient approach at the plate? Krispie Young is all I can come up with and I honestly don't know how much time with "Walk" he had. Who are you talking about? Chris Young? He was only a prospect when he was traded to AZ, and last I checked, his patience at the plate leaves a lot to be desired

Cowley vs SoxTalk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) 1. The worst GM in the game wouldn't have found Santos and Humber for free (basically). 2. The worst GM in the game might have let Carlos Quentin go during one of the two past off-seasons. Probably, he would have traded Danks as well for 3-4 prospects that would never pan out. 3. The worst GM in the game would never dare to trade for an "ace/former Cy Young winner" because he would be afraid of the contract and would play it safe instead of taking any risks. 4. The worst GM in the game wouldn't have dared to sign Viciedo. 5. The worst GM in the game would have turned the catching position over to Flowers instead of extending AJ. KW will get another opportunity at some point, if he wants it. You don't put together a World Series dominating roster for $65 million with just complete luck. sweet post caulfield

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Is RoH on TV anymore? I don't see that angle getting over. It has it's audience but not nearly as popular as ECW was when they did that. I think it could get over based on CM Punks promo alone. People want to see what he is going to do now, the E needs to capitalize on that.

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) Hard to believe this angle, but I suppose I could see Vince's cash winning out. I don't want ROH to melt into The E because "creative" will f*** it up like they always do and then ROH will be dead. I want ROH to build into a real threat to The E, because TNA sure as hell never will. I hope they do a short-term cross-promotional angle, but ROH needs to stay independent. aside from colt cabana, most of these guys are wwe property anyways arent they?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) Don't forget Rowand. It's just so unfortunate we didn't get Miggy Cabrera when we had a chance, personality/off-field warts and all. Why is Rowand a disaster in CF?

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) I agree as well. KW had a quiet man crash on Fukodome a couple years ago. It was never quiet. KW made a bigger offer than Hendry did, that was no secret. Fukudome just was lured away by the dreaminess of Cubdom

2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) That Tigers offense is very scary. Although I fully expect Avila and Boesch to regress. I don't see them both hitting .300 for the rest of the season. I could care less about those two. Cabrera and VMart could carry that team by themselves

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Well things might just change for Gordo now... Can the Twins win the AL Central
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) It's possible they give him $2 million NOT to pitch for them next year and then offer him an incentive-laden contract. Knowing Nathan, he might accept. I'm not sure how wise it would be for them to put all their eggs in the basket of just one potential closer without a back-up plan. BTW, Mr. Capps just blew a 7-4 lead against the Brewers with the Crew now leading 8-7 after trailing 7-0 in the early stages of the game. They're also going to have to decide what to do with Pavano again. And how many Japanese players in the last 5-7 years that have been signed to MLB clubs have actually exceeded expectations? Not many. 2 Ichiro and Nomo. Sasaki was good for a few years in Seattle but he was old when he came over and didnt stay long. Heck, how many have actually met expectations? Daisuke did for a short period of time, but he has really fallen off. Fukudome has been a massive disappointment, Iguchi really was good for the Sox for about a year and a half before he was traded then washed out of the league. A few relief pitchers have been good to decent, but it seems like maintaining any sort of long term consistency has been impossible. Remember how Daisuke had a mysterious gyroball that defied physics? Right.....

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Only got to see the bottom of the 9th today, but what a great job by Thornton after Humber continued to be the man. I have such confidence in Beckham's defense now, it's crazy. a pregame graphic stated that Beckham has the best fielding percentage among second baseman. And he proved it multiple times
